Cheryl Corbin, 55

Mrs. Cheryl D. Watson Corbin of Campbellsville passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Hospital after an illness. Born on November 12, 1966, she was 55 years of age. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Christian faith. Mrs. Corbin was a former employee of the bleach house at Fruit of the Loom, and a loving and devoted friend and daughter.

She leaves to cherish her memory:

Her parents: John Ray and Regina Parker of Campbellsville,

Her companion: Tim Baumgardner,

Three siblings: Chris Parker and wife Billie of Campbellsville, Johnnie Lewis Parker of Elk Horn, and William Logan Parker of Bowling Green,

Nieces: Marina Parker, Emory Parker, and Makayla Cecil,

And a host of extended family and friends.

She was also “Sissy Cheryl” to several other chosen nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Corbin was preceded in death by a sister, Nina Michelle Watson.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Corbin on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY. Bro’s Alex Cox and Dickie Rogers will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Jones Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, November 27, 2021 from 5:00-8:00 PM.

Tom Tungate, Jeremy Mings, Robert Campbell, Wayne Watson, Trent Watson, Tony Mings, Ben Hamilton, and Mike Squires will serve as pallbearers.

Phillip Garnett Burris, 68

Phillip Garnett Burris of Campbellsville, the son of the late Garnett and Donna (Hamilton) Burris was born June 15, 1953 in Taylor County, KY and departed this life on Sunday, November 21, 2021 in Louisville at the Norton Women and Children’s Hospital. He was 68 years of age.

He was an employee of Manchester Tank as a forklift operator, the owner of Do Dat Mowing in Campbellsville and attended the 3Trees Church.

Phillip enjoyed camping, and training his five Chihuahuas to howl to famous TV commercials. Techie Camper has all the experience and trusted information on camping for beginners.

Survivors include his wife: Darlene (Compton) Burris of Campbellsville, Two sons: Anthony Burris of Campbellsville and Shannon Burris and wife Ranita of Lebanon, Missouri; five grandchildren: Hope, Alize, Chloe, Zoe and Sarah; a sister-in-law: Janet Mills and wife Steve of Campbellsville; a brother: Todd Burris and wife Theresa and a host of other relatives and friends survive.

The funeral service for Phillip Garnett Burris will be conducted Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.

Bro. Ron Blair will be officiating.

Family requests visitation from 5-8 PM on Friday at the funeral home.

Juanita Harrison, 76

Juanita Kay Harrison of Campbellsville, the daughter of the late Roy and Pearl (Dixon) Sexton, was born August 19, 1945 in Taylor County, KY and departed this life on Saturday, November 20, 2021 in Louisville at the Norton Brownsboro Hospital. She was 76 years of age.
She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the St. Andrew United Methodist Church and was a former custodial worker and was a nurse in the Emergency Room and Nursing Home.
She enjoyed sewing, shopping, playing aggravation and other board games, but always found time to see her great-grandbabies.
She united in marriage to James Harold Harrison, who preceded her in death in 2020.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Frank and Tom Sexton and four sisters: Geneva Mattingly, Dorothy Claycomb, Jewell Beard and Lois Graham.
Juanita is survived by a daughter: Lisa Bryant and her husband Barry of Campbellsville; two grandchildren: Michella Bryant of Louisville and Michael Bryant and wife Keisha of Columbia; two great-grandchildren: Sophie and Lilly Bryant; three sisters: Wilma Farmer and husband Gerald, Sue Burris and husband Jackie and Linda Castillo and husband Pepi and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Juanita Kay Harrison will be Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 4:00 P.M. in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home.
Bro. Lanny Garner will be officiating.
Family requests visitation after 2:00 P.M. Tuesday until time for the service.

Mechelle Giles, 57

Mrs. Mechelle Denise Giles of Columbia, daughter of Shirley (Watson) Patton and the late Bobby Patton, was born in Casey County on May 8, 1964. She departed this life on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at her home, being 57 years of age. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and attended the Mt. Zion Church of God. Mrs. Giles was a homemaker, and the cherished wife of Timothy J. Giles, who survives.

Besides her husband, Tim Giles, she is also survived by:

Her mother: Shirley Patton of Liberty,

Three children: “Little” Tim Giles, Robin Franklin and husband Jonathan, and Ethan Giles, all of Adair County,

A brother: Bobby Patton, Jr. of Liberty,

Four grandchildren: Brynlee Franklin, Conner Franklin, Caden Franklin, and Kinslee Giles,

A special cousin: Alice Goble of Glasgow,

A close nephew: Shannon Patton,

And a host of other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Angela Wethington.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Giles on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 2:00 PM EST (1:00 PM CST) at the Mt. Zion Church of God, 1640 Eastridge Cemetery Rd, Columbia, KY 42728. Bro. Alex Cox will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Caldwell Chapel Cemetery in Adair County.

The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, Nov. 20, from 11:00 AM EST (10:00 AM CST) until time for the service.

On September 14, 2021, Mechelle became the first woman in the world to receive an Aeson artificial heart. Giving first acknowledgement to God, her family would also like to thank UofL Health – Jewish Hospital, CARMAT, and Drs. Mark Slaughter and Siddharth Pahwa and their teams, for their professionalism and care. Because of them, she was able to enjoy family shopping trips to Walmart and other average, ordinary things again. Mechelle always hoped something could be learned from her experience that may help others with similar conditions, and her family continues to champion research.

Marjorie Purvis Edwards, 82

Mrs. Marjorie Sue Edwards of Campbellsville was born on January 11, 1939 in Louisville to the late Jessie and Ardella (Schmidt) Provenozano Purvis. She departed this life on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at the Norton Pavilion in Louisville, being 82 years, 10 months, and 3 days of age. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of First Church of God. She was a retiree of the Cmapbellsville Independent School District, having worked primarily as a bus moniter, and a former employee of Fruit of the Loom. A very proud wife, mother, and grandmother, she also had a very strong faith in God – and loved her church family almost as much as her own.

Ten great-grandchildren: Caleb Hughes, Logan Reliford, Isaac Underwood, Zachery Johnson, Ethan Knifley, Landon Knifley, Lillian Mann, Gunner Mann, Regan Jessie, and Brylee Sprowles,

A daughter-in-law: Trina Farmer of Columbia,

And a host of other family and friends.

She was also preceded in death by three children: Karen Sue Farmer, Sharon Kaye Lawson, and Robert Albert Farmer; and a grandson: Joshua Knifley.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Edwards on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 11:00 AM EST in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY 42718. Bro. Evan Tedder will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, November 18, from 5:00-8:00 PM EST.
