Dale Furkin, 74

Ms. Dale McKinney Furkin of Campbellsville passed from this life on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at her home. Born on October 9, 1946 in Marion County to the late Garland McKinney and Anna (Mays) Muckler, she was 74 years, 7 months, and 20 days of age. Ms. Furkin was a lifetime educator. In 1967, she graduated from Campbellsville College with a bachelor’s degree, and later, earned her Master’s degree and Rank I credentials from Western Kentucky University. She was a public educator over forty years, an adjunct professor for St. Catharine’s College, Lindsey Wilson College, and Western Kentucky University, and a full-time professor at Campbellsville University until the time of her passing. She lived, both professionally and personally, to a set of high moral standards, believing always in her student’s abilities, and forever exhorting all to reach their full potential.

She leaves to cherish her memory:

One son: Judd Furkin and wife Amanda of Campbellsville,

Two brothers: Brad McKinney of Telford, TN, and Michael McKinney of Burlington, KY,

Her in-laws: Lanny and Patricia Forbis of Campbellsville,

A lifelong friend: Billie Ann Arnold of Johnson City, TN,

A chosen daughter: Karis McMahan,

Her beloved furbabies: Willy and Otis,

And a host of other relatives and friends.

Always one to look ahead and rarely leaving things unfinished, Ms. Furkin had made her final plans known to her family. She had requested cremation and asked that her ashes be interred in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Those arrangements were entrusted to the L.R. Petty Funeral Home and Cremation Service. All services were performed privately.

Linda Wade, 71

Ms. Linda Sue Wade of Campbellsville passed peacefully from this life on Friday, May 28 at the University of Louisville Hospital. Born on September 29, 1949, she was 71 years, 7 months, and 29 days of age. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Campbellsville. She was a retiree of Fruit of the Loom, and a beloved mother and grandmother.

She leaves to cherish her memory:

Three children: Lisa Locke and husband Mitch of Campbellsville, Darren Wade and wife Lisa of Campbellsville, and Jason Pendragon and wife Amanda of Cecilia,

A sister: Jean Underwood of Campbellsville,

Two grandchildren: Mackenzie and Odin,

A special friend: Jackie Livers of Campbellsville,

And a host of other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Edward Pike, and her mother, Beulah Faye (Clark) Pyles.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Ms. Wade on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, June 3, from 11:00 AM until time for the service.

Lindsey Thompson, 61

Mr. Lindsey Curtis Thompson of Campbellsville passed peacefully from this life on Monday, May 24, 2021 at his home. Son of Dorothy M. (Spiker) Thompson and the late John L. Thompson, he was born in Daytona Beach, Florida on September 2, 1959. He was 61 years of age. Mr. Thompson had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Southern Baptist faith. He was a former truck driver and aluminum fabricator, and a mechanic for Shofner Enterprises.

He leaves to mourn his passing:

His wife: Linda Marcum Thompson of Campbellsville,

His mother: Dorothy Thompson of Lexington,

Two children: Bethany Thompson of Lexington, and Catina Simmons of Campbellsville,

Two stepchildren: Kim Johnson and husband Eric of Greensburg, and Daniel Thomas Marcum of Campbellsville,

Three siblings: Jody Thompson and wife Debra of Georgetown, Melody Rednour of Albany, and Jenny Bates of Lexington,

Eleven grandchildren,

Seven great-grandchildren,

And a host of other friends and family members.

He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Britany Brockman.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Thompson on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 11:00 AM EST (10:00 AM CST) in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY. Interment will follow in the Green County Memory Gardens in Summersville.

Bro. Leslie Jewell will be officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 25, from 5:00-8:00 PM EST (4:00-7:00 PM CST).

Scott Lynn Gilbert, 30

Scott Lynn Cox, the son of the Cindy (Hoosier) Cox and the late Warren Cox was born November 9, 1990 in Taylor County, KY and departed this life on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 in Campbellsville at the Taylor Regional Hospital. He was 30 years of age.
He was a former grill cook and was of the Baptist Faith.
Scott enjoyed fishing, bowling, making people laugh with his witty humor and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include: his mother and step-father: Cindy McKinney and husband Kelly of Greensburg; a daughter: Lia Cox of Campbellsville; a sister and brother: Courtney Hamilton and husband Ben of Campbellsville and Ryan Cox of Elk Horn; two step-brothers and sister: Cody and Jody McKinney Greensburg and Krissy Bruner of Frankfort; his grandmother: Betty Hoosier of Elk Horn; three nieces and a nephew: Bryleigh Wheet, Levi Brady, Lilyana Hamiliton and Tatum Hamilton and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Scott Lynn Cox will be Saturday, May 21, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Jones Chapel Cemetery.

Peggy Gilbert, 65

Peggy Sharon Gilbert, the daughter of the Hubert and Evelyn (Noel) Cox, was born March 13, 1956 in Campbellsville and departed this life on Monday, May 17, 2021 in Murfreesboro, TN at the Alive Hospice Care Facility. She was 65 years of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Spurlington United Methodist Church.

She was the owner and operator of Peggy’s Daycare in Campbellsville until her retirement.

Peggy enjoyed crafts, the grandkids and family.

She united in marriage to Bobby Gilbert, who survives. To this union was born a son: Bobby Ray Gilbert and his wife Heather of Freeport, Florida.

Also surviving are three sisters and a brother: Patsy McDonald, Doris Williams, Timmy Cox and Lana Cox all of Campbellsville and Carroll Cox of Maryland; four grandchildren: Dakota Ray Gilbert, Christina Elizabeth Gilbert, Jeremiah DeSpain and Hayley DeSpain; a brother-in-law: Jim Gilbert and wife Betty of Campbellsville; two sisters-in-law: Virginia Stubbs of Stanford and Elizabeth “Libby” Tedder and Husband Rev. Evan of Campbellsville and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Peggy Sharon Gilbert will be conducted Friday, May 21, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Spurlington Church Cemetery. Rev. Paul Dicken will be officiating and will be assisted by Rev. Evan Tedder.

Family requests visitation after 11 AM Friday until time for the service.
