Orville J. Hughes, age 77

hughes, orville croppedOrville Hughes, age 77, of Campbellsville died Sunday, January 25, 2015 at his home in Campbellsville following an illness.
Orville was born June 2, 1937 to the late Robert and Connie Elliott Hughes in Taylor County. He lived in Louisville for several years where he worked for American Standard. After retirement they moved back to Campbellsville where he enjoyed delivering cars for Auto Smart. He was a member of the Campbellsville Church of the Nazarene for over 35 years where he had served as treasurer and trustee.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret Hughes, Jewel Hughes and Shirley Hughes.
He is survived by his wife, Margie Gilpin Hughes; two daughters, Linda Hughes and Charlene Gabbert of Campbellsville; a son, Andy Hughes and his wife, Becky, of Bloomington, IN; three grandchildren, David Gabbert and his wife, Jessica, Chelsea Hughes and Graham Hughes; two great-grandsons, Zachary and Evan Gabbert; four brothers, Wayne Hughes and his wife, Gladys of Casey County, Larry Hughes and his wife, Linda, of Knifley, Gary Hughes and his wife, Shirley of Elk Horn and Roger Hughes and his wife, Donna of Campbellsville and three sisters, Barbara Henderson, Mildred Druin and her husband, Barkley and Doris Reynolds, all of Campbellsville.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 28th at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with Rev. Andy Hughes and Rev. Dwayne Lobb, officiating. Burial will follow in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be Graham Hughes, David Gabbert, Gerald Bloodworth, Greg Druin, Stan Henderson and Jeff Henderson. This brothers, Wayne, Larry, Gary and Roger Hughes will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family requests visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 27th at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

Howard Paul Asa, age 83

asa, howardHoward Paul Asa, age 83, of formerly of Campbellsville, died Friday, January 23, 2015 in Dyersburg, TN.

Howard was born on July 31, 1931 in Kanawah, Iowa to the late I. Frank and Pearl F. Weiner Asa.  He married Dorothy J. Morrison on January 7, 1956.  She preceded him in death on May 6, 2001.  Also preceding him in death were his brothers, Maurice and Donald Asa and a sister, Phyllis M. Peterson.

An accountant, Howard had retired from Ingersoll-Rand.  He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, a member of Campbellsville Christian Church where he served as an Elder and an active member of Pitman Masonic Lodge #124.  He had served as a lay minister at Glens Fork Christian Church for 20 years.

He is survived by a son, Charles Paul Asa and his wife, Kim of Dyersburg, TN; a step-son, Steven L. Warren and his wife Christina, of Indianapolis, IN; a step daughter, Linda Kay Merrion and her husband, Mike of Marietta, Georgia;  seven grandchildren;  3 great-grandchildren;  two brothers, Kenneth Asa and his wife, Doris, of Bella Vista, Arkansas and Eugene Asa and his wife, Lois, of Port Orchard, Washington; a sister, Kathryn Cavanaugh of Gilmore City, Iowa and a special friend, Pam Reed.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 27th at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home in Campbellsville with Rev. Paul Patton and Rev. Joel Patton officiating.  Burial to follow in Columbia Cemetery in Columbia, KY with military honors provided by the Marion County Retired Veterans Honor Guard.

The family request visitation from 5 to 8 pm. Monday, January 26th at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home in Campbellsville.

Joy Miller Eskridge

Joy Miller Eskridge, of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Leonard Miller and Mary Redmon Nelson Miller, was born July 9, 1939, in Marion County, Kentucky. She died at 5:31 P.M., Wednesday, January 21, 2015, in Glasgow. Age: 75
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Lowell Avenue Baptist Church.
She was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Randy Durham of Campbellsville; two grandchildren: John Wesley Harding of Campbellsville and Amy Patrick Ferrill of Tennessee; four great-grandchildren: Shaun West, Linda West, Ella Beth Ferrell and Colton Ferrell; one brother and one sister: John Paul Miller of Ft. Myers, Florida and June Cherry and husband, Leroy of Greenville, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by two sons: Lanny Eskridge April 20, 2011 and Jim Eskridge February 28, 2001 and a grandson, Jordan Eskridge September 1, 2012.
