ORVAL RIGGS

 

Orval Riggs of Campbellsville, son of the late Richard Riggs and Sindy White Riggs was born in Taylor County, Kentucky, May 5, 1929. He died at 1:15 A.M., Saturday, November 17, 2012, in Campbellsville.        Age:   83

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Muldraugh Hill Baptist Church.

He was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville; a Professional Diver; and an artist at cooking game.

He united in marriage to Mary Wicker December 13, 1948.

Besides his wife, Mary Riggs, he is survived by two daughters and four sons: Sandra Moore and husband, Jack of Lebanon, Martha Slinker of Richmond, Orval Riggs, Jr. and wife, Donna of Louisville, Richard Riggs and wife, Sherri, Timmy Riggs and wife, Susan, and Kenny Riggs and wife, Lisa of Campbellsville; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; three brothers and one sister: Charles Riggs and wife, Audra, Elroy Riggs and wife, Rachel, and Weldon Riggs of Campbellsville and Elaine Harrison and husband, Danny of Louisville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by son-in-law, Gary Slinker; one grandson, Jason Riggs; and two sisters: Donna Riggs Payne and Lou Ann Turner.

May Rock of Campbellsville, daughter of the late James Herbert Bowen and Maude Lee Wade Bowen, was born August 5, 1940, in Taylor County, Kentucky.  She died at 4:00 P.M., Monday, November 12, 2012 in Lexington, Kentucky.     Age: 72

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Campbellsville Baptist Temple.

She was employed as a salesclerk with JC Penney in Campbellsville and was retired from GTE.

She united in marriage to Joe Rock September 16, 1977.

Besides her husband, Joe Rock, she is survived by one daughter and one son:

Misty Hafley and husband, Bryan of Campbellsville and Marty Rock and wife, Jennifer of Lexington; four grandchildren:  Mayci Jo Hafley, Hayden Curtis Hafley and Chloe Bryanne Hafley of Campbellsville and Blake Webster Rock of Lexington; two brothers and one sister:

J. R. Bowen and wife, Bernice, Kenneth Bowen and wife, Mildred and Faye Vaughn and husband, William of Campbellsville;a sister-in-law, Bernice Bowen Cox; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister:  Hollis Earl Bowen, Lewis Bowen and Catherine Johnson.

Kathryn Bland Smith of Maryville, Tennessee, formerly of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Ira Grant and Florence Bryant Grant was born February 15, 1922 in Adair County, Kentucky. She died at 2:50 A.M., Saturday, November 10, 2012 in Maryville, Tennessee.           Age: 90

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

She was a former employee of Campbellsville Cleaners.

She united in marriage to James Bland December 9, 1939. He preceded her in death April 7, 1958.

She united in marriage to James W. Smith March 22, 1963. He preceded her in death October 9, 2002.

She is survived by two sons: J.T. Bland of Campbellsville and Michael Bland and wife, Lee Ann of Maryville, Tennessee; seven grandchildren: Craig Bland and wife Maria, Ryan Bland and wife, Kim, David Bland, Christy Shuffett and husband, Scott, Laura Jo Minor and husband Michael, Grant Bland and wife, Kasey and Tyler Bland and wife Nicole; one step-granddaughter, Margie Ross; six great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eugene Grant and Ralph Grant of Indianapolis, Indiana; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by one sister and three brothers: Edna McGaha, James Grant, Marshall Grant and Everett Grant.

Albert Grimes of Campbellsville, son of the late Robert J. Grimes and Annie M. Caulk Grimes was born February 1, 1954 in Larue County, Kentucky. He died Saturday, November 3, 2012 in Campbellsville.      Age: 58

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church.

He was a farmer.

He is survived by three brothers and one sister and their spouses: Billie and Myrtle Grimes and Thomas and Linda Grimes of Campbellsville, James and Martha Grimes of Louisville and Mary and Jim Nunn of Floyds Knobs, Indiana; a sister-in-law, Thelma Grimes of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister: Stanley Grimes, Woodrow Grimes and Dorothy Morris.

Aaron Walters of Campbellsville, son of Rev. David Walters and Nancy Schillinger Walters was born October 12, 1973 in Cincinnati, Ohio.  He died Saturday, November 3, 2012 in Campbellsville.    Age: 39

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Lowell Avenue Baptist Church.

He was a former law enforcement officer.

He is survived by two daughters, Allison Walters and Emilee Walters and parents, Rev. David and Nancy Walters of Campbellsville; one sister and brother-in-law, Amy and Bill Fox of Columbus, Mississippi; one niece and one nephew: Millie Fox and Liam Fox of Columbus, Mississippi and many other relatives and friends.
