Marlyn Shreve, 82
Mrs. Marlyn Jean Shreve of Campbellsville was born on May 29, 1937 in Taylor County to the late Willard and Ethel (Antle) Perkins. She departed this life on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, being 82 years, 2 months, and 1 day of age. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a faithful member of the Green River Memorial Baptist Church. As a young lady, she married Mr. Kenneth Ray Shreve and they remained a devoted couple until his passing in October 2007.
Mrs. Shreve believed in faithfulness and hard work, and retired from the Fruit of the Loom plant in Campbellsville after 37 years of service. In 1971, she joined the Taylor County Republican Women. She served as Treasurer, Vice President, and two terms as the longest-running club President. She also served as Vice Chair for the Taylor County Republican Party, as well as being the first female elected to the Taylor County School Board.
Her most cherished position, though, was being the matriarch of a large and well-respected family. Her quiet strength and time-tested values and beliefs will live on for many generations through her children and grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memory:
Two children: Mark Shreve and wife Delitha, and Kathy Larimore and husband Craig, all of Campbellsville,
One sister: Freda Wilson of Campbellsville,
Six grandchildren: Shawn Shreve, Lindsey Coppock and husband Chris, Jessica Coghill and husband Tim, Leslie Newton and husband Troy, Drew Larimore, and Devin Larimore,
Nine great-grandchildren: Cearra Coppock, Deuce Shreve, Kody Coppock, Ethan Coghill, Brayden Shreve, Allee Coghill, Addie Newton, Carlie Coppock, and Owen Newton,
And a host of close friends and family.
There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Shreve on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Green River Memorial Baptist Church, 3441 Old Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY. Bro. Jamie Bennett, Bro. Shawn Shreve, and Bro. Tim Coghill will be officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, Aug. 3, from 9:00 AM until time for the service.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials in the form of Gideon Bibles or donations to the church fellowship building fund. Those can be made in person at the church during visitation, or any time at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home.
