Edwin Joseph Lewis, 87

Edwin Joseph Lewis, of Martins Ferry, Ohio, was born August 31, 1934 in Martins Ferry and departed this life on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 in Lebanon at the Springview Hospital. He was 87 years of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Vineyard Church in Wheeling, West Virginia and was a self-employed contractor, owning and operating Lewis Construction.

Mr. Lewis was a United States Army Veteran from 1955-1957, having served during the Korean War peacetime and was stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas.

He was a former marathon runner, enjoyed playing tennis, golf and was an avid reader. He was given the name Berg in his younger years by Bob, his brother-in-law and later transitioned to Lewis and was always called poppy by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He united in married to his high school sweetheart, Patricia (Patton) Lewis in 1955.

Besides his wife Patricia, he is survived by a daughter: Dr. Candyce Roberts and her husband Dr. Ray and a son: Mark Lewis and wife Pearl; his grandchildren: Heather (Adam) Russell, Dr. Summer (Josh) Tucker, Kendal (Justin) Harden, Brock Lewis and Clay Lewis; his great-grandchildren: River Russell, Seth Russell, Magnolia Russell, Rowan Russell, Witman Tucker, Finley Tucker, Chamberlain Tucker, Millie Tucker, Poppi Harden, Iris Harden, Lux Harden, Honey Harden and Vere Harden all residing in Campbellsville and a brother-in-law: LTC Bob Patton and wife Joan of West Virginia.

A memorial and celebration of life service for Edwin Joseph Lewis will be Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 12:00 P.M. for family and friends in Campbellsville at the Vineyard Church.

Dorothy Dickens, 76

Dorothy Dickens, the daughter of the late Chandler and Lorene (Perkins) Claywell, was born July 25, 1945 in Taylor County, KY and departed this life on Monday, February 14, 2022 in Campbellsville at her home. She was 76 years of age.
She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the South Campbellsville Baptist Church.
She was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom and a former employee of Amazon and The Grandview Nursing and Rehab.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: Don Richard Claywell.
Dorothy is survived by: her husband: Jim Dickens; two children: Pam Mills and husband Terry and Timmy Dickens and his companion Jennifer all of Campbellsville.; two sisters; Betty Smith and Phyllis Heisler, both of Louisville; eight grandchildren: Dusty & Elliott Long, Jamie and Nathaniel Mills, Amber, Daniel, Trotter and Bayli Dickens; sixteen great-grandchildren: Kylie, Jaxon, Courtney, Easton, Leah, Dallas, Hazel, Hadley, Iris, Logan, Wyatt, Marlee, Joshua, Kingson, Stella and Ellie Mae and a host of other relatives and friends.

Rebecca Cheyenne Bray

Rebecca Cheyenne Bray, the infant daughter of BJ and Patricia Ann “Trish” Durbin Bray of Panama City, Florida, formerly of Knifley, was stillborn Thursday, February 10, 2022 in Florida at the Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center.

Besides her parents, she is survived by her grandparents: Eddie and Teresa Durbin and Bobby and Deedra Bray; her great-grandmother: Pauletta Tucker, all of Knifley; her uncles and aunts: Steven Durbin, Nathan Durbin and wife Staphany, Joseph Durbin and wife Lindsay, Joshua Durbin and wife Sierra, Jessee Durbin and wife Alex and Jeremy and wife Hanna and Paul Bray and a host of cousins and other relatives.

A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. EST (10 CST) at the Robinson Chapel Cemetery at Knifley.

THE WILL BE NO VISITATION PRIOR TO SERVICE.

Nathan Ireland, 56

Mr. Nathan Brown Ireland of Campbellsville was born in Pottsboro, Texas to the late Richard Brown and Doris Jean (Mann) Ireland on November 21, 1965. He departed this life on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at the Taylor Regional Hospital, being 56 years, 2 months, and 2 days of age. Mr. Ireland was a painter by trade, and an avid outdoorsman.

He leaves to cherish his memory:

Two stepchildren: Bre White and Daniel White,

A step-grandchild: Aden,

Seven siblings: Terry Hockridge, Marie Ramey, Mitzi Day, Cindy Ireland, Celah Ireland, Meldoy Moen, and Christi Ireland,

And a host of extended family and friends.

The family chose cremation. To honor the wishes of Mr. Ireland, a memorial service was conducted privately.

Willie “Bill” Sluder, 94

Mr. Willie Murrell “Bill” Sluder of Campbellsville, son of the late Dewey and Dora (Campbell) Sluder, was born in Knifley on April 16, 1927. He departed this life on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the Taylor Regional Hospital, being 94 years, 9 months, and 27 days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Campbellsville Church of the Nazarene. Mr. Sluder was a retired hod carrier by trade. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served his country honorably during World War II. He enjoyed conversation, and spent much of his latter years socializing at church or Druthers.

He leaves to cherish his memory:
Five children: Larry Sluder and wife Deborah, Randy Sluder and wife Lorraine, Cary Jenkins, Tim Sluder and wife Elizabeth, and Gail Wethington and wife Chris,
Two brothers: Coy Sluder and wife Mary, and Wayne Sluder and wife Mary,
Thirteen grandchildren,
And a host of great, and great-great, grandchildren, and several other family members and friends.

Mr. Sluder was also preceded in death by his wife: June (Wilson) Warren Sluder; a daughter: Mary Darlene Dike; and seven siblings: Imogene Compton, Audrey Eastridge, Doyle Austin Sluder, Elmer Sluder, Winfrey Sluder, Edith Ferguson, and Ray Sluder.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Sluder on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Campbellsville Church of the Nazarene, 912 W Main St, Campbellsville, KY. Rev. David Young will officiate. Burial will follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens Cemetery, with full military honors being conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday, Feb. 15, after 9:00 AM until time for the service.
