Willard L. Phillips of Shelbyville, Indiana, son of the late Walker Phillips and Bessie Frances Hiestand Phillips was born January 5, 1942 in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 2:15 A.M., Wednesday, February 29, 2012 in Shelbyville, Indiana.    Age: 70

He was a self-employed musician.

He is survived by two sisters, Myrtle Carrie Phillips Mendoza and husband, Tony and Margaret Phillips King; brother-in-law, Rev. Earl Pike; special cousins, Faye Price and Bro. Robert Grammer; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by one sister, Louise Pike October 8, 1997.

Shirley Ann Maupin, daughter of the late Oscar Newton and Gladys Rafferty Newton, was born in Shelbyville, Indiana, June 3, 1940.  She died at 4:21 P.M., Tuesday, March 13, 2012 in Evansville, Indiana.   Age:  71

She was the state wide director of Kentucky Toll services and a retired property manager. She was a member of The Honorable Order of the Kentucky Colonels.

She is survived by two daughters and two sons: Julie Welch and Carol Maupin of Evansville, Indiana, Marty Maupin of  Bowling Green and Daryl Maupin of Springfield, Tennessee; six grandchildren: Kevin Maupin, Shelby Maupin, Lauren Taylor Maupin, Natalie Maupin, Nicholas Maupin and Blake Leach; four brothers and four sisters: Carolyn Whitlock, Margaret Gadberry, J. Paul Newton, David Alan Newton and Mike Newton of Campbellsville; Faye Atcher of Radcliffe, Bonnie Claycomb of Bowling Green and Rick Newton of Elizabethtown;

several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister: Dorris Ray Newton November 18, 1994, Jan Cates May 31, 1991 and Billy Newton February 7, 2010.

Ernie Wise

Ernie Wise of Campbellsville, son of the late Ernest Lee Wise Sr. and Margie Roberts Wise, was born September 3, 1947 in Taylor County, Kentucky.   He died at 10:30 P.M., Monday, March 5, 2012 in Campbellsville.         Age: 64

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Elk Horn Baptist Church.

He was a beloved Gospel music singer since age 17 and was a founding member of The Servants and a singer with the Joymakers for many years.

He was a former school teacher, owner operator of Wise Heating and Air, a former employee of Creations Sportswear and Taylor County Board of Education.

He served on the Taylor County Board of Education for many years.

He united in marriage to Judy Taylor February 12, 1988.   

Besides his wife, Judy Taylor Wise, he is survived by one son and three daughters and spouses: Tim and Fritzie Wise and Melissa and Ken Aldridge of Waynesville, North Carolina, Jaimie and Travis Gilpin of Campbellsville and Daphne and Timmy Judd of Greensburg; three grandchildren: Mackenzie Aldridge, Brooke Gilpin and Breanna Gilpin; three sisters:  Carolyn Ogden and Elizabeth Hamilton and husband, Ken of Campbellsville and Dr. Nancy Wise of Louisville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Lou Ann Riggs Turner, daughter of the late Richard Bryant Riggs and Sindy Marie White Riggs, was born in Taylor County, Kentucky, July 26, 1940.  She died at 5:32 P.M., Thursday, March 1, 2012 in Louisville.  Age:  71

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Bethel First Presbyterian Church.

She was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville.

She is survived by four brothers and one sister:  Orval Riggs and wife, Mary, Charles Riggs and wife, Audra, Elroy Riggs and wife, Rachel and Weldon Riggs of Campbellsville and Elaine Harrison and husband, Danny of Louisville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by one sister Donna Riggs Payne.

Delbert Thompson

Delbert Thompson of Campbellsville, son of the late Jeff Thompson and Ona Martin Thompson, was born in Taylor County, Kentucky, July 13, 1934.   He died at 9:55 P.M., Monday, February 27, 2012 in Louisville.         Age:  77

He was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville.

He served his country honorably in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He united in marriage to Pat Goodin March 11, 1961.  

Besides his wife, Pat Thompson, he is survived by one daughter and one son: Cathy Thompson and Greg Thompson and wife, Kim of Campbellsville; five grandchildren:  Jeff Gilbert, Paige Thompson, Bailey Thompson, Tayler Thompson and Chloe Thompson of Campbellsville; two sisters: Lorene Price of Campbellsville and Connie Garner of Summersville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
