Edith Ward Helms, 88

Edith Ward Helms, 88, is holding hands again with her beloved husband, Kenneth Eugene Helms, in Heaven. She passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021 in Campbellsville at the home of her daughter. Born in Washington, Indiana, on July 22, 1932, Edith was the daughter of the late George and Mildred Ward. She devoted her whole life to being the best wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker for her family.

Edith had a deep and abiding faith in her Lord and Savior and was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church. In her earlier years, she enjoyed teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School to five-and six-year-olds. Edith was also a loyal choir member and visited many church members in their homes in times of need. Her legacy of unconditional love will continue to bless generations to come.

In addition to Edith’s husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Vonlue McEwen and Virgil Ward.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Deborah Helms Long, Denise Crabtree (Mack) of Campbellsville, KY , David Helms (Lisa) and Dennis Helms (Carrie); grandchildren, Joshua Pettis, Leslie Jenkins (Timothy), Brian Pettis (Brittney), Sarah Pickell (Brandon), Stephen Long, Kristopher Helms (Michaela, Tansy), Neal Helms, Kenneth Helms (Jayme), David Hayward Helms and Zachary Helms; and great-grandchildren, Trevor and William Jenkins, Briley and Brison Pettis, Noah, Charlotte and Lila Kate Pickell and David Helms.

A funeral service will take place on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home in Georgia with visitation one hour prior to the service. Edith will be laid to rest next to her husband, Kenneth, in Magnolia Park Cemetery following the service.
