Chester Blakeman

Chester Blakeman of Noe Road, Campbellsville, son of the late Osborne Blakeman and Tommie Lou Miskell Blakeman was born February 27, 1912 in the Pleasant Hill Community of Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 2:30 P.M., Monday, April 4, 2005 in Lexington. Age: 93 He professed faith in Christ and has been a faithful member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church since 1923. He has served as a Deacon since 1946 and taught Sunday School for many years. He was a veteran of World War II having served his country honorably as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army and received the American Theater Ribbon, European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon with three Bronze Stars, World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. e was a graduate of Campbellsville University and earned a Masters degree in agriculture from the University of Kentucky. He taught school at a one room school for seven years. He was owner and operator of Western Auto in Springfield for three years, in Campbellsville for thirty years and was a retired farmer. He was a former member of the Campbellsville Rotary Club.He united in marriage to Ina Huddleston April 29, 1943. Besides his wife, Ina Huddleston Blakeman of Campbellsville, he is survived by two daughters: Dr. Peggy Blakeman Falace and her husband, Dr. Don Falace of Lexington and Sharon Blakeman Wilson and her husband, Dr. David Wilson of Owensboro; five grandchildren: John Falace and his wife, Mary of Lexington, Stephen Falace and his wife Trina of Napa, California, Thomas Falace of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Rebecca Wilson of Washington, DC and Elizabeth Wilson of Owensboro; several nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends.He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey Blakeman and Alfred Blakeman.
