Five Die Over July 4th Holiday Weekend

(FRANKFORT, KY) –  Preliminary statistics* indicate that five people died in five separate crashes on Kentucky’s roadways during the official July 4th Independence Day holiday period, which began at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 2 and ended at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, July 5.

Four of the fatalities involved motor vehicles and three of those were not wearing seat belts. The motor vehicle crashes occurred in Grayson, Hopkins, Bell and Todd counties.

Kentucky State Police Looking For Distracted Drivers

(FRANKFORT, Ky.) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) is already in full swing with their summer enforcement campaign that targets inattentive drivers.  Operation K.S.P. (Kentucky’s Summer Prevention Plan) began on June 1 and is picking up speed as it sweeps across the state.  The campaign will run through Labor Day weekend and will include over 1,000 safety checkpoints across the state.

U.S. Department of Labor awards Kentucky $978,725 for programs

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Steve Beshear today announced Kentucky will receive a nearly $1 million On-the-Job Training (OJT) National Emergency Grant funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). Funds will provide on-the-job training to approximately 160 long-term unemployed workers in Kentucky.

Injury Accident on Lebanon Ave

Date: July 2nd Time:  3:51PM

Location: Lebanon Ave. and Sharon Drive.

Narrative:  On July 2nd at approximately 3:51PM Officers from the Campbellsville Police Department along with the Campbellsville Taylor County Rescue Squad, and Campbellsville Fire Department responded to an injury accident located on Lebanon Avenue at the Sharon Dr. intersection.  A 1988 Dodge pickup driven by Clarence Yates of Lebanon collided with a 2003 Buick Regal driven by Ruby Wilson of Campbellsville.  This was a rear end collision.  Yates was transported to Taylor Regional Hospital.

Injured taken to Taylor Regional Hospital by Campbellsville/Taylor County Rescue .

** Found ** Golden Alert – Missing Person

On July 5, 2010, the Campbellsville Police Department, Campbellsville Taylor Co. Rescue, Campbellsville Fire Dept. and Taylor Co. Sheriff Department, along with community volunteers conducted an extensive ground search and neighborhood canvass.

Air Evac 43 conducted an aerial search and with the assistance of the One Call Now, a witness reported picking the missing person up on U.S. 68 East and dropped him off at the Lebanon, Kentucky Kroger store.  With the assistance Lebanon Police Department, Video surveillance revealed the physical description and clothing Mr. Banta was wearing. Further review of the tape, revealed Mr. Banta shortly left the store and was walking towards US 68 East towards Perryville, Ky.  If anyone witnessed nor has any further information to contact the Campbellsville Police Department at (270) 465-4122. It is believed he may be trying to get to Shelbyville, KY.

Mr. Banta is wearing khaki pants, a blue dress shirt and white tennis shoes.

Narrative: On Sunday, July 4, 2010, at approximately 6:30 pm, 79 year old Gilbert J Banta walked away from his residence on Roland Street in Campbellsville, KY.

Mr. Gilbert J. Banta possibly suffers from Dementia.  His descriptions is as follows:

Height 5’8″
79 yrs of age
140 lbs with thin build
short grey hair above his ears
brown eyes
fair complexion

Marion County Escapee Apprehended in Loretto, Ky

(Loretto KY)  The Kentucky Police have apprehended an Escapee from the Marion County Adjustment Center. At approximately 8:31pm on 7/02/2010 Parker Perdue age 31 of Edmonton was reportedly in the Loretto area wearing an inmate uniform. Troopers Ricky Underwood and Donnie Moses responded to the area but were unable to locate Mr. Perdue. At approximately 9:32 pm Trooper Underwood observed a vehicle traveling in the Loretto area with the operator of the vehicle matching the physical description of Mr. Perdue. Trooper Underwood apprehended Mr. Purdue following a short vehicle pursuit on A. Mills Rd in Loretto. Mr. Perdue was operating a vehicle that had been recently stolen from the Loretto area. Mr. Purdue has been lodged in the Marion County Detention Center.

Internet Sting by Sheriffs Department Results in Arrest

During an undercover sting today the Taylor County Sheriffs Department arrested Frankie Hardin, age 58, 313 Sharon Drive in Campbellsville after the accused transmitted pornographic images of himself via an internet chat room to Taylor County Sheriff Deputies posting as a minor female.
