Wanda Gaines, 78

Wanda Lynn Gaines passed away quietly in her home on April 2, 2021, Good Friday. She was 78 years old. Wanda was born in Taylor County, Kentucky on October 21, 1942. She attended Catholic School for most of her young life. Her family moved back to Taylor County, Kentucky in 1959. She attended Taylor County High School where she met her husband, Paul Gaines. They graduated in 1960 and married in 1961 in Celina, Tennessee. They had 3 children, Janie, Doug, and Gary. In 1969 they moved to Horse Cave, Kentucky where they have remained. Wanda was a member of Horse Cave United Methodist Church. She worked at Horse Cave State Bank for many years. Once retired she enjoyed gardening and making things from her flowers and herbs. She also enjoyed being on the water and enjoyed many boat and beach trips with her children and grandchildren. Wanda joins her parents Raymond and Pauline Netherland and brother Ray Netherland in heaven. She is survived by her husband of 60 years Paul Gaines; children Janie Branstetter (Mark) of Lynn Haven, FL, Doug Gaines (Laura) of Park City, KY, Gary Gaines (Angie) of Myrtle Beach, SC. Grandchildren Steven Branstetter (Nicole), Stuart Branstetter (Tara), Emily Matthews (Luke), Ryan Gaines, Lauren Gaines, and Nicholas Gaines. There are also 3 beautiful great granddaughters, Rylan, Ellie, and Aubrey, and one on the way. She leaves three sisters, Dena Creel, Paula Bost, and Jill Caulk, who all came to care for her during her final days.

A Memorial Service will be held on April 29, 2021 at the Horse Cave United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM with a service following at 11:30.
