John Rodney Coffindaffer, 74

John Rodney Coffindaffer, age 74, of Campbellsville, died Wednesday, July 30th at Hardin Memorial Hospital, in Elizabethtown, KY.

A native of Clarksburg, WV, he was a son of the late, John P. and Madeline Boyce Coffindaffer.

He had lived in Campbellsville for several years after retiring from the Clarksburg, WV fire department.  He was a member of Late Lodge #63, F & A M and the Scottish Rite in Bridgeport, WV.   He loved running his beagles and enjoyed horses.

Rodney was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy and a sister, Karen Hughes.

He is survived by his children, Kimberly Griffith and her husband, Mark of Mount Clare, WV; James Rodney Coffindaffer of Clarksburg, WV and Deborah Sallee of Fredonia, KY; a brother, Fred Coffindaffer and his wife, Donna of Phillipi, WV; a brother-in-law, Frank Hughes of Elkins, West Virgina and a companion and friend, Jo Ann Gill of Campbellsville and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be planned for a later date in WV.

Capt. Marion V. Bowman, USMC Ret., age 84

marine emblemCapt. Marion V. Bowman, USMC Ret., age 84, husband of Willine Bowman of Campbellsville died Friday, July 18, 2014 in Taylor Regional Hospital.

A native of Taylor County, he was born to Luther and Bessie Chappell Bowman on August 28, 1929.  He attained the rank of Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in Korea and Viet Nam.  After retiring from the Marines, he taught at the Naval Air Station in Memphis for 16 years.  He later returned to Campbellsville where he was the first recipient of the Taylor County Patriotism Award.  He was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church and also attended services at the First Church of God with his wife.  He also was a member of Gideons International.

Marion was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Sue Stone Bowman.

Besides his wife, Willine;  he is survived by his sons, Phil Garcia, Memphis, TN, Huel J. Chenault, Memphis, TN, David L. Chenault and his wife, Terri, of Byhalia, MS, Michael A. Bowman and his wife, Debbie, of Jacksonville, NC, Stephen “Pat” Bowman, of Memphis, TN and Robert S. Bowman and his wife, Jackie, of Arlington, TN; a sister, Mildred Walker of Brandywine, VA; step-sons, Greg Barnett and his wife, Barbara of Calvary, KY and Doug Barnett and his companion, Sandy McFelea, of Campbellsville, KY; fourteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 22nd  at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with burial with full military honors at Elliott Cemetery. The family request that visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

The family request that contributions of remembrance be made to place Gideon Bibles and may be made at the Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

Clemmie Odell Karnes, 66

Vintage Perfume VialClemmie Odell Karnes, 66, of Campbellsville, died Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at his residence after an illness.

He was born May 31, 1948 at Saloma, KY to the late Walter and Catherine Martin Karnes.  He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed fishing and watching NASCAR.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Karnes, three daughters and spouses, Kristy Young; Melissa and David Walls, all of Campbellsville; Jamie and Jamie Terrell of Gravel Switch; three sons and spouses, Clemmie Beckley, Todd and Chrystal Beckley, all of Campbellsville andJohnnie Wright of Florida; six brothers and spouses, J.W. Karnes, D.L. and Tina Karnes, Jimmy and Karen Karnes, all of Campbellsville, Brian and Tasha Karnes of Casey County, Roger Karnes of Maine and David Karnes of Texas; seventeen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Karnes and a grandson, Landon Bekley.

Funeral services for Clemmie Karnes will be held at 12 noon Saturday at the Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with Bro. Jason Cochran and Bro. Don Gowin officiating. Burial will follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers are Joey Karnes, Jody Allen, Evan Walls, Stephen Thomas, Ronnie Beckley and Brandon Smith.

Marshall Daryl “Buck” Graham, age 25

Marshall Daryl “Buck” Graham, Jr., age 25, of Campbellsville, died Saturday, July 5th, 2014 in Campbellsville.

He was born in Campbellsville on September 13, 1988 to Marshall Daryl, Sr. and Susan Ann Volk Graham who survive.  Buck had many interest including playing his guitar and singing, he loved to draw and enjoyed playing video games.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Jessica Ackerson Graham; his two sons, Noah Jayden Graham and Isaac Clarke Graham, of Campbellsville; his sisters, Marcella Graham, of Campbellsville, Marshell Tompkins, of Louisville, Melissa Newton, of Louisville and Kimberly Mitchell, of Campbellsville; his brothers, Jeff Herbig, of Campbellsville, Kevin Herbig, of Campbellsville and Greg Herbig, of Louisville;  his father and mother-in-law, Rob and Arlene Ackerson, of Dry Ridge, KY; nine nieces and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Peggy Jolene Graham; grandparents, William and JoAnne Volk; grandmother Mary Erma Johnson and grandfather, Ezra Holmes.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 9th at the Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home in Campbellsville with burial to follow at Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.  The family request that visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

Thomas PorterMr. Thomas Adrian Porter, age 85 of McNary Street, Campbellsville died Friday, July 4, 2014 at the Liberty Care and Rehabilitation Center in Liberty after a long illness.

He is survived by his constant companion Alice Rose Smith and her nine children, one daughter, Alice Marie Sanders of Lebanon, one brother and four sisters and their spouses, Neal and Mary Porter, Susan Yocum, Josie and William Spaulding, Nannie and Emmett McKay and Margaret Spaulding all of Lebanon. Several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 10th at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Campbellsville. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.
