Henry Allen Buchanan, Jr. of Campbellsville, son of the late Henry Allen Buchanan, Sr. and Bessie Gaines Buchanan, was born September 30, 1914, in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 6:52 P.M., Monday, November 17, 2008 in Campbellsville. Age: 94 He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Campbellsville Baptist Church. He united in marriage to Louise Parrott October 19, 1951. She preceded him in death August 5, 2003. He was reared on the Buchanan Family Farm where he helped in the sawmill business. On December 31, 1949, he bought Central Transfer Company and McKinley Nance Trucking Company and then became Central Motor Express which operated from 1953 through 1983. He then retired from Central Motor Garage in 2006. He is survived by two sons: Fred H. Buchanan of Campbellsville and William O. ldquo;Billrdquo; Buchanan and wife, Ann of Louisville; two step-grandchildren: Charity Peterworth and Matt Watson of Louisville; one sister-in-law, Sue Buchanan of Montrose, Alabama; one nephew, William Gaines Buchanan of Mobile, Alabama; three nieces: Nancy Buchanan, Bobbie Sheily and Elizabeth Miller of Burkesville and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one son, Henry Allen Buchanan, III October 30, 2003 and two brothers and one sister: Richard W. Buchanan, Lee G. Donald Dean Atwood, 68, of Shofner Lane, Campbellsville, died Sunday, November 16, 2008 at Taylor Regional Hospital. He was the son of the late Pryor and Ella Mae McDonald Atwood. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Chester Atwood, Bill Atwood, and one sister, Genevieve Graham. He is survived by his wife, Carol Atwood of Campbellsville, one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and John Justice of Richmond, Ky, two grandchildren, Callie and Cassidy Justice of Richmond, two brothers and two sisters, Paul Atwood, Cecil Atwood, Betty Lou Hoosier and Joseline Gabbert all of Campbellsville. Norris Dean Bennett, age 53, of Hidden Meadows Drive, Campbellsville, died Sunday, at the Taylor Regional Hospital after an illness. He was preceded in death by his father, Forest Bennett and one brother Alvin Ray Bennett. He is survived by his mother, Lory Bennett, of Campbellsville, one son and daughter-in-law, Joshua and Jennifer Bennett of Chicago,one grandson, Jason Bennett, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Jean and Robert Coomer and Irene and Terry Robertson all of Campbellsville., five nephews, Barry, Ricky, Matthew and Johnathan Coomer and Robert Robertson, two great nephews, Jerry and Caleb Coomer and one very special great niece, Caroline Robertson. Mary Lou Gribbins of Merrimac, daughter of the late Richard Leo Stumph and Etta Pearl Godbey Stumph Clark, was born February 17, 1934, in Marion County, Kentucky. She died at 12:03 A.M., Thursday, November 13, 2008 in Campbellsville. Age: 74 She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Raikes Hill Baptist Church. She united in marriage to L. C. Gribbins February 17, 1953. He preceded her in death April 12, 1991. Leonard Akin of Campbellsville, son of the late LeonardTaff Akinand Mary Lucille Gerdon Akin, was born December 21, 1931, in Glena, Ohio. He died at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 8, 2008 in Campbellsville. Age: 76 He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. He united in marriage to Geraldine Sowder in December, 1963. He had been employed as a farmer and an engineer at Pratt amp; Whitney Aircraft Engines. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. He was retired from Fruit of the Loom after many years of service. He was veteran of the Korean Conflict having served his country honorably in the United States Navy. Fred Russell of Campbellsville, son of the late James Thurman Russell and Maggie Pendleton Russell, was born February 23, 1922, in Metcalfe County, Kentucky. He died at 5:55 A.M., Wednesday, November 5, 2008 in Campbellsville. Age: 86 He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II having served his country honorably in the United States Air Force and in Italy as a Staff Sergeant and as a turret gunner on a B-24 Bomber, where he flew 50 missions with the 38 Air Force Squadron while in the European Theatre. He earned several decorations including the Oak Leaf Cluster, E.A.M.E. ribbons, G.O. Air Medals, Good Conduct Medal, Aviation Gunners Badge, Battle Stars from Rhineland, P.O. Valley, North Apennines and Central Europe. He united in marriage to Louese Phillips July 14, 1945. He had been employed as a farmer and was owner and operator of Russell Construction.
