Alcohol a Factor in Auto Accident Leading to one Fatality

Trooper Bryan Shepard is investigating a collision that occurred on 10/08/10 at approximately 5:20 PM on KY 49, 12 miles north of Liberty.  Timothy Grider, age 39, of Liberty was operating a 1991 Mercury northbound on KY 49.  Grider lost control of the vehicle, left the southbound shoulder of the roadway and struck a barn.  Grider was not belted and was ejected from the vehicle.  A passenger in the vehicle, Robert Kelly, 32 years of age, of Liberty was not belted, and suffered no injuries.  Grider was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Casey County Coroner.  Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision.

Kentucky Reports First Influenza Activity

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Oct. 7, 2010) – The Kentucky Department for Public Health (DPH) is reporting that the State Public Health Laboratory detected its first positive influenza specimen this week, indicating the presence of flu in the state. The positive sample came from a Fayette County resident.
