Douglas Lee Mills, age 68

Douglas Lee Mills, age 68, of Campbellsville, died Thursday, January 12, 2017 in Louisville following a recent illness.

A native of Pennsylvania, Douglas was born April 24, 1948 to the late Joseph Alexander and Margaret Hess Mills. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served in Vietnam. Douglas moved to the area several years ago, to work for the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. He served as a maintenance mechanic at Green River Lake prior to his retirement.

Besides his parents, Douglas was preceded in death by his wife, Merry Hall Mills and a son, Greg DuBois.

He is survived by his daughter, Racheal Hudson and her husband, Charles of Campbellsville; a granddaughter, Katniss Hudson; brothers Frank Mills, Mike Mills Berry Mills and Matt Mills and a sister, Sandy Conrad, all of Pennsylvania.

Prior to cremation rites, the family requests visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, January 15th at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

Clark, Garnett Allen “Al”, Age 90

Garnett Allen “Al” Clark, age 90 of Louisville died Monday, January 9, 2017 following a brave battle with cancer and in the end a brief illness.

He was a native of Campbellsville, KY, born July 30, 1926 to the late Albert and Leona Williams Clark.  Following the completion of high school equivalency, he left for service in the U.S. Army in WW II and fought in the Battle of Luzon and was positioned for the invasion of Japan at the end of the war.  He and Wilma were stationed in Salzburg, Austria after the war which they loved.  He went on to serve in the Korean War where he earned a Bronze Star.  His service in the Army spanned more than 20 years and he retired with the rank of Captain.  A true patriot, he later joined VFW Post 1170 in Louisville where he lived most of his life and loved being in Kentucky.  Following his military service, he became a successful heating and air conditioning salesman for Sears and Roebuck, Co.  Al loved to hunt and fish but his passion was golf.  He was a founding member of the Midland Trail Golf Club where he was active for over 50 years playing right up to his final days.

Al was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma T. Clark who he greatly missed since her passing on December 20, 2014.  He was also predeceased by an infant son, Steven A. Clark; a brother Marion Clark and a sister, Oleta Clark.

Surviving are a daughter, Robin C. (Dan) Wissert and a son, Gregory A. (Lisa) Clark, both of Florida. Also surviving are his grandsons, Christopher Mudd and David (Christina) Mudd; a great-granddaughter, Anneliese Mudd and sister, Opal (Russell) Bliese, of Moraga, CA.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Monday, January 16th at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home in Campbellsville with burial in the Green River Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm prior to the service.

Herbert O. Stein, 74

stein-pic2Mr. Herbert Otto “Herb” Stein of Louisville was born in New York on December 20, 1942. He departed this life on Sunday, January 8, 2017 in Louisville at the Franciscan Health Care Center after an extended illness. He was 74 years and 19 days of age. He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Maryville Baptist Church. Mr. Stein was a retired restaurant manager, a devoted husband, a loyal friend, and a proud United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

He leaves to mourn his passing:

One stepdaughter: Debbie Graham and husband Ricky of Campbellsville,

One stepson: Robert Abell of Campbellsville,

Two brothers: Herman Stein and wife Joan, and Henry Stein and wife Beverly, all of New York,

Four step-grandchildren: Jason Keltner and wife Candace, Derrick Keltner and wife Emily, and Rickie Graham, all of Campbellsville, and Robyn Fox of Las Vegas,

And a host of other family and close friends.

Mr. Stein was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mrs. Betty Jo Stein, and a daughter, Diane Abell-Cobia.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Stein on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY. Bro. Jason Keltner will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Lebanon National Cemetery, 20 Hwy 208, Lebanon, KY. Full military honors will be conducted by the Marion County Veteran’s Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 11, after 10:00 AM until time for the service.lrpetty-logo
