Carolyn Patricia Shofner

Carolyn Patricia Shofner of Campbellsville, the daughter of the late Delmer and Myrtle (Goode) Bright, was born June 29, 1946, in Marion County, KY, and departed this life on Monday, October 13, 2025, at the Taylor Regional Hospital. She was 79 years of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Methodist faith.

Carolyn was a former Walmart Associate, having retired after 38 years.

She enjoyed fishing at Green River Lake, watching crime shows on TV, and spending time with her dogs, Bogey and Snickers.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donnie Coleman Shofner; a daughter, Donna Lisa Shofner; three brothers and two sisters: Wilbur, Roger, and Tony Bright, Rosaline Cooley, and Lucille Daniels.

Survivors include a daughter: Ashley Shofner of Campbellsville; her sisters-in-law: Sue Bright, Carolyn Bright, Viola Watson and Joe, Jane Milby and Bob, Kaye Hatcher, Gail Price and Robert, Nevon Wolf, and George and Peggy Shofner; her brothers-in-law: Dean Shofner and Trisha and Scotty Shofner and a host of other relatives and friends.

FUNERAL: Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 1:00 P.M.

VISITATION: after 11:00 A.M. Saturday until the time for the funeral service.

James Edward “Snowman” Atwood, Jr.,

James Edward “Snowman” Atwood, Jr., of Campbellsville, the son of the late James Edward Atwood, Sr., and Bertha Marie (Cox) Sluder, was born September 21, 1962, in Campbellsville and departed this life on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at the Taylor Regional Hospital. He was 63 years of age.

He was a mechanic and of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Stephanie (Rogers) Atwood; his children: Colby Atwood and companion Laurel Gillmer, Jamie Atwood, Brandon Cox, Jared Cox and companion Lora Jessie, Harley Cox, and Caleb Buckman and wife Sarah.

Also four brothers and a sister: Joy Mae Helm, Jerry Atwood, Roger Atwood, Theresa Gail Atwood and Waylon Atwood, and companion Rochelle.

Twenty-one grandchildren: Keyton, Kynlee, Emily, Alex, Justice, Colby, Braydn, Braylynn, Josie, Josslynn, Kylee, Laina, Bentley, Aubrey, Katon, Brayson, Kingston, Stella Mae, John, Mary Clair, and Aquistia.

His mother-in-law and father-in-law: Robert and Nancy Rogers.

Besides his father and mother, he was preceded in death by a grandchild: Kingston.

FUNERAL: Sunday, October 12, 2025, at 1:00 P.M.

George “Bill” Van Cleave, 90

George William (Bill) Van Cleave of Campbellsville, KY and Boulder, CO, son of the late Rhodam Parrott Van Cleave and Hattie Bell Van Cleave, was born on October 17, 1934 and departed this life surrounded by friends and family on October 7, 2025 at his cousin’s, Shirley Phillips’, Mini-Home in Campbellsville, KY.  He was 90 years, 11 months and 19 days of age.

Professionally, he served honorably in the United States Army Defense Command as a Chief Warrant Officer in Washington DC and Baltimore, MD.  From there he earned his Bachelors and Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kentucky and went on to become a Senior Engineer at IBM in Lexington, KY; Boulder, CO; SanJose, CA, and Austin, TX.  He also helped invent and develop the first modern day office copy machine that was found in businesses across the world.  After retiring from IBM, he studied Patent Law and went on to become a Patent Agent Attorney until he retired a second time.

Playing bridge and flying were his hobbies, and he became a licensed single engine plane and commercial airline pilot.  He loved flying people over the Rocky Mountains.  He maintained his faith through the Methodist Church, as a child at Greensburg Methodist Church, as a young adult at Nicholasville Methodist Church, and most recently with his church family at Stoner Creek Methodist Church in Acton, KY.

Bill is survived by his daughter & son-in law, Dr. Vicki Van Cleave and Stanley Lawrence, 3 grandchildren:  Andee Grandits of Boulder, CO; Nick Lawrence (Dejá) of Las Vegas, NV; Nicole Ortega (David) of Chesterfield, VA; 5 great grandchildren; his caregiver of nearly 8 years, Betty Smith; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends across the world.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Ruth Kilby Van Cleave (86y) in 2022; his son, Michael Van Cleave (51y) in 2019; his granddaughter, Mia Miller (16y) in 2014, along with many friends and family of his generation that were so important to him.

Karol Wade “Joe” Bloyd

Karol Wade “Joe” Bloyd, of Campbellsville, the son of the late Arnold and Doris (Judd) Bloyd, was born August 13, 1952 in Green County, KY and departed this life on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at his home. He was 73 years of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Campbellsville Separate Baptist Church and was a retired employee of the Green County Board of Education in the maintenance department.

He was a “jack of all trades”, enjoyed working on cars, loved a good looking lawn, and was very competitive when it came to card playing, but most of all, he loved spending time with family.

Survivors include his loving wife: Betty (Bailey) Bloyd of Campbellsville; his children: Brad Bloyd and wife Amy and Kyle Bloyd and wife Cecile all of Greensburg, Willie Warren and wife Jamie and Shaun Hines of Campbellsville.

Three brothers and two sisters: Roger Bloyd and wife Barbara Jean and Janie Penick and husband Doug all of Campbellsville, David Bloyd and wife Beverly and Eddie Bloyd and wife Sharon all of Greensburg and Linda Warner and husband Steve of Campbellsville.

Seven grandchildren: Amber Abell and husband Jordan, Halie Hall and husband Hagan, Brodie Warren, Kaden Bloyd, Gradie Warren, Kynslee Bloyd and Kree Bloyd; three great-grandchildren: Holland Hall, Silas Abell and Anna Kate Abell and a host of other relatives and friends.

FUNERAL: Friday, October 10, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home.

Deborah Lynn (Pruyear) Pittman

Deborah Lynn (Pruyear) Pittman, of Campbellsville, KY, the daughter of the late Barbara Elizabeth (Hill) Pruyear, was born August 14, 1958 in Marion County, KY and departed this life on Thursday, October 2, 2025 in Lexington at the UK Medical Center. She was 67 years of age.

She was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom and Campbellsville Apparel and was of the Catholic Faith.

Deborah enjoyed cats, owls, gardening, reading and yard sales, but most of all being a caregiver, she was crazy about children.

Survivors include a daughter: Amanda Lynn Berg and husband Justin of Campbellsville; two brothers and a sister: Carolyn Rose and husband Jessy of Corydon, Indiana, Wayne Pruyear and wife Rosemary and Gary Pruyear, all of Campbellsville.

Also surviving is an aunt: Darlene Gootee of Louisville and her special babies: Harli and Bub and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Cremation rites were entrusted to the L.R. Petty Funeral Home in Campbellsville.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Mannsville Christian Church on October 11, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. All family and friends are invited to attend.
