H. C. “Boss” Gore

H. C. “Boss” Gore of Campbellsville, son of the late Robert Gore and Delta Cravens Gore, was born October 4, 1934 in Adair County, Kentucky. He died at home with his loving wife, Maye by his side at 4:38 A.M., Friday, December 14, 2018 in Campbellsville. Age: 84
He professed faith in Christ and attended Campbellsville Baptist Temple. He loved to sing about the Lord and attended many gospel singings with Maye.
H. C. retired after forty years from KABA Select Sires in Louisville, where he was a breeding technician. Boss enjoyed working with cattle, both at work and on his farm. He was a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.
He united in marriage to Maye Smith on July 1, 1978.
Besides his wife, Maye Gore of Campbellsville, he is survived by one son and three daughters:
Hal Gore and wife, Brittany, Vickie Buckman and husband, Philip and Renee Marcum of Campbellsville and Kay Dile and husband, Jerry of Greensburg; six grandchildren: Jennifer Buckman, Mark Marcum and wife, Summer and Rylee Gore of Campbellsville, Caleb Buckman and wife, Sarah of Calvary, Brittany Miller and husband, Jim and Ashley Hill and husband, Kash of Greensburg; six great-grandchildren: Cody Allen Foster, Bentley Buckman, Lincoln Buckman, Conner Buckman, Clara Miller and Avery Marcum; one sister, Rebecca Blankenship of Columbia; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon Wayne Gore February 3, 2003 and one brother and two sisters: Harvey R. Gore September 4, 2005, Jean Brockman November 4, 2014 and Magdalene Dudgeon August 28, 2017.

Bernice Lawson of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Darlas Cox and Viola Garrett Cox, was born May 30, 1931 in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 8:32 P.M., Sunday, December 2, 2018 in Campbellsville. Age: 87
Bernice professed faith in Christ and was a member of Mt. Roberts Baptist Church.
She was a devoted and caring wife and mother who was adored by her children. She loved cooking, hand quilting, gardening, and dancing. She was a homemaker and a retired employee of Linda & Jane Sportswear and Taylor County Hospital in Campbellsville.
She united in marriage with Leslie Lawson February 1, 1980, and he preceded her in death April 12, 2007.
She is survived by two sons and four daughters: Larry Tungate, Little Johnny Tungate and wife, Brenda, Marie Thomas and husband, Danny, Carolyn Barnett and husband, Jack, and Barbara Marcum all of Campbellsville, Wanda Nelson and husband, Jimmie of York, South Carolina and twelve grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother and two sisters: Curtis Cox, Bonnie Wooley and Corrine Brooks of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by one grandchild, John Daniel Nelson; one great-grandchild, Shelby Lee Goode and three brothers and one sister: Thelbert Cox, Ray Cox, Orvin Cox and Fern Tungate.

Shirley McNear Benningfield of Finley, daughter of the late James Edward McNear and Mattie Ellen Wade McNear, was born September 12, 1943 in Marion County, Kentucky. She died at 11:55 P.M., Saturday, December 1, 2018 in Lebanon. Age: 75
Shirley professed faith in Christ and was a member of Muldraugh Hill Baptist Church.
She enjoyed playing cards with the neighborhood kids and loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.
She was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville.
She united in marriage to James “Boody” Benningfield February 29, 1964.
Besides her husband, James “Boody” Benningfield, she is survived by one son and one daughter: Brian Benningfield (Tammy) and Sherry Raffety and husband, Larry of Finley; four grandchildren: Christy Higdon and husband, Nick, Jessie Newton and husband, J. D., Lizzie Benningfield and Lucas Benningfield; one great-grandson, Bradley Newton; one brother and two sisters: James McNear of Lebanon, Elizabeth Cambron and Betty Hayden of Campbellsville; her beloved dog, Henry; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Benningfield Shipp September 12, 2011 and two brothers and two sisters: Raymond McNear, Clarence McNear, Margaret Hayden and Bernice Mays

Mildred Hardee Willson

Mildred Hardee Willson of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Charles Otis Hardee and Rubye Arlene Adams Hardee, was born July 1, 1925 in Pearl River County, Mississippi. She died at 7:50 A.M., Sunday, November 25, 2018 in Campbellsville. Age: 93
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Campbellsville Baptist Church.
Mildred was co-owner of Willson’s Blue Bunny with her husband, George. They also owned and operated three other shops in Florida after moving there for several years.
Mildred united in marriage to George H. Willson June 1, 1947 and he preceded her in death October 28, 2001.
She was a loving and devoted wife to her beloved husband, George.
She is survived by special friends and caregivers: Shirley Buckner and Shirley Bright of Campbellsville, the Blue Bunny girls and many other friends.
She was preceded in death by a chosen daughter, Barbara Dabney and a sister, Gertrude Olivia Hardee.

James “Jim” William Marrs

James “Jim” William Marrs of Campbellsville, son of the late Howard Marrs and Ester “Tillie” Leger Marrs, was born March 5, 1953 in Floyd County, Indiana. He died at 3:58 P.M., Friday, November 23, 2018 in Campbellsville. Age: 65
James professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. He was a retired farmer who could be described as a hard working man. James enjoyed playing his guitar and could draw a crowd by his larger than life personality. When he was able he enjoyed hunting, trapping and fishing. James also enjoyed learning of his family genealogy and family history. Above all he was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He united in marriage to Linda Robertson March 10, 1974. She preceded him in death January 25, 2015.
He is survived by one son and two daughters: James William Marrs Jr. and wife, Desiree and Mary Kendall and husband, Jimmy Kendall II of Campbellsville and Angela Akin of Greensburg; twelve grandchildren: Bradley Madden and wife, Angie and Jamie Madden of Salem, Indiana, Pamela Collins, Josh Kendall, Joe Kendall, Jonah Kendall and wife, Amber, Hailey Kendall, Jesse Kendall, Meghan Marrs, Emily Marrs and Ava Marrs all of Campbellsville and Alexander Marrs of Lebanon; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters and two brothers: Betty Bryant and husband, Lonnie of New Albany, Indiana, Benny Marrs and wife, Debbie of Fredericksburg, Indiana, Jane Senn and husband, Raymond of Milltown, Indiana and George Marrs and wife, Rhonda of Campbellsville; brothers and sisters-in-law: Marvin Robertson and wife, Elaine of Louisville, Jim Abrams of Pekin, Indiana, Robbie Robertson of Sellersburg, Indiana, Eddie Robertson and wife, Donna of Elizabeth, Indiana, and Melissa Neese of Marengo, Indiana; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Lewis Edward Marrs in infancy and John Marrs.
