Leonard Akin of Campbellsville, son of the late LeonardTaff Akinand Mary Lucille Gerdon Akin, was born December 21, 1931, in Glena, Ohio. He died at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 8, 2008 in Campbellsville. Age: 76 He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. He united in marriage to Geraldine Sowder in December, 1963. He had been employed as a farmer and an engineer at Pratt amp; Whitney Aircraft Engines. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Akin of Campbellsville; one daughter and two sons: Mary Michelle Fisher of Nicholasville, Leonard Mark Akin of Fairfield, Kentucky and Bernard Michael Akin of Deland, Florida; six grandchildren: Bradley Ledford and Leonard Ledford of Nicholasville, Hannah Noel Akin and Luke Mark Akin of Bardstown, Austin Tyler Akin and Jace Sabe Matthew Akin of Deland Florida; three brothers and two sisters: Ronnie Akin of Greensburg, Danny P. Clarence Speer of Campbellsville, son of the late James Rollin Speer and Ermine Smith Speer was born in Taylor County, Kentucky, March 1, 1913. He died at 6:18 P.M., Saturday, November 8, 2008 in Campbellsville. Age: 95 He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Meadowview Baptist Church. He was a retired farmer, carpenter, and stone mason. He united in marriage to Cleo Steelman August 9, 1930. She preceded him in death May 31, 1997. He is survived by three daughters and three sons: Joy Bryant, Sharon Reese, and Billy Speer of Campbellsville, Betty Mathews of Edmond, Oklahoma, Bobby Speer of Altus, Oklahoma, and Donald Speer of Bowling Green, Kentucky; twenty grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; seventeen great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one son, David Speer; one grandson, Kevin Mathews; two sisters and one brother: Emma Dowell, Elizabeth Speer, and Richard L. Jack Whitley of Campbellsville, son of the late Wallace Whitley and Beulah Eldridge Whitley, was born November 30, 1931, in Dayton, Ohio. He died at 9:20 A.M., Friday, November 7, 2008 in Campbellsville. Age: 76 He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Campbellsville Baptist Church. He was retired from Fruit of the Loom after many years of service. He was veteran of the Korean Conflict having served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He united in marriage to Martha Frances Janes January 9, 1952. She preceded him in death May 14, 1995. He is survived by one son and two daughters: Barry Whitley and wife, Lin of Lexington, Jeanine Hood and husband, Mike of Easley, South Carolina and Kim Whitley of Bardstown; three grandchildren; William Alan Mann, Jr. of Taylors, South Carolina, Lori Anne Mann of Easley, South Carolina, and Benjamin Allen Whitleyand wife, Kellyof Orlando, Florida; two step-grandchildren: Eric Kelley and Kristofer Kelley and wife, Danielle of Lexington; one brother and two sisters: Michael Whitley of Lexington, Judith Overstreet of Campbellsville, and Beverly Blankenbaker of Louisville; two sisters-in-law: Carole Whitley of Campbellsville and Marge Whitley of Winchester; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
