Remington Margaret “Remi” Waldridge, age 2 months, the daughter of James Lucas Waldridge and Alexa Gutierrez of Campbellsville was born March 7, 2022 in Marion County and departed this life on May 18, 2022 at the Taylor Regional Hospital.

Survivors include her father: Lucas Waldridge; her mother: Alexa Gutierrez; two sisters: Kacelyn and Zaryiah.

Also surviving are her grandparents: Michelle and Bo Franklin and Patricia and Jimmy Ferguson; her great-grandparents: Sherman and Marilyn Dudley and Jim Ferguson and a host of aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends.

Her deceased grand and great-grandparents: Robert Gutierrez, Greg Waldridge and Margaret Dudley.

The graveside service for “Remi” will be Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery located behind the Catholic in Campbellsville.

Sheila Oakes, Stillborn Baby Girl

Sheila Marie Oakes, the infant daughter of Mark Andrew and Cora Marie (Greenwell) Oakes, was stillborn Wednesday, May 18, 2022 in Lebanon at the Springview Hospital.

Survivors include her parents: Mark and Cora Oakes, a brother and sister: Mark Thomas Oakes and Margaret Ann Oakes; her grandparents: Mark and Elayne Oakes and Rita and Rodney Whitlow, Jason and Nikki Greenwell and Karen and Chris Pike; her great-grandparents: Henrietta and Ted Anderson, Emmett Greenwell, Aquinda Woodrum, Tommy Donahue and a host of aunts, uncles cousins and other relatives and friends.

A graveside funeral service for Baby Oakes will be Friday, May 20, 2022 at 5:00 P.M. at the Zion Cemetery in the Sandy Y Community of Taylor County with burial to follow.

Gary “Bones” Spurling, 78

Gary Lynn “Bones” Spurling, of the Black Gnat Community of Taylor County, the son of the late Omer and Dorothy (Glenn) Spurling, was born January 10, 1944 in Taylor County and departed this life on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at his home. He was 78 years of age.

He was a former school bus driver for the Taylor County Board of Education.

Bones, as he was known mostly by enjoyed fishing, camping, trading a few antiques and was often seen on a vacant lot selling fresh produce, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends and his furry companion, Annie.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers: Jody, Lonnie and Robert.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife: Louise “Burress” Spurling; six children: Lonnie Spurling and wife Becky, Dale Spurling and wife Christy, Vistia “Sissy” Perkins and husband George, Ricky Spurling, Todd Spurling and wife Courtney all of Campbellsville and David Spurling of Elk Horn; a former daughter-in-law: Becky Spurling of Campbellsville; a brother: Glenn Merredith of Indiana.

Also surviving are eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

To honor the request of Mr. Spurling, cremation were entrusted to

Joyce Lauber, 71

Mrs. Joyce Marie Lauber of Campbellsville was born in Sylvania, Ohio on January 2, 1951 to the late George D. and Juanita Bunting. She departed this life on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at the Taylor Regional Hospital, being 71 years, 4 months, and 8 days of age. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Christian faith. She was the wife and business partner of Mr. Harry Glen “Sonny” Lauber, who preceded her in death. Together, they had operated a crop dusting business and a bison farm in Idaho. She found the qualities of living a simple life enjoyable, from spinning her own yarn to training horses, and leaves a virtuous legacy of honesty and hard work.

She leaves to cherish her memory:

Two sons: Patrick Lauber and wife Raven of Campbellsville, and Darrell Skeens and wife Jessie of Murphysboro, Illinois,

Four siblings: Dorlene Welch, Butch Bunting, Rita Harris, and Gene Bunting,

Four grandchildren: Taylor Lauber, Allison Fiske, Makayla Reeves, and Devin Reeves,

And a host of other family and friends.

She was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Darlene Bunting.

Mrs. Lauber had requested cremation. A Celebration of Life service will be announced and conducted at a later date.

Mary (Akridge) Powers, 80

Mary Jean (Akridge) Powers of Lexington, formerly of Campbellsville, the daughter of the late Marvin and Marie (Peterson) Akridge was born December 7, 1941 in Taylor County, KY and passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2022 in Lexington at the Bluegrass Hospice Care Center. She was 80 years of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Miller’s Chapel United Methodist Church, but enjoyed attending Green River Memorial Baptist Church in Campbellsville and Southern Hills United Methodist Church in Lexington.

She was a beautician, a former secretary and homemaker.

Mary enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, gardening and was very crafty and could create anything that was needed for the project she was working with and she could even upholster furniture.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Clyde Akridge and Damon Akridge.

Survivors include a daughter: Angela Garvin and husband Mike of Georgetown; a son: Timothy Powers and wife Stacy of Lexington; a sister: Lottie Newcomb of Campbellsville; a brother: Leslie Akridge and wife Shirley of Campbellsville.

Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Scarlet Garvin, Elijah Garvin, Kaitlyn Powers, William Powers, Ashley Perdue, Ryan Edwards, Lucien Garvin and Lyric Wilson; two sisters-in-law: Dwalla Akridge of Campbellsville and Linda Akridge of Hardinsburg and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Mary Jean (Akridge) Powers will be Monday, May 16, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home in Campbellsville with burial to follow in the Green River Memorial Cemetery.

The family requests visitation after 11:00 A.M. Monday until time for the service.
