John Lackey

John Lackey of Campbellsville, son of the late C. B. Lackey and Nellie Francis Gibbons Lackey, was born November 25, 1951 in Taylor County, Kentucky.  He died at 6:32 A.M., Tuesday, October 2, 2012 in Louisville.

Age: 60

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

He was a former employee of Batesville Casket Company in Campbellsville.

He united in marriage to Terra Elliott May 1, 1976.

Besides his wife, Terra Lackey, he is survived by one son and one daughter:  Dylan Lackey of Campbellsville and Stacey Jewell and husband, Ricky of Magnolia; six grandchildren:  Taylor Morgan Jewell, Courtney Megan Jewell, Bryce Michael Joe Jewell, Haley Nichole Lackey, Kaitlyn Brooke Lackey and Jackson Craig Lackey; three brothers and one sister:  Allen Lackey and Sue O’Banion and husband, Eddie of Campbellsville, Lewis Lackey and wife, Judy of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Hubert Lackey and wife, Barbara of Aurora, Illinois; one brother-in-law, Gilbert Thompson of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters:  Charlie Lackey, Jr., Tommy Lackey, Gil Lackey, a brother in infancy, Rosie Thompson and Gladys Tate.

James W McGuffey, age 77, Campbellsville died Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at his residence after an illness.
He is survived by his wife Betty Jean Wicker McGuffey, two sons and daughter-in-law, James Allan McGuffey of Campbellsville, Gary Lee and Amy McGuffey of Houston, two daughters and son-in-laws, Tammy and John Whitt of Louisville and Carol and Stan Cave of Nicholasville, five grandchildren Aaron and Alyssa Whitt, Meredith and Callen Cave and Cameron McGuffey. Three brothers and sister-in-laws, Howard and Betty McGuffey of Campton, John and Mary McGuffey of Hodgenville, Don and Charlotte McGuffey of Bradfordsville, two sisters Louise Lynn of Hodgenville and Elaine Welsh of Virginia.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11AM, Friday, October 5, 2012 at Lyon DeWitt Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.
Family request visitation 5-8 PM, Thursday, October 4, 2012 at the Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to Hospice of Central Kentucky, donations may be given at Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home.

Corda Burress

Corda Burress of Campbellsville, daughter of the late James Vanwinkle Herron and Lytha Gaddis Herron, was born September 19, 1921 in Taylor County, Kentucky.  She died at 7:03 A.M., Monday, October 1, 2012 in Campbellsville.             Age:  91

She was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville

She united in marriage to Riley Burress December 14, 1935.  He preceded her in death August 21, 1999.

She is survived by three sons and two daughters:  Bobby Burress and wife, Carolyn of Louisville, Danny Burress and wife, Sheila, Pansy Fair and husband, Vernon, Luella Chambers and husband, David and Randy Burress and wife, Sherri of Campbellsville; two daughters-in-law, Barbara Burress and Beverly Burress of Ottawa, Illinois, twenty-seven grandchildren; forty-four great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Loudellia Sluder of Louisville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by two sons and one daughter:  Russell Burress, Oatley Burress and Dorothy Daffron Pike; four great-grandchildren; and four brothers and two sisters:  Elzie “Jake” Herron, Welby Herron, Eff Herron, Rhodie Herron, Ora Cox and Cora Cox.
