Helen F. Newton Vaughn

Ms. Helen F. Newton Vaughn departed this life on January 11, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was 87 years old.
Ms. Helen graduated as Salutatorian of the Class of 1950 at Campbellsville High School. Later that year, she married John William “Bill” Vaughn. They remained married for 55 years. The couple had two sons: Jeffery Alan and John David.
Ms. Helen was employed at Fruit of the Loom until her retirement. During her time there, she achieved Assistant Vice President and helped install the company’s GED program to help those who worked with her receive high school diplomas.
She was the first female president of the Campbellsville Chamber of Commerce and worked with the Taylor County Library, serving on its board for many years.
Ms. Helen joined the Liberty Cumberland Presbyterian Church in 1951, where she played piano and taught Sunday School classes for many years. She was also a leader in their women’s organization.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Virginia “Ginny” Newton; her husband, John Vaughn, a brother, Garnett Newton and her son, Jeff Vaughn.
Ms. Helen is survived by a brother, Willard (Marian) Newton; her son, John (Dawn) Vaughn, as well as two grandchildren, Laci Jo and Ruby Vaughn; three step-grandchildren: Cody, Tara and Garrett Rose; three great-grandchildren: Aubrey, Gracie and Brantley. She will also be sorely missed by her special friend, Eugene Mosz.

Goldie Graham of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Hubbie Graham and Bessie Ann Caulk Graham, was born January 21, 1923 in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 12:18 A.M., Friday, January 8, 2021 in Campbellsville. Age: 97
Goldie professed faith in Christ and was a life-time member of Muldraugh Hill Baptist Church. She was a talented and giving person; her beautiful quilts and delicious pies and biscuits will always be remembered and her eagerness to help anyone in need will always be cherished.
Goldie is survived by one sister-in-law, Betty Jean Graham of Campbellsville and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was also preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters: Roy Graham, Freddie Graham, James Earl Graham, Robert Graham, Edgar W. Graham, Tressie Hunt and Lorene Rhodes.

William J. Wallace, 80

William J. Wallace age 80 of Campbellsville, the son of the late John Andrew and Gladys (Brown) Wallace, was born February 25, 1940 in Dennison, Ohio and departed this life on Sunday, January 10, 2021 in Campbellsville at his home. He was 80 years of age.

He was a former Policeman, a farmer, a mill worker, and a avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife Jean (Gray) Wallace of Campbellsville; two daughters: Kathy Morling of Campbellsville and Kitty Brandt of Appleton, Wisconsin; three grandchildren: Sarah Fraser, John Meyner and Billy Brandt; two great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter: Kelly Frost.

All services will be private.

Joyce Cundiff Parrott

Joyce Cundiff Parrott, age 93, of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Nile Reddish and Tellie Mae Cundiff, was born December 26, 1927, in Pulaski County, Kentucky.
She died at 8:49 P.M., Saturday, January 9, 2021, in Gainesville, Georgia. She professed her faith in Christ and was an active member of Campbellsville First United Methodist Church and the Upper Room Sunday School class. Earlier in her membership, she also sang in the choir.
Joyce was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky and went to Somerset High School. She was active in 4H and won many ribbons showing cattle and canning food. She was also inducted into the National Honors Society. She graduated from University of Kentucky with a Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics in May of 1949. If you were around her at all, you would know she was a true UK Wildcat basketball fan and was in college when the Fab Five played under Adolph Rupp. Upon graduation, she moved to Campbellsville, Kentucky and became the Home Demonstration Agent for Taylor County.
She united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Parrott on March 13, 1952. Bob preceded her in death on April 12, 1971. She was co-owner and Funeral Director of Parrott and Ramsey Funeral Home from 1965 to 1972 and co-owner of Parrott-Turner Cemetery.
Joyce was very active in the community, especially in activities her girls were involved in. She was co-leader of youth golf at Campbellsville Country Club over multiple summers, was a Brownie leader, taught youth Sunday school, supported Sunday night UMYF, supported Taylor County Band in many ways, including leading the concession stand sales at basketball and football games. She also loved to play bridge, including traveling for bridge tournaments.
Most importantly, Joyce loved her family. She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law: Jane Alice and Henry Chappell of Parker, Texas and Martha Ann Smith of Gainesville, Georgia. She has four granddaughters: Jamie Marie Chappell, Sarah Jane Ross, Olivia Jane Smith and Kaitlyn Elizabeth Smith. She has four great-grandchildren: Liam Cade Ambrose, Lillian Grace Ambrose, Adalynn Jane Ross and Casey James Ross. She had one sister, Mildred Waddle, who preceded her in death, as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to acknowledge the loving care from a special group of caregivers: Doris Sargent, The Gardens of Gainesville and The Resting Nest.

Elmer Ray Gabehart of Campbellsville, son of the late Roy W. Gabehart and Bettie Jo Tucker Gabehart, was born June 21, 1937 in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 10:56 A.M., Thursday, January 7, 2021 in Campbellsville. Age: 83
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of God’s Grace Church.
He was a retired salesman with Cox Interior and WHI in Campbellsville.
Elmer united in marriage to Wanda “Bonnie” Beldon Gabehart in 1955 and she preceded him in death November 26, 2020.
He is survived by one son, Richie Gabehart; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Gabehart; one grandson, Hunter Gabehart; one brother and one sister: Paul Gabehart and wife, Nancy and Louise Campbell and husband, Earl, all of Campbellsville;
several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by three sons: Todd Gabehart October 25, 2008, Travis Paul Gabehart and Anthony Ray Gabehart in infancy and four brothers and two sisters: Eugene Gabehart, Jack Gabehart, “Bug” Gabehart, William Henry Gabehart, Norma Jean Perkins and Mary Gabehart.

Richard Kearnes of Campbellsville, son of the late William Cyrus Kearnes and Jessie Marie Wade Kearnes, was born July 31, 1943 in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 7:08 P.M., Tuesday, January 5, 2021 in Louisville. Age: 77
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Palestine Baptist Church.
He served his country honorably in the United States Navy.
Richard was a retired employee of Cox Interior and was a good tool maker and wood worker.
He was member of Elk Horn Masonic Lodge #568 F & A M.
He united in marriage to Arvella Martha Sprowles December 12, 1964 and she preceded him in death July 11, 2015.
Richard was a kind, considerate and caring person who enjoyed making friends, socializing and especially going out to eat. He enjoyed being a jokester had several nicknames from his times on the golf course and at Grandview Nursing & Rehab, such as “The King”, “Mayor of Grandview” and “The Boss”.
He is survived by two sons: Keith Kearnes and wife, LaDonna and Jason Kearnes of Campbellsville; six grandchildren: Shea Kearnes Jaggers and husband, Wes, Kyndel Kearnes, Kamryn Kearnes, Megan Teel, Jonathan Walters and Maddox Kearnes; five great-grandchildren: Tristan Teel, Rori Jaggers, Ramsi Jaggers, Travis Teel and Regan May Walters; one brother and six sisters: William C. Kearnes, Jr. of California, Margaret Tomes, Frances Rodgers and Sue Kearnes of Campbellsville, Dottie Chelf and husband, Mike of Elizabethtown, Linda Pearman and husband, Joe of Hodgenville and Brenda Arnett and husband, Leonard of Rineyville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Richard was also preceded in death by a daughter in infancy, Karen Gail Kearnes and one brother and two sisters: James M. Kearnes, Anna Simerson and Nancy E. Kearnes in infancy.

Bro. Billie Whitehouse, 78

Bro. Billie Ray Whitehouse of Campbellsville was born on November 23, 1942 in Frankfort to the late Jessie Wallace and Geneva (Peyton) Whitehouse. He departed this life on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at the Taylor Regional Hospital after an illness. He was a factory certified mechanic and a retiree of Bluegrass Lincoln Mercury in Louisville and Don Franklin Ford in Columbia, where he had worked a combined 45 years. Although his talents as a mechanic were well-deserved and established, his true passion in life was in spreading God’s love to the world. In 2003, he took a pastorship and started Beulahland Community Church. His many kindnesses and encouraging words helped lift many broken and wounded spirits.

He leaves to cherish his memory:

His wife: Annie (Wells) Whitehouse,

Six children: Dean Whitehouse, Tammy Martin and companion Mitch, Angie Hicks and companion Karen, Lance Allen, Cassie Sprowles and husband Shawn, and Lorrie Hicks;

Close friends: Mike Cox, Todd Gabehart, Robby Pittman, and Bro. Doug Acree,

A daughter-in-law: Brenda Whitehouse,

Sixteen grandchildren,

Twenty-two great-grandchildren,

Four great-great grandchildren,

And a host of other family and friends.

He was also preceded in death by a son, David Ray Whitehouse in 2020; a sister, Shirley Young in 2020; a brother as an infant; and a step-son, Larry Hicks, Jr.

The family will receive friends for a walk-through visitation on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 from 10:00AM until 12:00PM in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY.

There will be a private funeral service for Bro. Whitehouse officiated by Bro. Doug Acree held at a later date. Burial will follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Scottie “Scott” Hall, 56

Scott Hall of Campbellsville, the son of the late Nolan Roberts and Bernice Ola (McBeath) Hall, was born December 23, 1964 in Adair County and departed this life on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 in Elizabethtown and the Baptist Health Hardin Hospital. He was 56 years of age.

He was a former factory worker and was of the Christian Faith.

Scott enjoyed motorcycles and was a talented drummer.

He is survived by a daughter and son: Amber Kay Hall and Jeremy Aaron Scott Hall both of Springfield; two sisters: Teresa Tapscott and husband Robert of Campbellsville and Brenda Baugh of Louisville; two brothers: Randy Hall of Campbellsville and Bobby Hall of Russell Springs; seven grandchildren: Gabriel, Bryson, Cameron, Kolten and Paris Washington Hall and Kaycen Ryan; niece and nephew: Jesse and April Herron, great-nieces and nephew: Elizabeth Biggs, Brooke and Trystan Taylor and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Scott Hall will be Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 12 Noon at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home with burial to follow in the McBeath Cemetery in Russell County.

A walk-thru visitation will be after 10 AM Thursday at the funeral home until time for service.

Memorials are suggested to the Funeral Expense Fund, which can be made at the funeral home.

Paul J. Davis of Campbellsville, son of the late James William “Jim Will” Davis and Nona Bell Sinclair Davis, was born May 1, 1925 in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 8:29 A.M., Tuesday, January 5, 2021 in Campbellsville. Age: 95
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Campbellsville Baptist Church.
Paul united in marriage to Leona Wooley August 4, 1945 and she preceded him in death June 2, 2012.
He was a devout Christian and he and Leona lead a simple Christian life together and enjoyed spending time with their extended family.
Paul was a retired employee of McMahan Furniture in Campbellsville.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters: Vester Davis, Joe Davis, James Davis, Ray Davis, Ernest Davis, Jack Davis, Nora Stewart, Ruth Bailey, Virginia Dudgeon and Mary Dearth.
