Nell Burton Tapscott Smith

Nell Burton Tapscott Smith of Campbellsville, daughter of the late William C. Tapscott and Mary Ethel Burton Tapscott, was born February 5, 1924 in Hustonville, Kentucky.  She died at 8:30 A.M., Saturday, April 12, 2025 in Campbellsville.   Age: 101

The family moved to Campbellsville in 1939 when her father was named a head teller at Taylor County Bank.

She professed faith in Christ and was baptized by her cousin, J. Chester Badgett, and was one of the oldest members of Campbellsville Baptist Church.

Nell went to Campbellsville High School where she met and married Frank Page Smith on March 6, 1943.  They celebrated seventy years together in 2013.

During World War II, Nell worked at the Ration Board giving out coupons.  Later, she was a social worker for twenty-five years.

She and Frank Page visited all fifty states, at least ten countries and several cruises.  They loved to travel.  They also loved UK basketball.  They became snow birds in 1979 when they retired.  They wintered in Naples, Florida for forty years.

Nell is survived by one son and one daughter:  Ray Smith and wife, Judy and Jan Feese and husband, Mitchell of Campbellsville; four grandchildren:  Dr. Jeff Smith and wife, Dr. Kristen Smith of Morrisville, North Carolina, Eric Lane and wife, Kelly of Campbellsville, Jennifer Toprani and husband, Steve of Monogahela, Pennsylvania and Kristi Inguaggiato and husband, Jason of Jamestown; seven great-grandchildren:  Thomas and Madalyn Smith, Madison Lane, Josh Inguaggiato and Will, Sophia and Matthew Toprani; a devoted caregiver, Delores Newton; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; her two sisters:  Frances and Lewis Jones, Katherine Wheeler and one brother, John William and Pat Tapscott.  She was also preceded in death by one great-grandson, Mason Lane.

Tim Jones

Tim Jones of Glasgow, formerly of Campbellsville, son of Ollie Jones and Patricia Smothers Dial, was born October 24, 1980 in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 12:42 P.M., Thursday, April 10, 2025 in Glasgow. Age: 44

Tim loved fishing, playing pool, watching westerns and eating at the Waffle House. He was also a big Kansas City Chiefs fan. He was a loner, a free-spirited person who loved his children Tyler and Allie more than anything, and also was so excited when his grandson River was born.

Tim is survived by one son and one daughter: Tyler Jones and wife, Tasanee and Allie Jones and husband Jayden of Glasgow; one grandson, River Jones of Glasgow; his father, Ollie Jones of Campbellsville; his mother, Patricia Smothers Dial and husband, Roy of Glasgow; four sisters: Amanda Lile and husband Brandon and Ashley Garman and husband, Chad of Glasgow, Kimberly Burris and husband, Johnathan of South Carolina and Jeannie Quesenberry and husband Lee of Virginia; special friends: Lisa and Johnny Harris, and Ashley Houchens; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Tim was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Murrell Smothers and Hallie Smothers Despain, and his paternal grandparents: Betty Nelson, Jessie Ray Jones, and Luther and Ruby Dial; step-grandfather, Willard Nelson; one granddaughter: Taylor Ray Jones; and special nephew: Jaylen Tanner.

Helen Barnett

Helen Barnett of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Jodie Colvin and Sallie Tee Tandy Colvin, was born February 28, 1928 in Taylor County, Kentucky.  She died at 4:14 A.M., Tuesday, April 8, 2025 in Campbellsville.   Age: 97

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Salem Baptist Church where she was Sunday School secretary for more than fifty years.

Helen was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville after twenty years of service.

She was very active in the Harmony Homemakers and won “Taylor County Homemaker of the Year”.  Helen loved to sew and quilt and one of her quilts was awarded a Blue Ribbon at the Kentucky State Fair.

She united in marriage to Earl G. Barnett July 27, 1944 and he preceded her in death July 23, 2000.

Helen is survived by one daughter and one son:  Diana Arvin of Campbellsville and Roger Allen Barnett and wife, Ellen of Burlington; five grandchildren:  Tiffany Ann Barnett of Florida, Katie Wheelis and husband, Rick of South Carolina, Michael Barnett of Burlington, David Eric Arvin and wife, Becky of Walton and Stephanie Woodbury and husband, Bret of Ft. Thomas; five great-grandchildren:  Jackson Arvin, Luke Mulcahey, Hutson Arvin, Luke Woodbury and Lucy Woodbury; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jacky Arvin and four brothers and one sister:  Edgar Colvin, Hugh Colvin, Charlie Colvin, Howard Colvin and Irene Ware.

Noah M. “Mike” Smith

Noah M . “Mike” Smith of Campbellsville, son of the late Noah Harvey Smith and Myrtle Vaughn Smith, was born May 12, 1946 in Taylor County, Kentucky.  He died at 2:04 A.M., Saturday, April 5, 2025 in Campbellsville.   Age:  78

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Robinson Creek Baptist Church.

Mike was a retired truck driver with USF Holland and was a former auctioneer with Hansford Auction & Realty.  He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed joking with everyone.

Mike united in marriage to Marilyn Smith August 14, 1964 and she preceded him in death November 7, 2021.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Eric Elder of Campbellsville; two great-grandchildren:  Channing Tungate and Rhylen Cochran of Campbellsville; two brothers and one sister:  Don Smith and wife, Carolyn, John Smith and Joyce Scott and husband, Wayne of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Mike was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tatem Ashley Smith June 11, 2020.

W.C. Wright of Campbellsville, son of the late William Frankie Wright and Lorena Shofner Wright was born October 2, 1929 in Taylor County.

He died at 7:15 P.M., Friday, March 28, 2025 in Campbellsville. Age 95.

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

W.C. was a retired Insurance Adjuster and service manager at Chevrolet Garage. He enjoyed hunting, riding horses, watching Kentucky Basketball, and drag racing at Campbellsville dragway in his younger years.

He united in marriage to Rose Walls Wright on July 29, 1950 and she preceded him in death on October 1, 2021.

W.C. is survived by one daughter, Gayle Skaggs and husband, Jerry of Campbellsville; three grandchildren: Adrienne Hash and husband, Griffin of Campbellsville, Scott Davis of Harrodsburg, and Brandee Flick and husband, Alex of Georgetown, Indiana; five great-grandchildren: Gracyne Webb and husband, Dustin, Seth Hash and wife, Chloe, Ivan Flick, Charlotte Flick, and Piper Flick; one great-great-grandchild on the way; and many other relatives and friends.

W.C was also preceded in death by a son, William Wright in infancy; and a sister, Marie Vance.
