size=2 14ptBilly Mitchell Shuffett, son of the late Ray Shuffett and Esther Vaughn 14ptMitchell Shuffett was born August 21, 1923 in Greensburg, Kentucky. He died 14ptat 8:40 P.M., Friday, September 21, 2007 in Campbellsville. Age: 84 size=2 14pt 14ptHe professed faith in Christ and was the longest standing member of the Greensburg United Methodist Church. 14ptHe was a high school athlete who excelled as a baseball catcher and basketball guard. He attended Campbellsville College, however his college education was interrupted by his service to his country in the United States Army as a part of Pattonrsquo;s 3 Infantry Division during World War II. He was a Purple Heart recipient and was awarded the Bronze Star. 14ptHe was a merchant on the Greensburg square for many years at Shuffettrsquo;s Dry Goods Store. Later he was elected the County Judge Executive and served for several terms. He held offices in many local, regional and statewide organizations. 14ptHe united in marriage to Lucy Durham who preceded him in death. 14ptHe is survived by one daughter and two sons and spouses: Marilyn and Ray Altman of Campbellsville, Dr. Bill and Jennifer Shuffett of Coronado, California and David and Diann Shuffett of Frankfort, Kentucky; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth Ann Shuffett Moore of Greensburg; one brother, Charles Shuffett and wife, Margaret of Murray, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews; his Windsor Garden family; many other family members and friends. 14ptHe was also preceded in death by one sister, Marjorie Shuffett Skaggs and her husband, Tommy. 8pt 8pt size=2 14ptFUNERAL SERVICES: 2:00 P.M.
