Rev. William Marion Rountree, age 82

The Rev. William Marion Rountree, 82, of Bowling Green died at 2:20 p.m. May 26, 2003, at The Medical Center. The Edmonson County native was a World War II Army veteran, serving three years in the South Pacific with the 32nd infantry division, received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart, was a United Methodist minister for 32 years, serving churches in Adair, Taylor, Jefferson, Barren, Edmonson and Warren counties, was a 60-year Mason, a 50-year member of the Grand Chapter of The Kentucky Royal Arch Mason, served as president of Caveland and Glasgow-Barren County Ministerial Association and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was a son of the late Virgil Rountree and Ethel Luttrell Rountree. He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph C. Rountree. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at J.C. Kirby Son Funeral Home, Lovers Lane chapel, with burial at 2:30 p.m. EST Thursday at Resthaven Cemetery in Louisville. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Jones Rountree; a son, William Donald Rountree of Louisville; a daughter, Angela Angie Irvin of Bowling Green; a brother, Charles D. Rountree of Louisville; a sister, Lottie Dossey of Louisville; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Rountree of Louisville; four granddaughters, Heather Rountree of Louisville, Erica Higginbotham of Lexington, Sarah Irvin of Bowling Green and Allison Campbell of Columbia; five grandsons, Scott, Brandon and Michael Rountree, all of Louisville, Christopher Rountree of New Albany, Ind., and Wesley Irvin of Columbia; four great-grandchildren; three nieces; and three nephews.
