Elizabeth Inez Cox of Louisville, formerly of Taylor County, daughter of the late  Curtis Willis and Cora Dye Willis, was born November 12, 1935, in Adair County, Kentucky. She died at 3:30 P.M., Tuesday, September 16, 2014 in Louisville.     Age: 78

She professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith.

She united in marriage to Kenneth Merle Cox November 19, 1954. He preceded her in death January 4, 2014.

She is survived by four daughters and seven sons: Audrey Kay Cox Clark of Crystal Lake, Illinois, Sharon Lynn Cox-Gambino of McHenry, Illinois, Patty Ann Cox of Burwin, Illinois, Barbara Shirley Cooper of Taylorsville, Kentucky, Phillip Harold Cox of Roselle, Illinois, Jeffrey Allen Cox of Crystal Lake, Illinois, Robert Merle Cox of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Charles Edward Cox, Rickey Lee Cox, Mickey Ray Cox and Billy Ray Cox of Louisville; thirty-one grandchildren; fifty-one great-grandchildren; three sisters: Betty Dile, Dorlas Powell and Judy Burton of Columbia; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

William Bill Gupton2William “Bill” Gupton of Campbellsville, son of the late Robert Lewis Gupton and Sarah Katherine “Sally” Sanders Gupton, was born June 15, 1931 in Taylor County, Kentucky.

He died at 8:05 P.M., Monday, September 15, 2014 in Campbellsville.    Age: 83

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served his country honorably in the United States Army.

He was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville.

He united in marriage to Lena Benningfield December 24, 1953.

Besides his wife, Lena Gupton of Campbellsville, he is survived by one daughter and two sons: Pattie Waters and husband, Kenny of Campbellsville, David Gupton and wife, Peggy of Knifley and Garry Gupton and wife, Terrie of Louisville; nine grandchildren: Chris Waters and wife, Crystal, Tonya Waters, Mandy Waters, Corey Waters and fiancée, Chelsea Hinebaugh, Dustin Gupton and wife, Tara Courtney Michelle Gupton and fiancée, Jordan Grant, Grant Gupton, Grace Gupton and Gray Gupton; five great-grandchildren: Ayden Waters, Atleigh Waters, Avery Thomas Gupton, Brennan Potter and Masen Potter; two brothers and one sister: George Gupton and wife, Carolyn and Laverne Crawley and husband, Dennis, Jr. of Campbellsville and Lawrence Gupton and wife, Audrey of Greensburg; two sisters-in-law: Marie Gupton of Campbellsville and Virginia Sweeney of Richmond; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by five brothers and one sister: Richard Sweeney, Bob Gupton, Tom Gupton, Charlie Gupton, Lewis Gupton and Opal Beyl.

J.R. “Slick” Polston of Campbellsville, son of the late Herlan Polston Sr. and Dorothy Burris Polston, was born December 10, 1946, in Jamestown, Kentucky. He died at 12:40 A.M., Friday, September 12, 2014 in Campbellsville. Age: 67

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church and attended Calvary Baptist Church.

He retired from Fruit of the Loom after 30 years of service.

He is survived by two daughters: Tammy Phillips and husband, Gary of Campbellsville, Tonja Polston and partner, Nancy Wallace of Lebanon; three grandchildren: Tyler Phillips and wife, Tracy of Campbellsville, Garrett Phillips of Bowling Green and Kendall Polston of Lebanon; two sisters: Katie Brockman and Patty Polston; one brother, Dwight Polston all of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by four sisters: Brenda Lee Wolverton, Rena Melton, Martha Hoosier and Joyce Dicken.

Nora Hazel Henson Wade of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Marvin Henson and Elizabeth Perkins Henson, was born August 25, 1914, in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 4:10 P.M., Wednesday in Campbellsville. Age: 100

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.

She united in marriage to James B. Wade December 19, 1936. He preceded her in death June 27, 1968

She is survived by three daughters: Nellie Mardis and husband, Eugene, Marie Cox, Barbara Jean Bowen and husband, Randy; one daughter-in-law, Linda Wade all of Campbellsville; thirteen grandchildren: Charlene Becker, Lisa Wade, Donna Dudgeon, Stephanie Fuson, Shelly Wade Combs, Sherry Strobel, Gary Mardis, Timmy Mardis, David Mardis, Chris Bowen, Doug Bowen, Darren Wade, Jason Wade; twelve great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by two sons: Charles Thomas Wade and Bernard Wade; four sisters: Ida Hawkins, Julia Karnes, Pauline Sapp and Eliza Hicks.

Earl Byron Smith of Campbellsville, son of the late Earl Thomas Smith and Bessie Orene Davis Smith, was born April 28, 1934, in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 8:00 P.M., Thursday in Campbellsville. Age: 80

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Palestine Baptist Church.

He served his country honorably in the United States Army.

He was the former manager of Time Finance Company, former owner of Whitlock Insurance Agency, and a farmer.

He united in marriage to Della Ann Whitlock June 17, 1956.

Besides his wife, Della Ann Smith, he is survived by one son and one daughter: Binky Smith and wife, Rhonda of Campbellsville and Jenny Smith and husband, Dr. Scott Smith of Pikeville; eight grandchildren: Loren Smith Mattingly and husband, David of Lebanon, Logan Thomas Smith of Mayfield, Seth Earl Byron Smith of Campbellsville, Raina Hansford Simpson and husband, Dustin of Somerset, Emily Ann Cox VinZant and husband, Whitney of Kansas City, Missouri, Evan Lee Cox of Lexington, Hunter Smith of Pikeville and Max Smith of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; three great-grandchildren: Oaks Mattingly, Oliver Mattingly and Deacon Simpson; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
