Wilmer Bryant
Wilmer Bryant of Chandler Street, Campbellsville, son of the late Grover and Nona Bryant was born May 13, 1919 in Adair County, Kentucky. He died at 2:10 A.M., Thursday, August 10, 2006 in Campbellsville. Age: 87He professed faith in Christ and was a charter member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. He retired from Taylor County Rural Electric after thirty-eight years of service. He was a veteran of World War II having served his country honorably in the United States Army as a heavy machine gunner at Guadalcanal, Southern Philippines and Northern Solomons Islands having been awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with three bronze stars, the American Defense Service Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star and the Good Conduct Ribbon. He was a member of Pitman Masonic Lodge #124 F A.M.He united in marriage to Opal Bryant January 23, 1946. She preceded him in death September 21, 1999. He is survived by two daughters: Evelyn Cox of Campbellsville and Nancy Hill and husband, Bob of Glasgow; three grandchildren: Debbie Neat and Vicki Milby of Campbellsville and Annette Hill of Bowling Green; four great-grandchildren: Leigh Dragoo of Madisonville, Ericka Grant of Campbellsville, Tina Graybeal of Greensburg and Terri Marks of Lexington; seven great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Frances Cabel of Indiana and Mary Helton of Ohio; several nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends.He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Anthony Hill; two sisters: Mayme Newell and Willard Moss.
