Jane Akin

Jane Akin of Old Greensburg Road, Campbellsville, daughter of the late Homer M. Allender and Geneva Bourne Allender, was born September 10, 1930, in Fayette County, Kentucky. She died at 11:10 P.M., Monday, February 24, 2003, at her home in Campbellsville after a courageous battle with cancer.Age: 72She had professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Woodlawn Christian Church and attended the Vineyard Christian Fellowship.She graduated from the Louisville General Hospital School of Nursing in 1953, and worked as a registered nurse for some fifty years.She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Greensburg Chapter # 232 and the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.She was the loving wife of Russell Akin whom she married on February 14, 1958.Besides her devoted husband, Russell Akin of Old Greensburg Road, Campbellsville, she is survived by two daughters and two sons and their spouses who provided tender loving care during her final days of battling cancer: Robert and Jewel Akin of Greensburg, Melissa and Elliott Mallard of Orange Park, Florida, Merry Beth and Brad Gold of Greeneville, North Carolina, and Rocky Akin of Lexington; nine adoring grandchildren: Niki Akin and Andrew Akin of Greensburg, Matthew Mallard, Jared Mallard and Elliott Mallard II of Orange Park, Florida, Carrie Gold, Evan Gold and Mason Gold of Greeneville, North Carolina, and Rachael Akin of Campbellsville; one sister, Bonnie Toler of Lexington; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.She was also preceded in death by two sisters and one brother, Gloria Janes, George Allender and Genevieve Watson._______________ FUNERAL SERVICES: 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 28th, at the Parrott Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville by Ray Hollenbach and Ray RobertsBURIAL: Campbellsville Memorial Gardens
