Juanita Newton of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Sammie T. Benningfield and Rinnie L. Short Benningfield was born April 15, 1930 in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 4:33 P.M., Friday, August 13, 2021 at her home. Age: 91
She professed faith in Christ and was a devoted member of Good Hope Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and was active in the Women’s Missionary Union for many years.
She worked in the cafeteria for the Campbellsville School System where she enjoyed getting to work with the kids. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy and she was always their biggest supporter. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, and friend to all who knew her.
She united in marriage to Lynwood Newton May 14, 1949.
Besides her husband, Lynwood Newton of Campbellsville, she is survived by two daughters and two sons: Judy Dabney of Campbellsville, Deborah Wade and husband, Dee of Louisville, Jeff Newton and wife, Cathy of Campbellsville and Russ Newton and wife Krista of Buckner; eight grandchildren: Traver Dabney and wife, Kelli of Versailles, Tara Dabney of Chicago, Seth Wade of Louisville, Jenny Newton and husband, Eric, Ben Newton and wife, Sheere, Drew Newton and wife Megan, of Campbellsville, Grant Newton and Macy Newton of Buckner; fourteen great-grandchildren: Catherine Dabney, Olivia Dabney, Scarlet Dabney of Versailles, Parker Newton, Sarah Newton, Sophia Newton, Lilly Newton, Emma Newton, Myles Newton, Avery Newton, Bryce Newton and Riley Newton, Tate Newton and Luke Newton of Campbellsville; one sister and one brother: Shirley Coffey and Eldon Benningfield and wife, Judy of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Terry M. Dabney,; five sisters and two brothers: Madlyn Parrott, Ruby Morris, Dewell Richerson, Majeal Hutchins, Jenny Underwood, Glenn Benningfield and Ralph Benningfield.

Henry Milton Jones, Jr. of Campbellsville, son of the late Henry Milton Jones, Sr. and India Maude McCubbin Jones, was born April 14, 1933, in Green County, Kentucky. He died at 7:45 A.M., Wednesday, August 4, 2021 in Campbellsville. Age: 88
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon, church treasurer, worship leader and was a Sunday School teacher for over forty years.
Milton was a life-long farmer and was a former member of the Taylor County ASF Office and Taylor County Farm Bureau. He also served on the Taylor County Democratic Executive Committee and the Taylor County School Board for sixteen years. He was also a Gideon for several years.
He united in marriage to Geraldine Goff January 30, 1952.
Besides his wife, Geraldine Jones of Campbellsville, he is survived by one son and one daughter: Jason Jones and Sharon Harris and husband, Brian of Campbellsville; three grandchildren: Carly Ann Davis of Nashville, Tennessee, Sara Harris and fiancé, Meong Kwak of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Ben Harris-Medina and wife, Ely of Lexington; adopted grandson, Neil Hooper of Campbellsville; two brothers: David Jones and wife, Johnette of Boston, Massachusetts and Donald Jones and wife, Betty of Killeen, Texas; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Paul M. and Tammy Jones and one brother and one sister: Vontress Jones and Louise Mings.

Paul Clark of Greensburg, Kentucky, son of the late Raymond P. Clark and Mary Davidson Clark, was born July 2, 1932 Kalkaska, Michigan. He died at 10:55 P.M., Friday, July 30, 2021 at the home of his daughter in Middletown, Ohio.
Age: 89
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Greensburg Baptist Church.
He was retired as a master sergeant from the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts.
He united in marriage to Thelma “Pinkie” Smith April 22, 1961 and she preceded him in death August 9, 2018.
He is survived by three daughters and one son: Connie Coin and Terri Smolenski and husband, Joe of Louisville, Mike Clark and wife, Lori of Jacksonville, Florida and Milli Coverdale and husband, Andrew of Middletown, Ohio; seven grandchildren: Chris Coin, Savannah Coin, Adam Sengkhamyong, Erik Clark, Meghan Clark, Will Coverdale and Chloe Coverdale; one great grandson, Colton Coin; one brother, Larry Clark of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Beau Coin; one sister, Marcille Blevins and a daughter-in-law, Carrie Coin.

Marjorie H. Bale, age 92, of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Howard Thomas Hodges and Mayme Thomas Milby Hodges, was born February 13, 1929 in Green County, Kentucky. She passed away at her home in Campbellsville on July 30, 2021.
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.
She was an educator for forty-four years teaching primarily in the Taylor County School Systems.
She united in marriage to Hulet Garnett Bale August 12, 1950. He preceded her in death April 12, 2001.
She is survived by one daughter: Garnetta Murrell and husband, Richard of Campbellsville; three grandchildren, Dr. Morgan Larkin and husband, Clay of Lexington, Makenzie Murrell of Bowling Green, and Myles Murrell of Campbellsville; two sisters: Mary Jean Gardner and husband, Todd of Greensburg, Judith Ann Resch and husband, Jerry of Pensacola, Florida. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister: Kenneth Hodges, Howard Hodges, William Hodges and Virginia Hodges.

Max Heath, 75, died July 28, 2021. Heath is a native of Campbellsville, KY and the son of the late Harry Heath, a Kentucky newspaperman, and Virginia Allen Heath. His brother, Harold Heath, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, the former Ruth Ann Sullivan, also of Campbellsville, a son Jason, of Louisville and nephews Ricky Heath of Chicago and Chad Heath of Greensburg.
He retired in 2008 as vice-president, postal/acquisitions of Landmark Community Newspapers, Shelbyville, KY, where he had resided since 1980.
For 22 years he was executive editor responsible for recruiting, training, and news quality improvement for 54 paid weekly and daily newspapers in 13 states with over 300,000 paid circulation. For 23 years he was circulation director as well, helping grow paid circulation and training circulation managers.
He was a self-styled “country editor” who edited and managed non-daily newspapers in KY and IN and served as regional manager for numerous LCNI properties.
Heath served 35 years as chair of the Postal Committee of the National Newspaper Association and wrote a monthly Postal Tips column for Publisher’s Auxiliary. He was named to the Postal Service Mailer’s Technical Advisory Committee representing NNA from 1989 to 2017.
He received the NNA President’s Award in 1989 and 1997, Ambassador Award in 1992, and coveted Amos Award for service to community newspapers in 1994. He conducted seminars on “Maximizing Postal Savings and Delivery” for newspaper associations and groups for 25 years.
He was general manager of News Publishing Company, Tell City, Indiana, and editor of The Perry County News from 1975-80. In 1978 The News was awarded “Blue Ribbon Weekly” for best non-daily in Indiana by the Hoosier State Press Association.
Heath worked more than 10 years as a journalist in his hometown of Campbellsville. He was managing editor of the semiweekly Central Kentucky News-Journal in 1974-75, and editor & general manager of The News Journal from 1971-74 and part of 1969.
From 1969-71, he served in the Army as an information specialist in Alabama and Thailand, where he was editor of the newspaper for U.S. Army Support Thailand.
From 1965-69, he worked his way through Campbellsville University (which gave him a Distinguished Alumnus award in 1987). He was sports editor and news editor of the Central Kentucky News. In 1968, KPA awarded him Best Sports Page in KY. Prior to that, he was a sportswriter for The News-Journal in high school. He also edited his high school newspaper. He free-lanced for The Courier-Journal from 1969-75.
Heath has served as president of the Kentucky Press Association; Louisville chapter of Society of Professional Journalists; the United Way of Perry County, IN; the Perry County Unit, American Cancer Society; director of the Tell City Kiwanis Club; and the Hoosier State Press Association.
He was named to the Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame in 1996. He was given LCNI’s first President’s Award for Outstanding Service in 1990. He received the Edwards M. Templin award from KPA in 1992 for service to the community. He was named KPA’s Most Valuable Member in 1985 and 1988 and earned a 110% Award in 1983. He was also a Kentucky Colonel.
The Hoosier State Press Association gave him its Distinguished Service Award in January 2006, as did the Wisconsin Newspaper Association in 2010 and the Ohio News Media Association in 2019. The Institute for Rural Journalism and the Bluegrass Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists in Lexington KY presented Heath with the Al Smith Award for public service through community journalism in July 2012.
Heath was a member of Southeast Christian Church, where he volunteered as an usher for over 20 years and served on the operating and publishing boards of The Southeast Outlook, a weekly newspaper.
He enjoyed the sport of harness racing since his days as sports editor and partnered on KY Sire Stakes winners on both the pace and trot gaits. He and Ruth Ann enjoyed traveling, and visited 21 Caribbean islands, Hawaii and Taiwan, and many states with NNA conventions. They enjoyed country music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, and attended many concerts. He was a University of Louisville and Cincinnati Reds fan. A life highlight was attending every major league baseball park with Jason, and pride in him being an Eagle Scout.
