Doris Jean Smith

Doris Jean Smith of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Addison “Jimmie” Dicken and Carrie Edith Hendrickson Dicken, was born October 25, 1940 in Taylor County, Kentucky.  She died at 6:25 P.M., Wednesday, April 26, 2023 in Greensburg.            Age: 82

She professed her faith in Christ and was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Doris Jean was a retired employee of Taylor County High School where she served in the lunchroom for many years.

She was as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

Doris Jean united in marriage to Glenn Smith October 26, 1963.

Besides her husband, Glenn Smith of Campbellsville, she is survived by two sons: Gary Smith and fiancé, Robin Hamm of Liberty, and Walter Smith and wife, Susan of Newburgh, Indiana; three grandchildren: Courtney, Addison and Chandler; and one great-grandchild, Silas; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Doris Jean was also preceded in death by one brother and two sisters: James Dicken, Pauline Brown and Linda Barnhill.

VISITATION:  11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M., Saturday, April 29, 2023 at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Michael Whitehouse

Michael Whitehouse of Lawrenceburg, formerly of Lebanon, Kentucky, son of Betty Wise Whitehouse Helm and the late Paul Whitehouse, was born in Marion County, Kentucky on October 30, 1961.  He died at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, April 23, 2023 in Lawrenceburg.   Age:  61

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Georgetown Baptist Church.

Michael was a retired car hauler for Cassen’s Transport.

He united in marriage to Lisa Evans October 13, 2018.

Michael enjoyed spending time outdoors on his farm in Mount Eden, Kentucky.  He loved to hunt, ride off-road vehicles, and spend time at Taylorsville Lake.  He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, often taking motorcycle trips across the state with his wife, Lisa.  He had a love for sports and enjoyed coaching his daughters’ soccer teams for many years throughout their childhood.  Michael was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan.  He loved spending time with family and enjoyed the many family reunions with his large extended family in Lebanon, Kentucky.

Besides his wife, Lisa Whitehouse of Lawrenceburg, he is survived by one son and two daughters:  Daniel Whitehouse of Lexington, Katie Whitehouse of Dallas, Texas and Ellen Whitehouse of Louisville; two chosen children:  Lori Shouse and husband, Dan of Mt. Eden, Kentucky and Shane Drury of Lawrenceburg; two grandchildren:  Clayton Shouse and Leah Shouse; his mother, Betty Whitehouse Helm; one sister, Tanya Joy Whitehouse; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Michael was also preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Whitehouse.

Robert Turner Farris

Robert Turner Farris of Creston, Illinois, passed away on April 13, 2023 at his home with his family by his side.  He was born August 6, 1934 at Red Fern, near Campbellsville, Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth (Wayne) and Omer Farris, and children, Deborah, Robert, Julie and Joseph.  Robert is survived by three children,  Denise Farris, Elizabeth (Jason) Wreath and Donald Farris; grandfather of seven and great-grandfather of seven.

Robert was a member of Union Pipefitters Local 597 since 1956.

He enjoyed Moto Guzzi motorcycles and being the IL State MGNOC Club Rep for many years, as well as touring Europe and much of the U.S. on them.  He was an avid reader with many interests and mechanical hobbies, including antique cars and steam engines.  He also enjoyed many yearly get togethers as his home as well as going to Steam Engine Shows to share his hobby.

He was laid to rest in the Harding Family Cemetery in Campbellsville, Kentucky on April 17, 2023.  A local memorial service to follow.

Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Opal Lea Wood

Opal Lea Wood of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Earl E. Cox and Flossie Ella Cave Cox, was born in Taylor County, Kentucky.  She died at 2:20 P.M., Wednesday, April 19, 2023 in Campbellsville.

She professed her faith in Christ and was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church.

Opal was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville.

She is survived by two daughters and one son:  Shiela Newcomb and husband, Sam of Frankfort, Sharon Arrowood and husband, Henry of Smyrna, Tennessee and Steve Wood and companion, DeLisa Patterson of Campbellsville; five

grandchildren:  Ryan Newcomb and wife, Ashley of Frankfort, Daniel Arrowood and wife, Kristy and April Sneed and husband, David of Smyrna, Tennessee, Brittany Wood-Perkins and husband, Isaiah, Ashley Thomas and husband, Brandon of Campbellsville; great-grandchildren: Elle Newcomb, Claudia Newcomb, Sawyer Arrowood, Amity Parker and Brylee Sneed and several other great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff and employees of Grandview Nursing and Rehab for their care and compassion during their mother’s stay.

Bettye Jane Gray Cox

Bettye Jane Gray Cox, age 86, formerly of Campbellsville, passed away at the home of her daughter, Toni Elaine Llauger, on April 16, 2023.  Bettye was born in Campbellsville on October 29, 1936, and has lived in Tampa, Florida, since 1963.   She is predeceased by her husband, Leslie Barnett Cox, her parents, Joe and Helen Gray, brothers Joe Gray, Jr, Eugene Gray and Robert Gray, all of Campbellsville.  She is survived by her children, Leslye Ann Chianese, Bonny Sue King, (Thomas), Robert Allen Cox, (Judy), Pamela Gail Murtha (Tim), and Toni Elaine Llauger, all of Tampa, Florida.  In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren Melissa Lynn Messick, Land o’ Lakes Florida, Thomas King, Jr., Tampa, Florida, Tanya Rechelle Cosby, Land o’ Lakes, Florida, Ambria Nicole Llauger-Torres of Lakeland, Florida and Cecily Margaret Llauger of Hahira, Georgia.  She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Matthew Allen Cosby, Madison Danielle Cosby, Ashley Nicole Cosby, Avery Grace Cosby, all of Land o’ Lakes, Florida, and Beckham Gray Gibbs of Hahira, Georgia.

Our family would like to express our deep love and appreciation to Ambria Nicole Llauger and Madison Danielle Cosby for the endless hours of love and compassion they provided to their grandmother during her final days.   Their love, compassion and kindness insured that her final days were respectful and honored.

Bettye was a lifelong member of Robinson Creek Baptist Church.
