John Edwin Mascarenas of Campbellsville, son of the late David Mascarenas and Anita Smith Mascarenas, was born April 5, 1944, in Penasco, New Mexico. He died at 8:20 P.M., Tuesday, April 16, 2019 in Louisville. Age: 75
He was of the Catholic faith and he served his country honorably for twenty-one years in the United States Army.
John was also a retired employee of the United States Postal Service.
He was a member of many different American Legion posts across the United States, was an avid bowler and was a very caring person who would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need.
He united in marriage to Carmelita Howard August 5, 1980.
Besides his wife, Carmelita Mascarenas of Campbellsville, he is survived by three sons and three daughters: Robert N. Caffee and wife, Amanda, John R. Mascarenas and wife, Cindy, Genevieve Caffee and significant other, Tim McCarol and Madelyn Wise and husband, Matthew of Campbellsville, Nathan J. Mascarenas and wife, Kimberly of Fountain, Colorado and Rachel Fox and husband, Sheldon of Colorado Springs, Colorado; sixteen grandchildren; four great-granddaughters; one brother, Wilbert Pete Mascarenas and wife, Louella of Cerritos, California; two brothers-in-law: Allen Johnson and wife, Angie of Campbellsville and Lowell Howard and wife, Linda of Kissimee, Florida; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by five brothers, one sister, one nephew, one brother-in-law and his mother-in-law and father-in-law.

Hylma Minor of Mannsville, daughter of the late E. L. Gabehart and Linnie Combs Gabehart, was born January 12, 1925, in Casey County, Kentucky. She died at 5:20 A.M., Wednesday, April 17, 2019 in Campbellsville. Age: 94
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Mannsville United Methodist Church.
Hylma worked in the Mannsville Elementary School lunchroom and enjoyed volunteering with the Taylor Regional Hospital Auxiliary.
She united in marriage to Cleveland Minor June 13, 1939 and he preceded her in death April 21, 1996.
She is survived by two sons and two daughters: Scotty Minor and wife, Blanche of Mannsville, Gary Minor and wife, Alice of Titusville, Florida, Diane Nelson and husband, Kim of Madisonville, Kentucky and Gayle Pinson and husband, Larry of Campbellsville; thirteen grandchildren: Timmy Minor and wife, Tammy, Suzanne Minor, Brittany Minor, Lynn Ann Compton and husband, Don, Jeff Minor and wife, Becky, Jason Minor, Bradley Nelson and wife, Melissa, Brian Nelson and wife, Jennifer, Katie Adams and husband, Ben, Anna Spears and husband, Robbie, Lisa Sizemore and husband, Rory, Lesley Anderson and husband, Chris and Lei Lei Minor; nineteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Norma Jeffries of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other friends and relatives.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Ronald Craig Minor and four brothers and three sisters: Howard Gabehart, Merlin Ray Gabehart, Burl Gabehart, Donald Gabehart, Billie Cox, Loreda Cox Bonnie Farmer and a brother in infancy and nine half-brothers and half-sisters: Noel Gabehart, Henry Gabehart, Earl “Buster” Gabehart, Herbert Gabehart, Flossie Mann, Ermine Wise, Mae Williams, Oakley Hovious and Opal Gabehart.

Paul was born in Campbellsville on August 15, 1932. He grew up in Danville, but came back to Campbellsville with his mother and step-father after his father died and has lived here since 1950. Paul’s Mother was Pauline Keltner Stanley-Etherington, his father was Richard Edward Stanley and his step-father was Bill Etherington. Paul is survived by a cousin, Maureen Rafferty of Campbellsville and special friends, Dave and Debbie Nunery and Bob and Beverly Elzy of Campbellsville and their grandson, Jackson Elzy, for whom Paul went over and above to get an autograph of Coach Cal.
Paul became a Christian at an early age and, at the age of 17, became an active member of Campbellsville Baptist Church where he was active in the choir and other music programs in the church, occasionally performing as a soloist. He was also very involved in other music programs in the community including participating for 50 years in the Bethel Presbyterian Church Christian program. He was in the all-state chorus in high school and taught art and music appreciation at Taylor County High School for 38 years and was the first Rank 1 teacher at TCHS. Paul has honored Campbellsville Baptist Church by donating his beloved grand piano to the church before his death.
Paul’s passion in life was art and music. For many summers, he was in the Lexington Singers and after retirement, he enjoyed traveling to major art museums.
Paul graduated from Danville High School where he was active in music, art, debate and the band. Paul was very proud of the fact that he graduated from the University of Kentucky three times, earning a Bachelor degree in 1960, a Master’s Degree in 1961 and his Rank 1 degree in 1971. Paul was an active fan in the Big Blue Nation and rarely missed watching a UK basketball game until his passing. He received many honors and awards in high school and at UK.
In his Sunday School Class and at the Class’s annual Christmas parties, Paul loved to entertain by playing the piano and presenting humorous monologues about his fellow classmates. At the Christmas parties, he never failed to bring his much loved hot-brown casserole.
Paul was a much-loved and unique individual who brought joy to many by sharing his talents whenever he could. He will be missed by all those who knew him and loved him.

Brenda Jean Watson of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Wesley Barnes Drake and Katherine Logsdon Drake Turner, was born July 21, 1942, in Jefferson County, Kentucky. She died at 6:50 A.M., Saturday, April 13, 2019 in Campbellsville. Age: 76
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Pitman Valley Baptist Church.
Brenda was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom, secretary for her husband, Dan and the family business, Watson Plumbing and she was a beautician and had her own shop. More recently Brenda was a teacher’s aide for the Taylor County School System. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary at the Edwards O’Banion Post No. 82. In her spare time she enjoyed being outdoors with her pets, Chip and Sherlock and working in the yard. Nothing could compare to spending time with her grandchildren and being involved in their lives.
She united in marriage to Dan Watson, September 26, 1961 and he preceded her in death March 6, 2008.
She is survived by two sons and one daughter: Carl Watson and wife, Rhonda and Michael Watson and wife, Mimi of Campbellsville and Karen Faye Watson of Somerset; seven grandchildren: Carla Hoosier and husband, Justin, Aaron Watson, Collin Watson, Hayley Watson, Carson Watson, Cross Watson and Creed Watson; two great-grandchildren: Alexis Danielle Hoosier and Carter Wayne Hoosier; one sister-in-law, Frances Morris and husband, Dennis all of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other friends and relatives.
She was also preceded in death by one sister and one brother: Wesley Drake and Patsy Bray.

Oleen Hill of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Edd Smith and Celia Smith, was born March 26, 1931 in Cumberland County, Kentucky. She died at 8:34 P.M., Tuesday, April 9, 2019 in Campbellsville. Age: 88
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Sunny Hill Church of Christ.
Oleen was a retired food service employee at Taylor Regional Hospital and was a former co-owner of the first pizza parlor, Ola Mario’s Pizza, in the late 1960s.
She united in marriage to Carl R. Hill November 26, 1946 and he preceded her in death January 21, 1992.
Oleen enjoyed visiting, laughing and pulling pranks with family and friends.
She is survived by one daughter and one son: Carlene Newton and husband, Paul of Campbellsville and Clyde Hill and wife, Lisa of Bowling Green; four grandchildren: Justin Newton and wife, Lindsay of Louisville, Austin Newton and wife, Amy of Berea, Ashley Hill Crowe and husband, Adam and Paige Hill Orlando and husband, Jason of Bowling Green; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews: Larry Sensing of Bowling Green, Barbara Sawyer and Sue Riddle of Albany; special friends: Margaret Gadberry, Pauline McGinnis, Ruby English and Billy Price of Campbellsville and many other relatives and friends.
Oleen was also preceded in death by three sisters: Kemel Work, Hazel Sensing and Vicie Mae Garner.
