Lucian T. “Luke” Beard, age 84

Lucian T. (Luke) Beard, age 84, of Knifley, Kentucky died Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the T.J. Sampson Columbia Hospital after a sudden illness.

Lucian was born on June 25, 1931 in Adair County, Kentucky to the late John and Cora Mae Chelf Beard.   He was united in marriage to Beulah Dixon Beard who preceded him in death on May 25, 1988.   After serving in the Korean War he returned home and pursued his farming career until his retirement.  He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Knifley Christian Church.

Besides his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Deanna Mae Beard, sisters, Shelly Beard and Christine Bailey and brothers Russell, Pete and Carl Beard.

He is survived by his current wife, Mamie L. Bloyd Beard, one son and two daughters and their spouses, Steve and Lisa Beard of Campbellsville, Juanita and Keith Young of Columbia and Peggy and David Gupton of Knifley. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Jeff Young, Dustin Gupton, Kelly Jackson, Courtney Grant, Rylee Beard and Sydnee Beard, eight great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Lucian T. (Luke) Beard will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at the Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with Bro. Hugh Withers officiating.    Burial will follow in the Caldwell Ridge Cemetery in Knifley, Kentucky.

The family request visitation from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

Avon Cundiff of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Edgar Turner and Mary Arnold Turner was born March 19, 1932 in Adair County, Kentucky. She died at 8:50 P.M., Saturday, June 4, 2016 in Campbellsville. Age: 84
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church where she was an active member of United Methodist Women and had served as a Sunday School Teacher for forty years.
She was a retired employee of Fruit of The Loom.
She united in marriage to Morris Cundiff December 25, 1948. He preceded her in death December 17, 2011.
She is survived by one son and one daughter and spouses: Patty and Kenny Gordon and Larry and JoAnn Cundiff of Campbellsville; four grandchildren and spouses: Robbie and Stephanie Cundiff, Bradley and Amanda Cundiff, Adam and Lindsey Gordon and Erika and Cody Adams; nine great-grandchildren: Austin Cundiff, Ariel Thompson, Jacob Cundiff, Lane Whitley, Brady Cundiff, Rylie Cundiff, Raegan Cundiff, Halie Adams, and Aesen Gordon; two sisters and three brothers: Margaret Sneed of Bridgeview, Illinois, Aretha and Bobby Corbin, Jimmy and Linda Turner, Tommy and Sharon Turner and Mickey Turner of Columbia; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Pearl Watson, age 91

Pearl Watson, age 91, of Campbellsville died Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Campbellsville Nursing and Rehab Center.

Ms. Watson was born Pearl Chelf to the late Charles Dewey and Montrey Sherrill Chelf on March 23, 1925.     She retired from Fruit of the Loom after 23 years of service and loved to crochet butterflies and raise violets in her spare time.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Z.T. Watson and her sisters, Lelia Corrigan and Cleo Candelara.

Ms. Watson is survived by two sons, David Watson and his wife Nancy, and Roger T. Watson and his wife Leoda, both of Campbellsville;  one sister, Shirley Akers and her husband (Chuck) of Crawfordsville, IN; one brother, Charles Howard Chelf and his wife Edna of Fern Creek, KY; and a sister-in-law, Opal Watson of Columbia, Kentucky.   6 Grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m.  Tuesday, June 7th, 2016 at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home by Bro. Fella Wilson with burial to follow in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.   Pallbearers for Ms. Watson are, Mike Watson, Ben Watson, Troy Watson, Bryan Watson, Michael Payne Watson and John David Pike.

The family request visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 6th, 2016 at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

The family has requested expressions of sympathy be to Woodlawn Christian Church Building Fund and may be made at the Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.
