James A. Morrison

James A. Morrison of Campbellsville, son of the late John Morrison and Tiny O. “Dessie” Wright Morrison, was born October 2, 1923, in Cumberland County, Kentucky. He died at 12:25 A.M., Thursday, December 22, 2016 in Campbellsville. Age: 93
He was a veteran of World War II having served his country honorably in the United States Army as a Mess Sergeant in the European Theater.
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Elk Horn United Methodist Church.
James was a retired rural letter carrier for the U. S. Postal Service and former owner and operator of Discount Used Cars.
He united in marriage to Madeline Burress January 16, 1950. She preceded him in death December 23, 2012.
James was a hard working man who was a mainstay to all his family and will be remembered fondly and missed greatly.
He is survived by two sons: Ronnie Morrison of Louisville and John Morrison and wife, Elizabeth of Campbellsville; three grandchildren: Felicia Schultz and Katie Morrison of Louisville and Wes Morrison of Campbellsville; three step-grandchildren: Jacob Blevins, Joseph Blevins and Julie Blevins; two brothers and one sister: Billy Morrison and wife, Josephine and Nancy Baldock Overton and husband, R. J. of Campbellsville, Howard Morrison and wife, Sharon of Topanga Canyon, California; one brother-in-law, Allen L. Burress of Campbellsville; three sisters-in-law: Stella Morrison of Campbellsville, Eula Morrison of Albany and Cleo Burress of Mt. Washington; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
James was also preceded in death by three brothers: Charles Morrison, Edward Morrison and Elton “Chief” Morrison.

Carroll Benningfield

Carroll Benningfield of Campbellsville, son of the late Clarence Benningfield and Jessie E. Page Benningfield, was born August 16, 1945, in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 12:05 A.M., Wednesday, December 21, 2016 in Campbellsville. Age: 71
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Muldraugh Hill Baptist Church.
Carroll was an avid farmer, a member of the Taylor County Cattleman’s Association and loved working with his Angus cattle. He was owner and operator of Red Bud Farm where he worked countless hours over the years. He was a proud dad, papaw and brother. He treasured time with his siblings and was a friend to everyone he met.
He united in marriage to Judy Shively March 25, 1967.
Besides his wife, Judy Shively Benningfield of Campbellsville, he is survived by one son and one daughter: Keith Benningfield and Kelly Carney and husband, Mark of Campbellsville; four grandchildren: Kaitlyn Benningfield Green of Lexington, Drew Benningfield, Shelby Carney and Mackenzie Carney of Campbellsville; four brothers and four sisters: Edward “Boss” Benningfield and wife, Barbara Jean, Billy Benningfield, Betty Jean Graham, Sue Pierce and husband, Pete of Campbellsville, James “Boody” Benningfield and wife, Shirley, Ronnie Benningfield and wife, JoAnn of Finley, Shirley Raikes of Louisville and Opal Henson of Crestwood; sister-in-law: Mary Frances Veatch and husband, David of St. Joe; nineteen nieces and nephews, several cousins and numerous friends.
Carroll was also preceded in death by two sisters: Linda Simpson and Aileen Gaddis and three other siblings in infancy, father and mother-in-law, Gilbert and Exie Wise Shively, five brothers-in-law: Earl Gaddis, CV Henson, Jimmy Raikes, Freddy Graham and Larry Simpson.

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Albany Independent Baptist Church.
Gleneve was a retired employee of the Clinton County School System.
She united in marriage to Harold Robinson January 28, 1955; he preceded her in death January 5, 1998.
She is survived by one daughter and one son: Connie Wooley and husband, Matthew of Campbellsville and Dwayne Robinson and wife, Kristy of Cookeville, Tennessee; five grandchildren: Sarah Hampton and husband, Brian and Rachael Mattingly and husband, Ryan of Campbellsville, Lindsey Robinson, Brandon Robinson and Sydney Robinson of Cookeville, Tennessee; one sister and one brother; Margaret Brown and husband, Paul of Albany and Kenneth Appleby and wife, Beula of New Castle, Indiana; two sisters-in-law: Frances Appleby of New Castle, Indiana and Jane Appleby of Albany; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Gleneve was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister: Ray Appleby, Jessie Appleby and Bessie Sidwell.

James “Jimmy” Sluder

sluder-001 James “Jimmy” Sluder of Liberty, formerly of Campbellsville, son of the late John Sylvester Sluder and Lettie Cox Sluder, was born February 21, 1952 in Sandwich, Illinois. He died at 11:12 A.M., Saturday, December 17, 2016 in Liberty. Age: 64
He professed faith in Christ and raised his son in the Baptist Faith.
Jimmy was a retired employee of Parker Kalon. Mr. Sluder was a self-taught guitarist and dobro player and would entertain people occasionally at the Wagon Wheel. He and his friends spent many hours enjoying each other’s musical talents in Jimmy’s building. Jimmy often liked to talk on his CB radio and was an animal lover, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his grandsons.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: James Anthony and Mallory Sluder of Campbellsville; two grandsons: Hunter Lake Sluder and Kaiden Anthony Sluder of Campbellsville; six sisters: Lillie Benningfield, Beechel Clark, Linda Newton and husband, Michael, Helen Claywell and husband, Gary, Jane Dudgeon and husband, David and Shirley Graybeal and husband, Roy all of Campbellsville; mother of his son, Linda Sue Sluder; his companion, Shirley DeGeer of Liberty; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends who will all miss him.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister: Harold Sluder, Charles Sluder and Aline Vannice.

Dr. James H. Wentworth

Dr. James H. Wentworth of Campbellsville, Kentucky, son of the late Mattie Wentworth Greenwood and Frank P. Wentworth, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2016. He was born in Bedford, Kentucky on May 22, 1937. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley DeBord Wentworth, March 2002. Brothers: Paul, Harry and Charles Wentworth and one sister Judy Stanley.
He was a member of Spurlington United Methodist Church.
Jim served as head basketball coach at Wesley College in Dover, Delaware for 40 years. He was awarded Wesley Professor Emeritus; inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at Lindsey Wilson College, Pfeiffer University, Wesley College and the Delaware Sports Hall of Fame. The Wesley College gymnasium is named the “Jim and Shirley Wentworth Gymnasium.” He also received Wesley College President’s Award for Excellence and Performance and a Doctorate of Public Service.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah, son Chris (Sarah); stepsons, Stan McCubbin (Brandy) and Todd McCubbin (Liz). Grandchildren: Callie, Chloe, Jayden and Kenley McCubbin, Kayden Long and Emma Wentworth.
