J. B. Crawley

J. B. Crawley of Campbellsville, son of the late Dennis Wilmore Crawley and Isla May Hunt Crawley, was born November 30, 1920 in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 6:30 A.M., Thursday, November 8, 2018 in Hodgenville. Age: 97
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Campbellsville Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon. J.B. also joined many missionary trips with the Baptist Mission Board to several areas of need in North America, South America, Europe and Africa.
As a civilian contracted with the United States Navy during World War II he taught radio and radar technology to the sailors, at this time he also developed many patents while with RCA and on his own.
J. B. was the builder and owner of multiple radio stations.
He was a 32nd degree Mason with the Pitman Mason Lodge #124 F & AM and a member of the Honorable Order of The Kentucky Colonels. He was a former President of the Kentucky Broadcasters Association and former President of the Kentucky Brotherhood. He obtained an Honorary Doctoral degree from Campbellsville University and had served as a Trustee there.
He united in marriage to Elizabeth Perkins December 21, 1941 and she preceded him in death October 26, 2003.
He is survived by one son and one daughter: James Bruce “Jimmy” Crawley, Jr. of Decatur, Alabama and Janie Killian and husband, Dr. Grant Killian of Lighthouse Point, Florida; two grandchildren: Bruce Crawley and wife, Kim and Michele Moore of Somerville, Alabama; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Samuel Crawley of Campbellsville; one sister-in-law, Laverne Crawley of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by one brother and two sisters: D. W. Crawley, Jr., Elizabeth Crawley England and Rebecca Beams.
