ROGER SMITH
Roger A. Smith of Stevens Court, Campbellsville, son of the late Paul Herman Smith and Lucille Rogers Smith, was born August 5, 1922 in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 2:55 A.M., Monday, March 10, 2003, in Louisville from injuries received in automobile accident. Age: 80 He had professed faith in Christ and was a member at the Palestine BaptistChurch where he served as deacon for fifty plus years.He was a veteran of World War II having served his country in the United States Army.He united in marriage to Lena Hord on January 19,1946, she preceded him in death on August 4, 1996.He united in marriage to Allene Underwood, November 21, 1998. Besides his wife, Allene Smith of Stevens Court, Campbellsville, he is survived by two sons and their spouses: Ronald A. and Barbara Smith of Hazard, Kentucky and Terry L. and Connie Smith of Williamstown, West Virginia; two step-sons and their spouses: Bill and Karen Underwood of Louisville, and Lonnie and Kaye Underwood of Shepherdsville; three grandchildren and one grand son-in-law: Melissa Smith of New Haven, Abigail and Terry Smith of Middletown, Ohio, and Matthew Smith of Parkersburg, West Virginia; seven step-grandchildren; Matt Underwood of LaGrange, Ashley Dooley of Campbellsville, Natalie Destefano of Louisville, Ronnie Kayrouz, Robbie Underwood, Brittany Underwood, and Brian Underwood all of Shepherdsville; three great-grandchildren: Candace Lauren Gribbins of New Haven, Madeline Smith, and Jacob Allen Smith of Middletown, Ohio; one brother and two sisters-in-law: James Earl and Virginia Smith, and Helen Smith of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.He was also preceded in death by a daughter: Opal Jean Leftwich, one brother and one sister: Kenneth Ray Smith and Opal Dorothy Smith.
