Geneva Sidebottom of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Charlie Thomas Morris and Lydia Goldie Vance Morris Young, was born November 10, 1926 in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 8:15 P.M., Wednesday, January 30, 2019 in Greensburg. Age: 92
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Elk Horn Baptist Church.
Geneva was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville.
She is survived by two sons and three daughters: Peggy Humphress and husband, Wally of Campbellsville, Kathy Bagby and husband, Larry of Mannsville, John Sidebottom and wife, Judy of Burlington, Jim Sidebottom and wife, Judy of Bardstown and Monta Rae Eastham and husband, Jeff of Sturgis; fourteen grandchildren: Tammie Creason, Randy Cox, Genesia Sallee (Timmy), Laura Sue Mason (Bill), Anthony Humphress (Katie), Amanda Rice, Derick Sidebottom, TJ Kabler, Kasey Sanders (Tara), Kelly Sanders, Nathanael Bell (Kirsten), Nicholas Eastham (Brittany), Dustin Eastham (Cori); two step-grandchildren: Shawn Bagby (Lindsey) and Jeramie Bagby (Brandy): twenty-four great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Sue Sallee June 11, 2005; a grandson, Chris Sallee June 10, 2017; one brother and two sisters: Joe Thomas Morris Febuary 9, 2003, Cleo Shofner Febuary 2, 2010, Marie Chewning Febuary 7, 2008.

Don B. Gabehart of Campbellsville, son of the late George W. Gabehart and Lissie Smallwood Gabehart, was born May 12, 1930, in Casey County, Kentucky. He died at 11:07 A.M., Wednesday, January 30, 2019 in Campbellsville. Age: 88
He professed faith in Christ and attended Acton Baptist Church.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served his country honorably in the United States Army.
Don was a former employee of Bourbon Cooperage in Lebanon. He was also a farmer and worked in concrete construction. He had a very competitive spirit, especially when playing corn hole and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and family meals.
He was a former member of the Merrimac Masonic Lodge.
He united in marriage to Norma Sue Herron May 8, 1965 and she preceded him in death November 26, 2017.
Don is survived by two daughters: Vickie Brock and husband, Eddie of Campbellsville and Melissa Neary and husband, David of Elizabethtown; six grandchildren: Skyler Swafford, Aaron Brock and wife, Elesha and Mackenzie Brock and wife, Jessika of Campbellsville, Chase Hubbard, Elizabeth Neary and Johnathan Neary of Elizabethtown; five great-grandchildren: Zoey, Penny, Kaylee, Hudson and Abaigail; one brother-in-law, Terry Herron of Campbellsville; one sister-in-law, Beatrice Herron of Liberty; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters: Roy Gabehart, Albert Gabehart, Murrell Gabehart, Colbert Gabehart, G. W. Gabehart, Lorena Wethington, Evelyn Dillingham and Irene Payne.

Janette Ellen Zieg Furkin, age 95, died peacefully on January 26, 2019 in Campbellsville, Kentucky. Born in Randolph, Nebraska on August 27, 1923, she was the youngest child and only daughter of Joseph L. Zieg and Nell Kennedy Zieg. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her older brothers, Raymond Gene Zieg and Jack Zieg.
On August 18, 1943, she married James C. “Perk” Furkin, who also predeceased her. They were married for 65 years and together raised three children who survive – James Furkin of Campbellsville, Tana Cooke of Bonita Springs, Florida and Scott Furkin (Mary Pace) of Louisville. She is also survived by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Having professed faith in Christ at an early age, she was an Elder of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and a longtime member of Bethel First Presbyterian Church. Known as “Miss Janette” to several generations, she operated Campbellsville Kindergarten at the church for more than 25 years. Each school day began with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance and the students were taught the alphabet, numbers, colors and other basics along with important socialization skills such as how to share and work cooperatively with others.
As a co-owner of Top Hat Caterers, she applied her creativity and culinary skills to produce memorable receptions, parties and events, spreading hospitality across central Kentucky for nearly 25 years. She was a proud Kentucky Colonel.
Among the first generation of American women born with suffrage, she took an interest in public affairs and always exercised her right to vote, including in the most recent election where she voted by absentee ballot. For 20 years, she worked at the polls every primary and general election day.
A member of the “Greatest Generation,” she shared its common values – duty, honor, economy, courage, service, love of God, family and country and, above all, responsibility for oneself. She saw the good in everyone, smiled even in the midst of adversity and reveled in the company of family and friends.

Lawrence George Rowell Jr., 63, of Campbellsville died January 25, 2019 surrounded by family.
Born in Moultrie, Ga., Larry was the son of the late Lawrence George Rowell Sr. and Earlene Wilson Rowell. He never met a stranger and had friends around the world.
He was a licensed real estate broker and past president of Rowell Realty and Auction Co. He became a minister in 1978 and served as associate pastor of Beargrass Christian Church in Louisville and pastor of First Baptist Church in Lyons, Ga. He and his family were missionaries in Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast and Nigeria. After returning to the states, he was minister of education at Campbellsville Baptist Church and pastor of Beech Grove Baptist Church in Black Gnat.
Larry was a staff writer and editor of the Casey County News in Liberty and interim editor for the Greensburg Record Herald in Greensburg. He was also involved in the community through Kiwanis and was a chaplain for the Campbellsville Taylor County Rescue Squad as well as serving on the Taylor, Adair and Casey County Foster Parent Review Boards.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Edwina Mills Rowell; son, Parker Rowell of Elizabethtown; brother, Tommy Rowell (Julie) of Moultrie, Ga.; sister, Becky Rowell (Uli Keller) of St. Simons Island, Ga.; brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be January 28, 2019 at 11:00 am at Campbellsville Baptist Church. Burial will be in Ekron Baptist Church Cemetery at 3:00 pm. Visitation is 5:00 – 8:00 pm, January 27, 2019 at Campbellsville Baptist Church and after 8:00 am, January 28, 2019 also at Campbellsville Baptist Church.

Betty Nelson Sharp of Campbellsville, daughter of the late William Nelson and Edna Stearman Nelson, was born March 8, 1921 in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 8:55 A.M., Monday, January 21, 2019 in Greensburg. Age: 97
She professed faith in Christ and had been a member of Robinson Creek Baptist Church since 1950.
Betty was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville.
She was a great cook and loved feeding her family.
She united in marriage to Raymond Hobson “Peanut” Sharp January 3, 1942 and he preceded her in death May 12, 1994.
She is survived by three sons: Kenneth Sharp and wife, Emma, Jerry Sharp and Randall Sharp and wife, Sharon of Campbellsville; six grandchildren: Evangela Sharp Cave and husband, Bernie, Ernie Sharp and wife, Cindie, Suzette Sharp Akridge and husband, Lee, Shanon Sharp Clark, Beth Sharp Wilson and husband, Terry, and Todd Sharp and wife, Brandie; sixteen great-grandchildren: Javen Cave, Karrie Cave, Zachery Sharp, Gabriel Sharp, Breanna Sharp, Samantha Akridge, Devan Wasson, Ashleigh Knopp and husband Travis, Austin Yates and wife, Jessie, Presley Wilson, Bobby Wilson, Gracie Wilson, Savanna Sharp, McKynzee Gumm, Keegan Zulager and Rylee Zulager; four great-great-grandchildren: Gunnar Cave, Jackson Knopp, Noah Knopp, Annabelle Knopp and expecting Lucy Knopp; two sisters and one brother: Thelma Barnes and husband , Kelsay “Bug” Barnes and Rachel Durham and husband, Howard and Allen Nelson of Campbellsville; three sisters-in-law: Ruby Nelson, Evelyn Fisher, and Helen Sharpe of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by one great-grandson, Brent Sharp and six siblings: Pearl Sullivan, Ruth Nelson, Gladys Milby, Florence Curry, Buckner Nelson and David Lee “Joaner” Nelson.
