Lula Mae (Pierce) Farmer

Lula Mae Pierce Farmer of Campbellsville, KY, the daughter of the late William R. Pierce and Pearlee Smothers Pierce was born on February 16, 1932, in Lebanon, KY, and departed this life on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at the Taylor Regional Hospital. She was 92 years of age.

She was of the Catholic Faith and was a homemaker. She enjoyed doing needlepoint, tending to her flowers and garden, watching birds and wildlife, and was known to make the best banana pudding and jam cake. She was a wonderful grandmother and found the good in everybody she met.

In 1948, she united in marriage to James Bernard Farmer and he preceded her in death in 2000.

She is survived by two children: Elizabeth Cissie Hunt and husband Johnny of Campbellsville, and James Terry Farmer and his wife Becky of Hodgenville. Nine grandchildren: John Hunt (Andrea) of North Carolina, Shannon Hunt Cox (Donald Wayne) of Campbellsville, Tonya Farmer Kuklinski of Mississippi, Kristin Farmer Taylor (Mark) of South Carolina, Sara Farmer Kelley (Gabe) of Indiana, Josh Farmer of Bardstown, Melissa Farmer Brundage (Kris) of Bardstown, Joe Farmer (Karen) of Leitchfield, and Jimmy Farmer of Indiana along with 20 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Also, surviving are one sister and one brother: Verna Jean McDaniel and David Pierce both of Indiana.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons: Doug Farmer and Bobby Farmer, and eight siblings: J.L. Pierce, Cecil Pierce, Elizabeth Gordon, Evelyn Hall, Samuel Pierce, Geraldine Jones, Alma Jane Denney, and Carolyn Miller.

There will be a Funeral Service for Lula Mae Pierce Farmer at the St. Augustine Catholic Church at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 13, 2025, with burial to follow in Lebanon National Cemetery.

Deacon Joe Dant will officiate.

The family has requested visitation on Sunday, January 12, 2025, from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home in Campbellsville.

Darla Dawn Padilla

Darla Dawn Padilla of Loretto, KY, the daughter of Dennis Middleton and the late Beverly Rentschler Middleton was born on November 14, 1961, in Fort Wayne, IN, and departed this life on Monday, January 6, 2025, at her residence. She was 63 years of age.

She was of the Church of God Faith and enjoyed spending time on her computer. Her family says she was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Besides her father, she is survived by her husband: Felipe’ Padilla of Loretto, and three children: Mark James of Dallas, TX, Jamie Newcomb, and James Newcomb, and wife Michelle all of Lebanon along with ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Also, surviving are two brothers and three sisters: Marcus Middleton, Kevin Middleton, Kimberly Middleton, Lisa Cox, and Kirsten Hosier.

There will be a Funeral Service for Darla Dawn Padilla at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 9, 2025, with burial to follow in the St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Loretto.

Bro. Freddy Thompson will officiate.

The family has requested visitation on Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Mark Steven Allen of Campbellsville, KY, the son of the late Roy Allen and Betty Larson Allen was born on April 1, 1962, and departed this life on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at his residence. He was 62 years of age.

He professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist Faith. He was employed as a maintenance man and as an electrician. He enjoyed making his coffee, hunting, fishing, and music and played in the family group The Gospel Carriers.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Teena Ellen Allen, his parents, and one grandson, Walker Ellis Cook.

He is survived by his three children: Emily Cook and her husband Kelby of Bowling Green, Hannah Allen of Campbellsville, and Joshua Allen of Foley, Alabama. Two grandchildren: Sadie Grace Allen and Jack Foster Cook.

Also surviving are three sisters: Angel Allen of Campbellsville, Debbie McCubbin and husband Greg of Vero Beach, Florida, and Brenda Ford of Campbellsville along with several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

There will be a Funeral Service for Mark Steven Allen at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Brookside Cemetery in Campbellsville.

Bro. Dan Durham will officiate.

In lieu of flowers the family would like any contributions to be donated to the organization below. His grandson, Walker passed of this gene mutation at 20 months of age.

Regina Ann Smith of Campbellsville, KY, the daughter of the late Joe Tom Burress and Ila Jean Patterson Burress was born on July 2, 1960, and departed this life on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was 64 years of age.

She was a former Nursing Home Aide and a homemaker and attended the Digging Well Ministries. She enjoyed animals, friends, tv, talking on the phone, caring for children, and her family, and going to church, Jesus and George Jones.

She is survived by her husband: Gregory Smith of Campbellsville and two daughters: Amy Bottom of Greensburg, and Breanna Smith of Campbellsville. Four grandchildren: Erica, Bridget, Tyler, and Christy. Seven Great-grandchildren: Ana, Jairo, Olivia, Angelina, Noah, Abraham, and Abel. Also, one sister: Jennifer Ford of Campbellsville, an Aunt: Rose Scholl (Burl) of Indiana, and a host of Cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law: Eric Ford.

There will be a Funeral Service for Regina Ann Smith at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, January 3, 2025, with burial to follow in the Brookside Cemetery.

Shawn Thomas Sweeney

Shawn Thomas Sweeney of Campbellsville, KY, was born on May 10, 1997, in Campbellsville, and departed this life on December 21, 2024, at his residence. He was 28 years of age.

He was of the Christian Faith and was self-employed doing odd jobs wherever he could. He loved drawing, doing mechanic work, listening to rock music, being outdoors in the sunshine, and especially loved his Mama.

He is survived by his parents: Michael Lee Sweeney and fiancé Tammy Hancock, and Sheree Lynn Brockman and husband Donnie all of Campbellsville. Two brothers and two sisters: Nicholas Depp Glover of Campbellsville, Brook Sheree Sweeney of Lebanon, Michael W. Sweeney, and Rebecca J. Sweeney both of Texas. One nephew: Richard L. McDonald.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Gordon and Sandra Rainwater, John H. Sweeney and Ruby M. Sweeney, and his great-grandmother: Marjorie Cave.

The funeral service for Shawn Thomas Sweeney will be Friday, December 27, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home with burial to follow in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.

Rev. Brian Rafferty will officiate.

The family has requested visitation on Friday, December 27, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
