Morris “Pompano” Beard, age 77

Morris “Pompano” Beard, age 77, of Campbellsville passed away Monday, July 11, 2016 at Taylor Regional Hospital.

He retired from Ford Motor Co. in Cleveland, OH where he worked in several roles over 32 years. Following retirement, he operated Pompano’s Bait Shop at Campbellsville City Lake for 23 years. He was a member of Campbellsville Baptist Temple and was a member of Medina (OH) Masonic Lodge where he was a Past Grand Master. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing golf and bowling, and he also appreciated how swing speed training could enhance performance and enjoyment on the course. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nona Faye Cox Beard; two sons, Aaron Dale Beard and his wife, Lorraine, of Wadsworth, OH and Shawn David Beard, of Campbellsville; a daughter, Tanya Algee and her husband, Joseph of Geneva, FL; four grandchildren, Tashina Walters of Orlando, FL, Crystal Lynn Wells and her husband, Charlie of Tallmadge, OH, Nathaniel Morris Algee of Geneva, FL and Jared Beard of Rittman, OH; two great-grandchildren, Braxton Wells and Isabelle Marie Wells; a sister, Bernadean Bischel of Cleveland, OH; a niece, Kimmi Dunn of Bay Village, OH and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, Anthony D. Beard and mother, Shellie Beard.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, July 15th at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Gillespie and Bro. Jase Diven officiating.  Following cremation, private entombment will take place at Mt. Zion Cemetery at a later date.

The family request visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 14th at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and can be made at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

Sir Ross Albert Mensik, Jr, 76

Ross Mensik Sir Knight Ross Albert Mensik, Jr., a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 18, 1939 to the late Ross and Clara (Novosad) Mensik. He departed this life on Monday, July 11, 2016 at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital in Greensburg, having attained the age of 76 years, 7 months, and 23 days. He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Mr. Mensik was a retired machine parts inspector. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Honor Guard.

He leaves to cherish his memory:
Eight children: Richard Mensik and wife Darcy of South Carolina, Raymond Mensik and wife Roberta of Campbellsville, Ronald Mensik and wife Donna of Campbellsville, Renee Vennoy and husband Richard of Illinois, Tom Mensik and wife Lisa of California, Adria Kurberski and husband David of Wisconsin, Evelyn Hopkins and husband Cloyse of Illinois, and Joseph Mensik and wife Marsha of California,
Three siblings: Patricia Little of Nevada, Barbara Gruenswald and husband Chuck of Illinois, and Alfonse Mensik of Washington,
Fifteen grandchildren,
Two great-grandchildren,
And a host of other family and friends.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Helen (Saviakas) Mensik, and one son, Ross Mensik.
There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Mensik on Friday, July 15, 2016 at 10:00 AM EST at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 425 N Central Ave, Campbellsville, KY 42718. Father Saju Vadakumpadan will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Lebanon National Cemetery, 20 Hwy 208, Lebanon, KY 40033 with full military honors conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 14, from 5:00-8:00 PM EST at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY 42718. A prayer service will be conducted at 7:00.

Connie Ann Humphrey, 55

Humphrey Mrs. Connie Ann Humphrey of Eastridge Cemetery Rd in Adair County was born on February 17, 1961 in Hardin County. She departed this life on July 9, 2016 at the University of Louisville Hospital after an illness. She was a nurse and homemaker. Mrs. Humphrey loved animals and rescued as many as she could. She professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith.

She leaves to mourn her passing:

Her longtime companion and fiancé: Barry Roution of Casey Creek,

One son: Gregory VanHeck of Casey Creek,

One brother: Ronnie VanHeck and wife Donna of Campbellsville,

Many stepsisters,

And a host of other family and friends.
