William Roy Wethington
William Roy Wethington of Elkhorn Road, Knifley, son of the late Julian Wethington and Mary Celeste Montgomery Wethington was bornSeptember 19, 1920 in Casey County, Kentucky. He died at 2:30 P.M., Sunday, September 10, 2006 in Louisville. Age: 85 He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. He was a veteran of World War II having served his country honorably in the United States Army having received the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, seven bronze stars, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Purple Heart and the Bronze Star Medal. He taught Agriculture in the Taylor County School System and served as Postmaster of the Knifley Post Office for some 45 years. He united in marriage to Martha Rosabel Holcomb December 28, 1945. She preceded him in death March 25, 1987. He is survived by a foster son, Cebert Sherrill and wife, Alice of Louisville; one foster grandson, Christopher Sherrill of Louisville; one brother, George Wethington of Ottawa, Illinois; a special niece, Iona Smith of Campbellsville, several other nieces and nephews and many friends. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. FUNERAL SERVICES: 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at the St. Bernard Catholic Church by Rev. Patrick Dolin and Rev.
