Laura Bell Lawson, 97

Laura Bell Lawson of Campbellsville, KY, the daughter of the late Jethro C. Glenn and Ida Bacon Glenn, was born in Campbellsville, KY, on January 30, 1927, and departed this life on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the Green River Trails Nursing Home in Greensburg, KY. She was 97 years of age.

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the South Campbellsville Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, and fishing.

She is survived by three children: J.C. Lawson (Peggy), Wanda Causey (Jack), and Marsha Estes, all of Campbellsville. 5 grandchildren: Jennifer Bell (Robbie), DeAnna Cropper (Jeremy), Adam Lawson (Gretchen), Stephanie Gibson (Kenton), and Laura Waymon. 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister: Henrietta Oakes and a host of other relatives and friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Chester “Red” Lawson, one grandchild: Erica Tiffany Lawson, and six siblings: Thomas Richard Glenn, Bobby Lee Glenn, Mary Lou Glenn, Dorothy Merideth, Edna Kilby, and Stella Martin.

The funeral service for Laura Bell Lawson will be held Saturday, August 31, 2024, at noon at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Brookside Cemetery.

 Bro. Jimmie Nelson and Jimmie Nelson, Jr. will officiate.

The family has requested visitation on Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be: Adam Lawson, Ryan Tungate, Justin Humphress, Kayden Bell, Conner Gibson, and Chase Gibson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Benzley Tucker, Bryar Tucker, Carson Tungate, Robbie Bell, Kenton Gibson, Jeremy Cropper, and David Veramontes.

Marty Carl Carpenter, 63

Marty Carl Carpenter the son of Shirley and Ronald Williamson, was born in Long Beach, California on December 6, 1960, and passed away on August 19, 2024.  He was 63 years young.

Marty enjoyed sports and had a love of fishing.

He is survived by his wife: Tammy Carpenter, his children: Tonya Dempster, Matthew Carpenter, Amber Carpenter, Amanda, Jonathan, Jacob, and Olamae as well as 11 grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brothers Mike and Mark, and sisters Elisha, Shelly, Pamela, and Carletta along with many nieces and nephews

Marty is preceded in death by his parents.

 

Cremation was chosen and there will be no services at this time.

Herbie Gene Gilpin, 65

Herbie Gene Gilpin of Campbellsville, KY, the son of the late James L. Gilpin and Frances Shofner Gilpin, was born in Campbellsville, KY, on October 2, 1959, and departed this life on Friday, August 16, 2024, at the Norton Hosparus Inpatient Center in Louisville, KY. He was 65 years of age.

He had been employed as a Convenience Store Clerk and he enjoyed all sports, short walks, and socializing with his neighbors.

He is survived by one son and one daughter, One sister: Vickie Gilpin, a special family friend: Debbie Sinclair, and his feline friend: Shadow, along with a host of aunts, uncles, and friends.

The family has chosen cremation and burial will be in the Brookside Cemetery.

There will be no services.

Joseph “Joe” George Keifer Jr., 62

Joseph “Joe” George Keifer Jr. of Campbellsville, the son of the late Joseph George Keifer Sr. and Edith Gail Melone Keifer, was born in Louisville, KY, on July 18, 1962, and departed this life on Saturday, August 10, 2024, in Campbellsville. He was 62 years of age.

He professed faith in Christ and attended the Lowell Ave. Baptist Church. He was employed as a Brick and Block Mason. He enjoyed gardening, flowers, and going fishing.

He is survived by one son: Brandon Scott Keifer and his wife Destiny of Campbellsville, and one granddaughter: Lila Reagan Keifer. Three sisters also survive: Bonnie McCullough of Campbellsville, Penny Keifer of Florida, and Tammy May and husband Joe of Lebanon. Special friends: Judy Keith, Lynn and Glenda Colvin, and Bill and Judy Boils.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Patricia Surface.

There will be a graveside service for Joseph “Joe” George Keifer Jr. on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at 12:00 P.M. at the Louisville Memorial Gardens 4400 Dixie Hwy. in Louisville, KY

Bro. Dave Griesemer will officiate.

The family requests visitation on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home Chapel, 1765 New Columbia Road in Campbellsville.
