Dannie Keith Newton, of Campbellsville, the son of the late Malcolm Derr and Elizabeth Ann (Agee) Newton, was born August 21, 1947 in Taylor County, KY and departed this life on Monday, August 28, 2023 at his home. He was 76 years of age.
He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of White’s Ridge General Baptist Church. He was a retired school bus driver for the Campbellsville Independent School System.
He enjoyed frying fish for events and churches, loved fishing, gardening and cooking cornbread and chocolate pies for his family, but most of all spending time with his grandbabies.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and sister: Glen Allen Newton and Martha Nell Benningfield, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife: Wanda Faye (Roberts) Newton; his children: Zandell Derr “Ziggy” Newton, Holly Avila, Dallas Shane Newton, James Hicks, Joseph Hicks, Melissa Edelen and Anthony Hicks and wife Marla.
Also three brothers: Orville Newton and wife Rena, Robbie Newton and wife Diane and Melvin Ray “Shorty” Newton and wife Delores; 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral service for Dannie Keith Newton will be Friday, September 1, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. in the Campbellsville Chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home.

Grover Glenn Tungate, of Campbellsville, the son of the late Grover and Juanita (Lawson) Tungate, was born June 13, 1953 in Taylor County, KY and departed this life on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at his home. He was 70 years of age.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter: Jennifer Gail Rakes, a brother Otha Tungate and a grandchild: Tiffany Warren.
He had made a profession of faith in Christ and attended the Jesus Name Church and was a former farmer, logger, dairy farm milker and a knife maker.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, guitar playing and lawn tractors.
Survivors include his wife Judy (Lawson) Tungate; a daughter: Karrie “Doodle” Pittman and husband Steve; five brothers and two sisters: Martin Tungate and wife Debbie, Clinton, Larry, Benny, Charlie Tungate, Katie Pike and Edith Lowe.
Also four grandchildren: Hazel Rakes, Lucas, Courtney and Trinity Pittman; three great-grandchildren: Jessica Smothers and Oliver and Blake Hall and a host of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service for Grover Glenn Tungate will be Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. in the Campbellsville chapel of L.R. Petty Funeral Home.
Interment in the Jesus Name Church Cemetery.

James Michael “Mike” Denton, 66, of Taylorsville, KY, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023.
He is survived two children: Michael Anthony Denton and Jamie Michelle Wheatley and husband Ryan. Three chosen children: Tim Underwood, Kevin Underwood and Karri Underwood.
Five grandchildren Kristopher Denton, Ayden Denton, Vincent Wheatley, Rynn Wheatley, and Jacob Pike.
His companion: Ann Foreman, Two sisters and one brother: Lavinia Denton, Roger Denton and Tonya Denton.
There will be a funeral service for James Michael “Mike” Denton on Monday August 28, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home Chapel, 1765 new Columbia Rd. in Campbellsville. Bro. Jim Collison Sr. will officiate.
The family requests visitation on Monday August 28, 2023 from 11:00 A.M. until time of the service at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home.
Mr. Denton will be awarded full military honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard with cremation to follow the service.

Geri Daneen Bland Stanley of Hodgenville, KY, daughter of Gerald “Jerry” Bland and the late Linda Tucker Bland, was born December 8, 1965 in Indianapolis, IN and departed this life on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown. She was 57 years of age.
She professed faith in Christ and attended Greater Works Church in Hodgenville. She loved gardening, feeding the birds, her dogs: Sam and Ben, and spending time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed teaching and studying the Bible with her friends.
She united in marriage to Jackey “Jack” Randall Stanley who preceded her in death in 2020.
Survivors include her daughter: Jessica Wafford and husband Ryan of Hodgenville, Her father: Gerald “Jerry” Bland and significant other Cecile Moore of Mannsville, KY, one brother: Jason Bland and wife Kim of Campbellsville. Three grandchildren: Evan Wafford, Owen Wafford, and Hensley Wafford all of Hodgenville. One niece: Madelyn Bland.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother, Linda Tucker Bland, one daughter: Gentry Michael Stanley, one brother: Michael Todd Bland, and a nephew: Dylan Michael Bland.
The funeral service for Geri Daneen Bland Stanley will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 11 A.M. at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Tallow Creek Cemetery.
Pastor Edward Palmer will officiate.
The family request visitation on Friday, August 25, 2023 from 5 – 8 P.M. at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Ryan Todd, Jansen Hughes, Kerry Gusler, Brad Underwood, David Tucker, Kent Bland

Mrs. Judy Ann Vetter of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Wathell and Edna (Clark) Bishop, passed from this life on Friday, August 18, 2023 at the UL Jewish Hospital in Louisville. Born on August 21, 1943 in Taylor County, she was 79 years of age. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and formerly attended the South Campbellsville Baptist Church. She was a retiree of Fruit of the Loom and was a homemaker.
She enjoyed playing Bingo, online games, watching The Price is Right and Westerns.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Robert Vetter, on October 18, 2014, and a son, Terry King, on December 31, 2019. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Charles “C.J.” Bishop, Gordon Bishop, Garnett Bishop, and Danny Bishop.
She leaves to cherish her memory:
Two daughters: Lisa Hoosier and husband Daniel, and Tracy Thompson and husband Garrett, a sister: Mary Lois Powell.
Thirteen grandchildren,
Twenty-six great-grandchildren,
And a host of other family members and friends.
There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Vetter on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 1:00 PM EDT (12:00 PM CDT) in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY. Bro. Freddy Thompson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, Aug. 22, from 11:00 AM until time for the service.
