Joyce Blevins Salmon

Joyce Blevins Salmon, daughter of the late John (Bill) Will Blevins and Bertha Alexander Rucker Blevins, was born November 18, 1938 in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 9:34 P.M., Wednesday, January 15, 2020 in Louisville. Age: 81
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church.
Joyce was a retired warehouse manager at Behr’s Clothing Store in Louisville.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 82.
Joyce was a loving mother and grandmother and was a bit of a fashionista. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and eating good food.
She united in marriage to J. P. Salmon November 26, 1954 and he preceded her in death November 18, 2008.
Joyce is survived by two daughters: Debi Ballard (John) of Louisville and Dede Shafar (Fred) of Fisherville; six grandchildren: John Parks Ballard, Richard Ballard, Brooke Shafar, Payton Parrish (Alex), Gabi Nauert (Jared) of Louisville and Taylor Ballard (Lindsley) of Washington, D.C. ; one great-grandson, Brayden Nauert; one sister-in-law, Brenda Blevins of Campbellsville; one brother-in-law, Maynard Miller of Versailles; one niece and three nephews: Karen Sue Basden of Amarillo, Texas, Stewart Miller (Carol) of Evanston, Illinois, Mark Miller (Kathy) of New Port News, Virginia and Kent and Libby Miller of Versailles; three great-nieces and one great nephew: Violet Marotta (Mickey), Katy Miller, Aly Burchett (Woody) and Miles Miller (Mallory); special long time friends: Sue Sweeney and Beverly Kindrick; special cousins: Ruthie Mardis of Campbellsville and Corinne Holcombe (Bill) of Florida; special friends: Patti Brown and Marilyn Lewis and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Frank Blevins and one sister-in-law, Aleene Miller

Thomas “Tommy” Carter, 79

Thomas Alfred ‘Tommy” Carter of Hodgenville, the son of the late Sidney L. and Lura Ethel (Atwell) Carter was born July 21, 1940 in Green County, KY and departed this life on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, in Elizabethtown at the Elizabethtown Nursing and Rehab.

He was 79 years of age.

He was a farmer and was of the Baptist Faith.

He enjoyed watching the UK Wildcats and when his health allowed him, he liked hunting, fishing, dancing and long walks with his wife and listening to gospel and country music.

He is survived by his wife: Mary “Joanie” (Vires) Carter of Hodgenville; three step-children: Troy Heady of Hodgenville, Angie Clough and husband Marty of Paris, KY and Jessica Ramirez of Monticello; his brothers and sister: James Carter and wife Nancy, Freddy Carter and Robert Peace all of Hodgenville, James Peace, Jr and wife Darlene of Elizabethtown and Shirley Warren and husband Mitchell of Louisville; four step-grandchildren, two step- great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters: Hugh Carter, Janet Martin Edwards, Jerry W. Peace, Betty Page and three as infants and one deceased step grandchild.

The funeral service for Tommy Carter will be Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home in Campbellsville with burial to follow in the Old Mt. Sherman Cemetery in Mt. Sherman.

Visitation after 10 AM on Saturday until time for the service.

Juanita Claywell, daughter of the late William Lewis Payton and Loretta Herron Payton, was born September 27, 1926 in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 8:45 P.M., Tuesday, January 14, 2020 in Campbellsville. Age: 93
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Lowell Avenue Baptist Church.
She was a retired employee of Taylor Regional Hospital.
She enjoyed quilting and crocheting. Doing crosswords and watching ballgames were favorite past times to relax.
Juanita is survived by two sons and three daughters: Ronnie Claywell, Gary Claywell and wife, Helen, Diane Bradshaw and Barbara Witham and husband, Dale of Campbellsville and Vonita Burton and husband, James of Columbia; seven grandchildren: Michelle Gaines, Amanda Long and husband, Greg, April Brewer, Brandy Miles and husband, Jason, Brandon Claywell and wife, Brittany and Shawn Claywell of Campbellsville and Rodney Bradshaw of Somerset; three step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Lewis Payton of Florida; one niece, Carolyn Vanover and husband, Danny; one nephew, Dallas M. Payton; two great-nieces: Tracy Fisher and Ashley Vanover; two great-nephews: Matt Payton and Chad Payton and many other relatives and friends.
Juanita was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister: Edward Payton,
Dallas Payton and Jean Clark; one granddaughter, Crystal Clements and one great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Gaines.
