Betty Hatfield of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Merle Ewalt Arp and Helen Sparks, was born March 1, 1939, inTazewell County,Virginia.  She died at 10:42 P.M., Monday, July 18, 2011 inLouisville.      Age:  72

She professed faith in Christ and was a member ofGoodHopeBaptistChurch. 

She was a retired employee ofCampbellsvilleUniversity. 

She united in marriage to Rev. James L. Hatfield May 13, 1956.   He preceded her in death August 1, 2009. 

She is survived by two sons:  Jimmy Hatfield and wife, Julie of Columbia, Tennessee and Jeff Hatfield and wife, Renee of Worcester, Massachusetts; five grandchildren:  Andrea Hatfield of Lexington, Nathan Hatfield and Curtis Hatfield of Columbia, Tennessee and Aria Hatfield and Tyler Hatfield of Worcester, Massachusetts; three brothers and four sisters:  A. B. Cook and wife, Glenda, Henry Cook and wife, Lorie and Laura Sexton of High Point, North Carolina, Thomas Cook and wife, Sharon of Greensboro, North Carolina, Patrice Wright and husband, Clint of Flint, Michigan, Linda Murdick of Midland, Michigan and Mary Greenwalt and husband, Gerry of Woodbridge, Virginia; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

(1948 – 2011)
Darrell Shipp of Campbellsville, son of Nell Brockman Shipp and the late Gilbert Shipp, was born in Taylor County, Kentucky, June 15, 1948. He died at 4:04 P.M., Saturday, July 16, 2011, in Louisville. Age: 63
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Bethel First Presbyterian Church.
He was a former employee of Anaconda in Summersville for twenty years.
He is survived by his Mother, Nell Shipp of Campbellsville; one niece and one nephew: Beth Sanders and Chris Ferguson and wife, Amanda of Campbellsville; three great-nephews and two great-nieces: Aaron Bottoms, Jason Sanders, Dalton Beams, Darlene Ferguson, and Naomi Ferguson; lifetime friend, Janford Agee of Columbia; several other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Darlene Ferguson June 11, 1979.___________________

New Lebanon road to be resurfaced beginning July 18

The Kentucky Dept of Transportation and Nally & Haydon will begin milling and paving operations on US68 (New Lebanon Rd) in Taylor County, beginning at the fairgrounds and proceeding to the Marion County line on Monday July 18 through Friday August 5. (3 weeks)   There will be “one way alternating traffic” during the hours of 7:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.

There will also be a large amount of dump truck traffic entering and exiting the work area. Please be patient and use caution as you travel this section of road during the next few weeks.
