Mayor Allen & Judge Rogers Proclaims Nov. 15-19, 2010 as Taylor County Marching Band Week

(CAMPBELLSVILLE, KENTUCKY)— Campbellsville Mayor Brenda Allen and Taylor County Judge Executive Eddie Rogers have proclaimed November 15-19, 2010 as Taylor County Marching Band Week in Campbellsville.

The proclamation states:

WHEREAS,    The Taylor County High School Marching Band is an award-winning group of talented students from Campbellsville, Kentucky.  The band performs locally for school events including home football games, pep rallies, parades and other athletic events;

WHEREAS,    The Marching Band’s schedule begins in the summer with band camp and lasts through most of the fall semester, as the band rehearses for countless hours to prepare and perfect the year’s marching show.  The band annually participates in competitions throughout the state;

WHEREAS,    The 2010 Marching Show is entitled, “Distant,” and depicts the common quandary of all people as they strive to fit in with others and belong to a cohesive group.  This show is depicted through music and visual interpretation;

WHEREAS,    The TCHS Marching Band performed “Distant” at semi-final competition on October 30, 2010 in Meade County, Kentucky and received fourth place, along with a distinguished rating.  This placing entitled the band to proceed to state finals competition at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium in Louisville, Kentucky where they placed third in Class 3A.  There are a total of 26 Class 3A bands throughout Kentucky who all compete for the right to appear at finals competition;

WHEREAS,    The TCHS Marching Band made their first finals appearance since 1992.  The finals score of 86.5 is also the highest state finals placement of any band in the history of Taylor County School System;

WHEREAS,    This special recognition is to benefit all of the Taylor County High School Marching Band in appreciation for hours of hard work and dedication.  The TCHS Band has honored Campbellsville and Taylor County by this achievement, truly a “Tradition of Excellence;”

NOW, THEREFORE, WE, BRENDA ALLEN, Mayor of City of Campbellsville, Kentucky, and EDDIE ROGERS, Judge Executive of Taylor County, Kentucky do hereby proclaim November 15-19, 2010 as TAYLOR COUNTY MARCHING BAND WEEK.
