Olivia Durham Tomes

Mrs. Olivia Durham Tomes, age 94, passed away at the Brookridge Retirement Home on March 11, 2002. She was the daughter of the late Ollie Farris and Charles Matt Durham. Mrs. Tomes was born March 28, 1907 in Campbellsville, Kentucky where she resided for 91 years. She accepted Christ at age 11 and was a member of Campbellsville Baptist Church. She was an officer of her Sunday school class as well as holding several offices during her active years. She was a member of the David Allen Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. After the death of her husband, Robert Clelland Durham, she managed the Campbellsville Produce Company. Mrs. Tomes was the widow of Earl Ray Tomes. Mrs. Tomes is survived by her son, Robert B. Durham and wife Betty of Lexington, Kentucky, her daughter, JoAnna Durham Tudor and husband Bynum of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and one step-son and wife, Bobby Ray and Margaret Tomes of Campbellsville. Threegrandsons, Robert S. Creekmore of Baltimore, Maryland, John C. Creekmore and wife Maggie of Roanoke, Virginia and Brian L. Durham and Wife Mandy of Lexington,Kentucky, three granddaughters, Olivia C. Miller and Hannah R. Creekmore of Baltimore,MD, Sarah Durham Creekmore of Roanoke, Virginia, one step-grandson, Barry Tomes of Campbellsville, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday. March 16, 2002, at the Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Brookside Cemetery. Dr. J. Chester Badgett officiated.
