Nevada Hortense “Tensie” Skaggs

Nevada Hortense “Tensie” Skaggs, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, was born on October 3, 1933 and passed peacefully on February 9, 2026. She was the daughter of the late John Luther Walker and Lillie Alton Berry Walker,
She was united in marriage to Billy M. Skaggs on September 28, 1956 and together they shared many years of love, faith and family. Hortense made a profession of faith and was a faithful member of Robinson Creek Baptist Church.
Hortense is survived by her devoted husband, Bill Skaggs; four children: Kathy Newton (Keith), Donna Kerr (John), Tammy Wilson (Kevin) and Kent Skaggs (Tonia), all of Campbellsville; nine grandchildren: Jennifer Brashear (Jared) of Bowling Green, Jessica Newton of Campbellsville, Phil Durham of Campbellsville, Kyle Newton (Megan) of Greensburg, Corey Watson (Victoria) of Campbellsville, Alex Wilson (Kelsi) of Campbellsville, Allen Wilson (Christine) of Campbellsville, Kenzi Howell (Jeff) of Salvisa and Noah Skaggs of Campbellsville and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Better known to all as “Tensie”, Hortense was loved by everyone she met and had a special way of making people feel deeply loved in return. She was pure joy and goodness, and her home was always a place of warmth and welcome. She was especially famous for her fried apple pies, Twinkie cake and skillet hamburgers – meals that brought family together and created memories that will last a lifetime.
Hortense’s legacy of love, faith and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Hortense was also preceded in death by one brother and two sisters: James Walker, Lois Hudgins and Eulene Vaughn.
