Minnie Holtzclaw Sublett

Minnie Holtzclaw Sublett of Louisville, formerly of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Joshua W. Holtzclaw and Lula Blair Holtzclaw was born October 17, 1935 in Adair County. She died at 6:29 P.M., Saturday, March 4, 2023 in Louisville.    Age: 87

She professed her faith in Christ and was a member of Mosaic United Methodist Church and was previously a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

She united in marriage to Claude Ray Sublett January 9, 1955 and he preceded her in death November 8, 2003.

Minnie is survived by one son, Ted Sublett of Louisville; two daughters: Tammy Whitaker of Milton and Treva James and husband, Randy of New Albany, Indiana; one step-daughter, Faith Lee of Elizabethtown; five grandchildren:  Shea Wallace and husband, Justin of Waukee, Iowa, Sarah Martin and husband, Ben and Jessa Cook and husband, Tim of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Samantha Roberts and husband, Nick of Louisville and Collin Whitaker of Milton; nine great-grandchildren:  Brody, Stella and Benny Martin, Everly and Emilia Roberts, Piper  and Scout Cook, Maddie and Sam Wallace; one sister, Emma Lou Mings of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. Minnie was also preceded in death by two brothers:  John Holtzclaw and Albert Holtzclaw.

Gilbert Warren

Gilbert Warren of Campbellsville, son of the late Bee Warren and Gertie Nelson Warren, was born February 1, 1937 in Taylor County, Kentucky.  He died at 1:25 P.M., Wednesday, February 22, 2023 in Elizabethtown.   Age:  86

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Poplar Grove Methodist Church.

Gilbert was retired from Kentucky Trailers.

Gilbert loved his family more than anything and enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his garden and making people laugh.  He also loved animals especially his fur babies:  Princess and Puppy.

Eating good food and watching the birds eat at the birdfeeders also brought him pleasure.

He united in marriage to Nellie Agnes Underwood December 25, 1959.

Besides his wife, Nellie Warren of Campbellsville, he is survived by three daughters and one son:  Sheila Massengale of Pine Knott, Lisa Stillwell and Nancy Mings and husband, Tony of Campbellsville and Mike Warren and wife, Lou Ann of Columbia; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters: Agnes Gunter and husband Rollin of Franklin, Indiana and Bernice Stillwell of Hodgenville and one sister-in-law: Mary Warren of Green County; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Gilbert was also preceded in death by four brothers:  Stoy Warren, Roy Warren, Wilburn Warren and Linzie Herman Warren.

Don England of Campbellsville, son of the late Marvin Lee England and Mary Eliza Davis England Underwood, was born November 9, 1947 in Adair County, Kentucky.  He died at 4:46 A.M., Tuesday, February 21, 2023 in Louisville.

Age:  75

He professed faith in Christ.

Don was a retired superintendent with Mack Davis Construction.

He loved his son and grandkids.  Don was an avid Nascar fan and especially enjoyed watching Dale Earnhardt.  He knew a little bit about everything and loved to cut up and clown around with friends and family.

He united in marriage to Beverly Mills September 5, 1970.

Besides his wife, Beverly England of Campbellsville, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Wes and Kathy England of Campbellsville; two grandchildren:  Shelby Burton and husband, Chase of Greensburg and Hannah England of Campbellsville; two step-grandchildren:  Dakota Sloane and Dalton Adkins of Campbellsville; one brother and two sisters:  Steve England and wife, Renay and Brenda Perkins of Campbellsville and Phyllis Pecar and husband, Michael of Indiana; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Rev. Clifford Buel Hayes

Reverend Clifford Buel Hayes of Campbellsville, the son of the late John Russell Hayes and Elsie Blevins Hayes, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 20, 2023 at Grandview Nursing and Rehab.

Buel, as he was known to many, was a long-time pastor and printer.  He was previously part owner of the Central Kentucky News and was the owner and proprietor of Buel C. Hayes Printing on First Street in Campbellsville since 1974 until his retirement in July of 2022, where he worked for many years with his son, Bobby and David.

“Poppy” as he was known to his kids, grandkids, great-grandkids and several who thought they were his grandkids, leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter, Renee Martin and husband, Craig of Lexington and two sons, David Hayes and wife, Donna and Bobby Hayes and wife, Karen of Campbellsville.  There are seven grandchildren:  Shannon Lyman (Steve), Lauren Poullus (Rob), Dana Hayes Fuller (Ches), all of Lexington, Drew Hayes (Sarah), Jordan Hayes (Hunter), Jade Hayes Finn (Tyler) of Campbellsville and Josh Hayes (Whitney) of Columbia, Kentucky.  There are seventeen great-grandchildren and two more on the way. Special friend and long-time companion, Elizabeth Goff Humphress and a “special grandson”, Phil Lawhorn.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Marine Hayes; infant daughter, Diana; three brothers:  Raymond, Dwight and Johnny Ray, and two sisters:  Frances Hayes Lawhorn and Joyce Kay Peach.

Brother Buel was pastor for 11 years at Creston Missionary Baptist Church in Casey County and was a long-time Sunday School teacher at Campbellsville Baptist Church.

Vanessa Leigh Vale of Campbellsville, daughter of Jason Vale and Rhonda Caulk Vale, was born May 5, 1998 in Heidelberg, Germany.  She died Saturday, February 18, 2023 in Campbellsville.          Age: 24

She had professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist Faith.

Vanessa was kind and compassionate; very intelligent, was very friendly and could be rather quirky.  She loved her therapeutic rehabilitation group at Adanta.

She is survived by her parents, Jason and Rhonda Caulk Vale of Buffalo; one sister, Lacy May  and one brother, Justin Vale of Campbellsville; her grandparents: Paul and Phyllis Caulk of Campbellsville and Terry and Joni Vale of Cross Plains, Tennessee; three aunts: Jennifer Caulk Glass of Campbellsville, Suzanne (Mark) Burch of Cross Plains, Tennessee and April White of Bowling Green; four cousins: Shelby Cash Reid (Zachary) of Campbellsville, Rachel White of Washington state, and Sierra White and Allen Caulk of Louisville; special friends, the Therapeutic Rehabilitation Group at Adanta; her fur babies: Riley Jane (known as Bear) and Cooper; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her cousin, Sarah Glass, July 23, 2009.
