Rev. W. Ken Forman

Rev. W. Ken Forman died at home in Campbellsville with his wife Pat Glasscock Forman, and daughter Cathy nearby, early Monday, February 15, 2021. He was 93, a longtime member of Campbellsville Baptist Church and had served in professional ministry for more than 60 years.
Born September 26, 1927, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late William Arnold Forman and Inez Violet Miller Forman, his family moved to Crescent Springs, Kentucky, following the 1937 flood. He graduated from Dixie Heights High School and in 1947, left farm work to become a laborer at the Latonia Refinery of Standard Oil Co. Calling him “Mr. Versatility,” an article in The Sohioan at the time, said Ken enjoyed work in the yard department of the plant, “where his natural handiness as a fixer could find an outlet”.
In October of 1948, Ken married his childhood sweetheart, Wilma Marie Pack, who preceded him in death May 11, 2007. As young marrieds, they were active in “The Utopia Club”, a group interested in agriculture and farming as a way of life. These ideals materialized later in life with his “Peaceful Valley Farm” and sorghum mill. They had embarked on a life carrying him to Sohio research labs in Cleveland and from there to further education back in Kentucky and more than 60 years of pioneer mission ministry and full-time church and Convention staff work.
Ken remarried in January 2012 and served with his wife Pat, on the board at Homeplace on Green River, a historic 200 acre farm first settled in 1805 and being developed to promote rural American culture and local history and opportunities to experience life on the farm. In addition, they worked extensively together in local ministry to senior adults.
Besides his wife, Pat, Rev. Forman is survived by two sons and four daughters: Dr. David Forman and wife, Donna Jo of Midway, Gary Forman and wife, Janie of Frankfort, Cathy Brandon and husband, David of Glendale, Cindy Perkins and husband, Tommy, and Lorri Hardy and husband, Jim of Campbellsville, Jenny Hughes and husband, Lorne of Carlisle, and two step-children: Marsha Benningfield and husband, Dickie, and Melisa Morris and husband, Mark, both of Campbellsville. In addition he has prayed almost daily for fifteen grandchildren; twenty two great-grandchildren; and recently one great-great-grandchild!

He is also survived by one brother and one sister: Jack Forman and wife, Sue of Hendersonville, Tennessee; one sister, Carol Clayton and husband, Howard of San Antonio, Texas; four brothers and sisters-in-law: Charlie Pack and wife, Mary of Taylor Mill, Albert Pack of Cold Spring, Penny Pack of Port Orange, Florida, and Joan Forman of Erlanger, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Donald Forman and Robert Forman.

Feeling the call to full-time or bi-vocational Christian ministry in the early 60’s, Ken moved his family back to Kentucky to attend Campbellsville College, where he paid his way with “Versatility” jobs on the maintenance staff and as pastor of Yuma Baptist Mission where he lead revival meetings, performed the first wedding at the church building, and ordained young preachers.
While pastoring Mt. Roberts Baptist Church, Rev. Forman suffered a catastrophic fall that left him in casts for many months, but he was able to continue to minister in different ways, even performing a wedding at their home in casts.
He attended Southern Baptist Theological Seminary to work toward a master of divinity degree, and then moved his family to west-central Ohio to found a Baptist mission in Celina. Five years later the family returned to Kentucky to allow him to complete his seminary degree while mission pastoring with Shelbyville Baptist Church. Eventually they moved back to Campbellsville where he served on the staff of Campbellsville Baptist Church as Associate Pastor with J. Chester Badgett.
He took the jobs of painter, builder, teacher, farmer and friend to thousands over the years and always saw “God’s Appointments” where others sometimes might see chance meetings. His sense of humor, his smile, and unflagging hope characterized all his interactions.
Many other versatility and building mission endeavors sprang from that, including terms as associational Director of Missions in Bracken and Franklin Baptist Associations, a time on the Kentucky Baptist Convention Staff in direct missions, Board of Directors of The Western Recorder state Baptist paper, and terms on the Executive Boards of the Ohio and Kentucky Baptist Conventions. He and his family enjoyed missions travel around the world, and in Kentucky, his “Last Chance Quartets” at World Mission Conferences always added a special dimension. In recent years his work at Campbellsville Baptist Church was with the “Young at Heart” seniors group and he continued relationships with Campbellsville University Church Relations committees and other alumni activities.
Several times in recent years he has said he wanted to be sure the last thing people remember about him is the quote from 3 John 4, “No greater joy can I have than this, to hear that my children follow the truth.”

Mary Marcum, daughter of the late Ollie Wise and Lucettie Harmon Wise, was born April 1, 1916 in Marion County, Kentucky. She died at 3:55 A.M., Monday, February 15, 2021 in Campbellsville. Age: 104
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Spurlington United Methodist Church.
She loved everybody and especially enjoyed quilting and working in her flowers.
She united in marriage to Stanley Marcum January 7, 1936 and he preceded her in death December 9, 1987.
Mary is survived by a special niece, Linda Atwood of Campbellsville; a special cousin, Audra Riggs of Campbellsville; several other nieces and nephews: Edna Akers, Doris Key, Sandra Lambert and Denise Lee of Indiana, Donna Mershon, Hilda Garner and Sandra Keltner of Campbellsville, Debbie Rakes and Dale Shofner of Lebanon and Daryl Shofner of Winchester and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters: Otha Lee Wise, Ethel Cox, Ruby Shofner and Helen Hash and her step-mother, Hettie Wise

Clyde Everett Pruitt, 72

Clyde Everett Pruitt of Campbellsville, the son of the late Ervin and Bertha (Sanders) Pruitt, was born April 2, 1948 in Larue County, KY and departed this life on Sunday, February 14, 2021 in Campbellsville at the Taylor Regional Hospital. He was 72 years of age.

He had made a profession of Faith in Christ and was a former pastor in the Baptist Church.

He was a Veteran, having served in the United States Army.

He was a retired special education teacher in the Nelson, Hart and Marion County school district.

He enjoyed traveling, camping and a full-time RV fanatic.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers: Betty Pierce, Jerry Wayne Pruitt and one as an infant.

Survivors include his wife: Rebecca ‘Becky” (Morgan) Pruitt; a daughter: Robin Marrs and husband Greg and one granddaughter: Sarah Marrs all of Campbellsville and a host of other relatives and friends.

A graveside service for Clyde Everett Pruitt will be conducted Monday, February 22, 2021 at 2:30 P.M. at the Lebanon National Cemetery. The funeral procession will leave the funeral home parking lot at approx 1:45 P.M.

Family requests visitation on Sunday, February 21, 2021 from 4-7 PM in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home in Campbellsville.

There will be no visitation on Monday.

Memorials are suggested to the Crusade for Children, which can be made at the funeral home.

Mr Lewis “Bird” Weatherford

Mr. Lewis “Bird” Weatherford, 85, of Campbellsville, Kentucky, son of the late Wilbur Weatherford and Lela Hoskins Weatherford was born in Taylor County on September 24th, 1935, and departed this life on Wednesday, February 10th, 2021, at The Medical Center in Bowling Green.
Mr. Weatherford professed his faith in Christ and was a member of Elkhorn Methodist Church. He was a retired Southern States employee after working 42 years for Southern States from September 1956 – September 1997. Bird loved spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids. He loved to farm, work with his cows, and loved his dog, Punkin.
Mr. Weatherford is survived by his loving wife of sixty-six years of marriage, Mrs. Wanda Faye Bertram Weatherford, having united in marriage on July 28th, 1954.
Mr. Weatherford is also survived by one daughter and one son: Patricia and her husband Ronald “Sam” Porter of Campbellsville. David and his wife Pam Weatherford of Campbellsville.
Two grandchildren: Karen Hardin and her husband Tye of Campbellsville. Janet and her husband Dustin Barnes of Campbellsville.
Four great-grandchildren: Lane Hardin, Lela Hardin, Jackson Barnes, and Dalton Barnes, all of Campbellsville.
Two sister-in-laws: Betty Scott and Louvenia Weatherford, both of Campbellsville.
Besides his parents, Mr. Weatherford is preceded in death by one sister and two brothers: Marian Perkins, R.H. Weatherford, and Hoover Weatherford.
A walk-through visitation will be held Saturday, February 13th, 2021, from 5pm-8pm EST at Auberry Funeral Home in downtown Campbellsville.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 14th, 2021, at 2pm EST at Auberry Funeral Home in downtown Campbellsville.
Burial to follow in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens in Campbellsville, Kentucky. Bro. Bill Davenport and Bro. Ronnie Dooley will be officiating the service.
The family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Gideons Bibles which can be made at the funeral home.
Social distancing guidelines and masks are required upon entering building.

Dr. William R. “Randy” Davenport

William Randolph Davenport was born on Dec 8, 1925 and left this earthly life on February 10, 2021. He is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Randy was born in Pineville, Missouri to Jesse Mitchell and Helene Vail Davenport. The fifth of six children, Randy grew up on a farm in rural southwest Missouri, where he learned the value of hard work, perseverance, and love of family. Those early life lessons served him well, as he went on to accomplish much during his life.
Randy enlisted in the Navy near the end of WWII, and was sent for naval training at the University of Louisville where he completed his bachelor’s degree in chemistry at University of Louisville. It was at U of L that he met his wife of 73 years, Janet Chambers. He went on to earn his master’s and doctorate of Education at the University of Arkansas. After working as a teacher and principal in the public schools, he was a professor of education at both Butler University and the University of Michigan, Flint, serving as chairman of the department. In 1969, he became President of Campbellsville College (University), in Campbellsville, KY, serving in that position until his retirement in 1988.
Randy was passionate about the Gideon Ministry that provides scripture placement in the United States and internationally. He held many positions in this organization, serving as International President for several years. Baptist by denomination and a member of Campbellsville Baptist Church, Randy served in many capacities, including serving as choir director, Sunday school teacher and deacon. His singular goal was to serve the Lord and find opportunities to show Jesus to others.
In public, Randy held many leadership positions in various organizations. At home, he was a kind and gentle father, loving husband, and caring grandfather, who had the time to answer questions, listen to concerns, or tell stories. He loved music, books, and poetry. Until his final days, he could still quote entire poems he had learned in his childhood.
Randy is survived by his wife, Janet, and his children Liz Wilson(Bill), Martin (Sue), Mary and Susan; his 7 grand-children BJ, Jon, Mike Wilson; Ben Stewart (Shannon), Jenny Davenport, Abbie Stovall (Daniel), Julie Davenport; 3 great-grandchildren Noah Stewart, Braeden Stewart, William Stovall; and Kim Byram. He was Uncle Randy to many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters: Melvin Davenport, Lawrence Davenport, Joe Davenport, Louise Dill and Jessie Atkinson
Deep gratitude from the family to all that loved and cared for him over the past several years: Louise, Rita, Josh, Mary, Patricia, Debbie, Margaret, Lindsey, and Hosparus Health of Green River.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts of Gideon Bibles or donations to Campbellsville University.
Services will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ransdell Chapel on the campus of Campbellsville University. Visitation will be prior to the service at beginning at 1:00.

John “Jr” Stearman, 86

John “Junior” Stearman, of Greensburg, the son of the late John and Elsie (Darnell) Stearman, was born April 24, 1934 in Green County, KY and departed this life on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 in Louisville at the Hosparus Inpatient Care Center. He was 86 years of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and attended the Bethlehem Baptist Church and South Greensburg Baptist Church. He was a former automobile body repairman for Goff Motors in Greensburg.

He united in marriage to Creacy Jane (Howard) Stearman, who preceded him in death.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Tom and Vernon Stearman.

He is survived a daughter and son: Janie Cox and husband Barry of Campbellsville and Steve Stearman and wife Janet of Greenburg; two brothers: Paul Stearman and wife Nanette of Henderson and Raymond Stearman of Lebanon; four grandchildren: Shae Jones, Carlee Milby, Brandon Dudgeon and Dakota Smith; six great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

A private graveside service will be held at Darnell Cemetery in Green County.

Margaret Murphy, 80

Margaret Faye Murphy of Campbellsville, the daughter of the late Walter and Catherine (White) Waggner, was born October 22, 2021 in Taylor County, KY and departed this life on Monday, February 8, 2021 in Liberty at the Casey County Hospital. She was 80 years of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Campbellsville Church of the Nazarene where she was a former youth leader.

She was retired from Westlake Primary Care in Columbia and was the former owner of M&M Ceramics.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Thomas Murphy, a brother: Charles Waggner and a sister: Alien Chelf.

She is survived by a daughter: Marsha Silas of Campbellsville; a sister: Nellie Cox of Elk Horn ; a brother: Louis Waggner of Campbellsville; two grandchildren: Jonathan Silas and Christopher Silas; a great-grandchild: Madison Silas and a host of other relatives and friends.

A public graveside service for Margaret Fay Murphy will be conducted Friday, February 12, 2021 at 3:00 P.M. at the Elk Horn Cemetery on Elk Horn Loop off Hwy 76 in Taylor County. Rev. David Young will be officiating.

There will be no visitation prior to the service.

Peggy Sue Bray, the daughter of Elsie Sue (Chandler) Bray of Knifley was born June 21, 2958 in Jefferson County and departed this life on Monday, February 8, 2021 in Campbellsville at her home. She was 62 years of age.
She had made a profession of faith in Christ and attended the Lowell Avenue Baptist Church.
Peggy loved collecting, going to yard sales and spending time with her family.
Besides her mother she is survived by three children: Donald Bray of Campbellsville, Dana Bray and companion William Sanders of Campbellsville and Christopher Gamel of Washington; eight brothers and sister: Danny Bray and wife Chris, Ricky Bray and wife Angie both of Campbellsville, Karen Overstreet and husband Jimmy, Bobby Bray and wife Deedra and Bill Bray and wife Melissa all of Campbellsville, Tina Coffman and husband Joe and Missy Gibson and wife Lester both of Tennessee and Joe Bray and wife Tracy of Campbellsville and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters: Darlene Brandenburg, Cathy Bray and Betty Bray.
The funeral service for Peggy Sue Bray will be Friday at 12 Noon EST in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home.
Bro. Freddy Thompson will be officiating.
Visitation will be on Friday from 10:30 AM EST until time for the service.

Betty Richerson

Betty Richerson, daughter of the late Eddie Wheat Pendleton and Flora Elizabeth Larimore Pendleton, was born March 24, 1937 in Borger, Texas. She died at 7:10 P.M., Sunday, February 7, 2021 in Campbellsville. Age: 83
She professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith.
Betty was a retired GED instructor with the Campbellsville Independent School systems and a former food service employee.
She loved gardening and enjoying spending time with her grandbabies.
Betty is survived by five daughters: Debbie Durham of Greensburg, Sandy Holmes and husband, Allen, Renee Farmer and Janee Keltner and husband, Terry of Campbellsville and Jackie Mattingly and husband, Scott of Raywick; five grandchildren: Sarah Arthur and husband, Sean of Greensburg, Heather Farmer and fiancée, Anthony Ewing and Aaron Farmer of Lebanon, Shan Keltner and wife, Tracy of Midway and Jarrod Keltner and wife, Whitley of Lexington; five great-grandchildren: Kayleigh Farmer, Brooklyn Jo Keltner, Ace Farmer, Delilah Arthur and Keira Keltner; one brother, Raymond Pendleton and wife, Susan of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a son, Tony Richerson; five brothers and one sister: Jr. Pendleton, Jim L. Pendleton, Robert M. Pendleton, John W. Pendleton, Bernard Pendleton and Pauline Patterson.
