Donald D. McGuire
Donald D. McGuire of Campbellsville, son of the late Cecil McGuire and Elgie Davis McGuire, was born May 11, 1924, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He died at 10:36 P.M., Saturday, August 4, 2007, in Campbellsville. Age: 83
He professed faith in Christ and was an active member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church.
He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict having served his country honorably in the United States Army Air Corps and the United States Air Force.
He was a cartographer for the United States Department of Defense for some twenty-four years and designed the maps for the first lunar landing by United States Astronauts.
He attended the University of Louisville, the University of Texas and graduated from the University of Kentucky.
He united in marriage to Laura Francis McCawley May 31, 1958, in Louisville, who survives.
He is also survived by a sister, Betty M. Rutledge and husband, George Rutledge, of Georgia; three nieces and three nephews.
He and his wife, Laura McGuire retired to Boone, North Carolina and three and a half years ago moved to Campbellsville at the suggestion of their good friends, Dick and Joan Kirzsinger.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard L. McGuire.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: 4:00 P.M., Thursday, August 9, 2007 at
St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Campbellsville by the Rev. Karl Lusk the Rev. Louise Mann
A reception for the family will follow the service at the Church.
