Harold Smith, 83

Harold Smith of Campbellsville, son of the late John Owsley Smith Sr. and Lucy Mitchell Smith, was born in Taylor County, Kentucky, September 5, 1926. He died at 11:15 A.M., Saturday, July 31, 2010, in Louisville. Age:   83

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Campbellsville Baptist Church.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served his country honorably in the United States Marines.

He was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville with thirty plus years service and former pastor of churches in Breckenridge, Mercer, and Marion Counties.

He united in marriage to Winona Hay June 29, 1947.

Besides his wife, Winona Smith, he is survived by one daughter and one son: Sue Ellen Knifley and husband, Robert of Campbellsville and John C. Smith and wife, Judy of Hopkinsville; three grandchildren: Kristi Anne Fireline and husband, Kevin of Bowling Green, Amy Lynn Knifley of Campbellsville, and Jonathan C. Smith of Lexington; one great-grandson, Xander Hill of Bowling Green; one sister and one brother: Marianne Markert and husband, Bill of Shelbyville and David Smith and wife, Kay of Richmond; brother-in-law, Jimmy Wheeler of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Brian Lee Knifley February 14, 1994 and one brother and one sister: Owsley Smith Jr. December 26, 1989 and Catherine Wheeler December 31, 2009.
