William Russell ThompsonWilliam Russell Thompson, age 79 of Genesis Rd, Columbia, died Saturday at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was of the Methodist faith and an army veteranHe was preceded in death by his first wife, Cordie Watson Thompson, his parents, Melvin Owen and Tommie Nance Thompson, four brothers, Lawrence, Luke, Winfred and Welby Thompson, four sisters, Blance Phillips, Betty Jo Harden Grace and Sarah Benningfield.He is survived by his wife, Elna Kathleen Thompson, three sons, Gary Long of Lebanon, Bradley Thompson and Randall Thompson both of Campbellsville, seven daughters, Glenda Thompson, Pam Quinn, of Campbellsville, Janet Clark of Jamestown, Regina Deering Key and Ramona Dial. Of Columbia, Zerelda Ervin of Greensburg and Donna Mattingly of Springfield, fifteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren also survive.Several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends survive.Funeral services will be conducted 1 PM, Tuesday at the Lyon DeWitt Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Absher Cemetery.
